I used to frequent different Mandarin Oriental properties over the years, from Manila, Bangkok, Munich and Hong Kong. Each property had a unique character and style. Everytime I would stay there, this commercial would play on the TV set on the hotel channel and I would just keep it on sometimes. They usually weren't this long, and they had different edits over the years. But this version is truly a nice mix of all the previous edits I have seen in the past. Unforgetable music and whimsically playful theme too. Great memories for sure!
Indeed iconic for me as traveled employed by MO HK & San Francisco office based designer/ project manager developing new properties back in 2006-07! Indeed got to stay in many properties, Tokyo, H K, San Fran, Wash DC to NewYork, watching & especially listened to this vid at MO flagged properties got me trough a difficult personal tragedy. Awesome memories, nostalgic as with many MO properties now owned/operated by other flags especially in the Americas! Miss Las Vegas, San Fran & now Wash DC I knew well. Again amazing visuals & music in vid and appreciate it every time now viewed!
Love the music. I started my flying career in 2002 and used to stay quite often at the Excelsior in Hong Kong. I always left the TV playing this ad over and over again. Just listening to it again brings back memories.
I love relaxing to this video at night in my room in DC. The images are stunning! Makes me feel like magic and mystique is all around. And the music is interesting, moody and meditative. What a great idea in the rooms.
The name of the song is " Kan Ding Qin Geh" (The Love Song in Kan Ding). It is a Chinese traditional folk song. The rhythm and lyrics are quite beautiful.
I love Mandarin Oriental! Stayed in 11 so far. Just checked out of Geneva where I took a 15 minutes video of the property which might be interesting for fans watch?v=ueL588pcp1E
This song is literally my childhood, it makes me cry everytime i watch/hear it.

Same here!
I'm in this commercial...haha! Shot it 7 years ago and just now saw it for the first time! It's a beautiful ad! Proud to be in it!
This tune was for me synonymous with Hong Kong. I would be greeted by this tune playing in the room upon every first arrival at the hotel.

Hi! what's the song in the video ?
What are the most luxurious hotel chains in the world? Peninsula, Mandarin, Dorchester Collection, Ritz-Carlton, Four Season,...?
@Watittakes2 some MO properties are relatively inexpensive compared to other 5-star hotel chains! shop around online for best deals =D
I can not forget a guy swimming in a pool with full of apples.
