- BREAKING: An Post threatens to cease postal delivery to Burke home due to our objection to LGBT campaign
In early June our post began to be delivered to our home in a large post van which was wrapped in LGBT colours. The van has the Irish word “Bród” (“Pride”) prominently displayed on it, accompanied by the words “Delivering with pride.”
At the earliest opportunity Seán Burke spoke to our postman and conveyed that the LGBT promotional branding was offensive to him.
On 26 July we received a legal letter from Paul Crampsie, Operations Manager for An Post, informing us that our normal postal service had been suspended. We were informed that for the following two weeks our mail was to be collected at a postal depot almost five miles from our home.
The letter informed us that if a post box was not installed at the entrance to our property on the side of the road within two weeks, all our postal service would be withdrawn and any mail addressed to our property would be undeliverable and returned to sender.
My father received this letter shortly after he addressed the postman on this issue. There was no contact or consultation with ourselves from An Post in the intervening period.
My father responded to this letter, refuting the false allegations contained within it and restating that the “Bród” branding was not inclusive but offensive. Our postal service has since resumed.
The letter received from Paul Crampsie is monstrous. What it meant is that because we objected to a public body, An Post, forcing an LGBT campaign onto our property, we would be treated like second class citizens, or worse. We would be required to pick up our post like a criminal in some depot miles away, and if we did not comply with the sanctions imposed we simply would not receive our post.
We found this letter deeply disturbing.
We remember from history in other places in times gone by where people were treated like second class citizens when they refused to bow down to what the government was forcing upon them.
The treatment of Enoch Burke, and this letter from An Post, shows that this treatment is no longer history. It is today. This sinister letter is the true face of the ‘inclusiveness’ of the LGBT movement.
We have written to Paul Crampsie to request an explanation for the shocking actions of An Post in regards to this matter.

It has to be illegal. The service is a door delivery service, unless people choose otherwise. Paying for the stamp guarantees that delivery. That's why they reversed their monstrous decision, a decision that punished the sender of the letter along with the recipient. On reflection or maybe legal advice, they knew the Burke family had a winning case against them. I have always tried to write letters, when I had other choices. I will not bother now, it is only supporting An Post. They are evil horrors, who would have continued to bully the Burkes, if they thought they could get away with it. Now they have been found out. None of us want Pride. It is only for perverts and the delusionals who support it.

Public service bodies can not stop services to people.
Unfortunately An Post is essentially a privately owned company albeit the only shareholder is the Irish state.

Just like gas and electricity services they cant just stop supply there has to be lack of payment. Making a complaint about something is not something that is on that level or close to.

@@yagsipcc287 Buying a stamp and posting a letter to someone is a contract with An Post. They cannot break the contract. They are the service provider. There is a door delivery service, unless you choose different. They cannot discriminate against service users. They must be client centred.

The Burkes exercised their right to complain and An Post exercised their right to deliver to a post box at the Burke's gate should the Burkes provide one, otherwise the Burkes could collect their post at the post office. The problem is that the Burkes - as in all cases where they have issues - feel the need to go on social media to create a storm in a teacup.

It seems to many of us normal folks that our country has lost its way & that many of our citizens are unhappy with the direction we have taken. When will those in authority understand that it is not necessary to cover vans, buses, emergency vehicles etc with pride colours and slogans. What does it achieve ? People should be allowed to live as they choose, nobody should be treated badly due to their sexual orientation. However, making such a song and dance about it, pushing it down our throats day and night is totally unacceptable. We should all just live our lives quietly and respectfully. I find the whole over the top celebration aspect of sexuality odd, to say the least!!! The postal service are, I think, wrong in this case.

I find it disgusting as do many others...but those vans are not normally circulating in rural areas..so are the Burkes being antagonised deliberately. I think your stand on the fact that a public body is promoting a political ideal is correct. Public service should be not be involved in any promotion of any ideal Christian or not.
