    I'd be a little worried if I was the other son, I get the feeling they're planning to move closer to him to get their gold child back in line.

    Good on the ops brother.
    Far too often the favorite child gets dismissed as a lost cause in stories like these, but they're also a victim of their parents abuse, just in a different sort of way.
    They're deprived of being able to grow as a well rounded person and often end up as shallow husks, so congrats to the brother for being able to realize what was happening to him.

      Plus in some families like this, but not all, the unfavorite is used as a scrapegoat to vent their frustrations on in subtle ways. so what happens when the unfave is gone and left for good? They have to find another target... and that's the supposed golden child now. That's when the golden child realizes what the other one was going though. shitty parents are still shitty even to the golden child.

    Being a parent is a blessing. But it's also hard work. It's not FOR YOU. Everything you do from that point onwards is...FOR THEM. If you don't have that mind set, don't have kids.

      They had a fantasy that they going to have a boy and a girl with whatever order but they never check the gender of their 2nd kid until was too late and blamed the 2nd son for being born as a boy (as nobody choose to born as the gender that they got)

    Thank goodness the rest of the family and the golden child in question never took their foot off of your parents' necks. All those two should have done was accept the fact that they had two boys and be genuinely decent people. But no, resent one and overextend on the other and end up childless.

    • @Zurround
      @Zurround 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      They did not love EITHER son. In cases of favoritism this extreme neither child is loved. They also did not love each other. The greatest bond possible between 2 people is having a child together, even more so than marriage and if 2 people have a child together and abuse their child like this that means they do not love each other.

    • @leila13dnd
      @leila13dnd 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      They were never meant to be parents, all they had were expectations of this perfect life they had made up and when it unsurprisingly didn't go that way they just refused to see reality for what it is.
      They're both delusional and you can't reason with that.
      Going their own ways away from them is the best path both brothers could have possibly taken.

      I actually hope he does have a daughter, sure they'll want access but they don't have a right to access and especially if he moves far enough away nor shares his address it'll be hard for them. If he has a daughter then it proves why they shouldn't have shown favortism cause then all they had to do was love him and wait and then they could have had a granddaughter to spoil. I doubt either son will want their parents involved when they have children.

    If they pick and choose kids to love and hate just because they weren't the gender they wanted aren't real parents, if i wanted a daughter but got a son, i would still love him and cherish him, because even though i wanted a daughter he is still my child, and that's all that matters.

But when it was any of my 3 brothers birthday God it was an event, they got bags of presents, taken out for meals, drinks. Even a simple card would have made me happy. They have never let me work. Our neighbors are like a mile away and I wasn’t allowed to stay after school for even academic clubs or Scouts or do the stuff everyone was doing when they became firm friends. I don’t have a car and they are wishy washy on where my birth certificate etc are and I have to give them my phone from 7 PM until I am getting on the bus and yes, that means I only have it on school days. And this week their planting the kitchen garden and I have to still do at least 3 hours a day and they’ll keep distracting me because every time I have tried to figure something out or daydream while we work ‘it just happens’…”

    I heard this story before, but not with the most recent updates. The parents’ obsession for having a girl is disturbing. If the grandparents hadn’t stepped in, the mom might have convinced OP he was trans to mutilate him against his will to force him into her preferred role. Hell, she might not even have bothered to convince OP and instead take him to the first quack of a doctor willing to take her at her word and do it.

    So there's the golden child vs. ignored child/children thing. Then there's the focused on child vs. the non-focus child.
    The former is usually one child is born into some special circumstance like the doctors say the baby has little chance to survive but manages to pull through like a "miracle". Usually that one is spoiled rotten and in the end can't survive on their own and are very attached to the family.
    In the latter situation, both kids are tortured, one by overbearance and helicopter parenting while the other child/children is completely ignored.
    Often times in both situations, the non-favored child winds up being very strong if they can survive it, ironically.
    This is definitely the latter.
