- Title translation: "Neighed The Battle Horses"
A good song from the album "Zobena Dziesma".
Lyrics:
Zviegtin zviedza kara zirgi
Karavirus gaididami
Karaviri zobentinus
Uz akmena tecinaj
Iztrinusi zobentinus
Krustam lika zveredami
Labak manu galvu nema
Neka manu tevu zemi
Es jums saku, svesi laudis
Sai zeme nenaciet
Dzied man zelta lakstigala
Zobentina galina
English:
Neighing neighed the war horses
Waiting for the warriors
Warriors sharpening their swords on stone
Once the swords were sharp,
they put them crosswise and swore:
Better take my head rather than my homeland.
And that I tell you, strangers, do not come to this land -
a golden nightingale is singing on the tip of my sword.

Absolute banger. This kind of music must get more popular one day. Greetings from Ugandi.
Aciu uz daina broliai Latviai :) Thanks for the song Latvian brothers
It's so sad that in my country closed minded people love all that ghetto hip pop crap. When there is great music like this available in Europe. Thanks to youtube and the internet, I have access to epic music like this.
Rosie O`Donald "Shaolin" name says where is SD from...China for sure. Why do you think the US? There are no restrictions on any kind of music
@Nicolas GLEMOT "hip pop" according to OP
True warriors epic music! Glory to our old Gods!!!
How ironic, it's not that much different in Europe today
It's probably the same everywhere. In my country (Czechia), people also listen to 95% absolute consumerism and mainstream disgusting bullshit. I personally know barely 1-2 people who listen to our beautiful native European music like this.
Musu tevzeme!
Sveicieni no Latvijas!
sveiciens no zemgales
@@maikspreikss153 esi sveiks! Es pats no Vidzemes
Šai zemē i nenāciet!
What if I want to move :(
Godu šai dziesmai!!
Mana Tevzeme un dzimtene!Labak nenaciet!
Great song, love you brother!
what a lovely song
It surprises me that Skyforger does these folksongs, which are very interesting and good, then reproduces them in 'heavy metal' format. I'm not into grundge heavy metal ... but obviously a lot of people are, judging by the concert audiences.

Jā, "Debesu kalējs" !
Respect and support from brother Serb

Now in this Time Latvians never surrender Latvians are gone fight for they fatherland
Paldies!!!
Yeah they are very good.
Excellent!
warrior song...
Some might confuse Latvians with wikings. Please don't, because we ain't and never were. We were peaceful folk who wouldn't fight for anything that ain't ours (like wikings basically did). so this is different war song.
This song for me personaly associates with that feeling when one grabs soil under his feet, which is his father soil. And at that moment he is sure in his heart what for he would give his life. Which is basically what this song is about ("take my head, spare fathers land"). Peace
You can download the album with Azureus Vuze - just type in Skyforger.
Yeah they have many albums. This song is from the album "Zobena Dziesma".
@angelalovemarcus ... stole ... nah ... just borrowed. It reappears at just about every OZ international big sports event / village. Anyway, the job interview .. I didn't get it .. the yanks were bad losers. It amazes me how much Latvian songs, dances, opera, films etc there is on youtube. Wonderful.
And thanks UKinLatvia, for the english translation.
@UKinLatvia thx a lot i'll put it in the description.
and what about curionians mate ? Vikings that even vikings feared
Pagans can use tobacco like anyone else; it is a process of taking from the earth, consuming, the reflection of the process and associated chemicals could be viewed as a bonding experience with the earth itself. It is worth it to note that most pagans do not have that thought process though. It is no different than the use of any other medicinal herb used in pagan practices.
Shamanism and Pagans are different; i recommend studying both schools of thought.
Probably, but I'm not sure. I know that Peter said it was an ancient song that the latvian warriors were singing.
Yeah it's on this album too. But it's another version of this song.
Vina dziesma no labakiem!!!!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍
loti laba dziesma

I don't know, check out the links on their web site in the section "Merchandise".
Baltes and slaves- brothers forever!
yeah that seems to make more sense. I do know that there's a difference between shamanism and paganism, but I couldn't really think of a more appropriate example. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a mexican god of tobacco or something, but I'm not really familiar with the mythology in that part of the world. (paganism isn't a very specific term though is it, it tends to be used for all kinds of meanings ranging from 'non-christian' to 'polytheist' doesn't it)
I kind of fail to see the connection to be honest. I'm not pagan myself, but as far as I know tobacco was originally used in a ritual context in south america, and the shamans there still smoke a lot and are pretty pagan. sure it's not a very good idea health-wise, but it's pretty hard to make that a religious issue. (except for the addiction bit maybe)
@angelalovemarcus ...I don't understand the middle paragraph.
They are from the Latvia.
@angelalovemarcus ...PS I had hair that long when I was 19, and did I cop shit from all and sundry for it. Then a bout 2 years later it was common place. Now it's thinning out. Oh well ... the price for getting old.
man skolā mācīja ka kurši 12. gs līdz pat dānijai vikingu garā laupīja.
not is the album kauja pie saules
I don't understand. What's with the chanting vocals and folk instruments? Is there like an ideology to this? What's with the flute? is this metal? I'm confused.
Baltic to its finest.
really! what does it mean?
@mynameisjonas45 .. this is closer to 'folk music' .. well as close as Skyforger get. Certainly not 'metal'.' Idealogy'. not the term I would have used..but ' traditional', based upon folklore. This is the only way I can handle Skyforger. The 'metal' has me running for the off-switch.
@angelalovemarcus ... I do not like grunge heavy metal. As for "Land Down Under" hahaha ... well, it wouldn't mean the same to Europeans as it does to australians... not even close. This is Oz's second national anthem. I was in LA about to go for a job interview when Oz was won the America Cup 1982 and this song was played incessantly. I have the CD .. still love the song. But to convert it grundge .. doesn't matter by whom ... no thanks. ilgi might make something decent out of it?
Why would you smoke if you are a pagan.... These guys can't be pagans then..
