@@MrsBenjamin2010 Hey, if it is really what you wanna do, then just do it. No time is ever too late, nor ever too early to enlist. Vaccine requirements for the navy is pretty much a turdfest at the moment. I'd suggest you think about it.
*I'm in SN Pact but I try to think positively of it cause I get to automatically rank up to E4 once I'm eligible to pick a rate in 1+ year (MA or LS). Ship date got moved to next month btw🙃 *I need 3 more points to be an LS and the recruiter told me he can get me a waiver. Still have a chance to change my rate till my ship date
That's not true. I'm a SN too. You have to wait one year to strike to be eligible and then you have 3 chances to strike. Then you have to wait until you get your orders. After you get your orders they will tell you that you have to extend if you want to rank up. I know a few SN on my ship that has been unrated for over 2 years or almost 2 years. Its gonna be closer to 2 years before you rank up. PLus you won't get to rank up if you pick a rate that you need to go back to A school for, not until you go back and pass the A School. I would recommend that you do not go in as a SN. Wait it out, retake the ASVAB. Because you will be working as a BM and unless you like physical work (painting the ships of the ship, being in the punt boat, mooring the ship, etc) you will not be happy. Its not to late to back out now. Especially since you havn't shipped yet. Worse thing I have done in my life is join the Navy in SN Pact and I've been thru somethings in my 30 years.
Going as a YN May 5th! You a YN? I hear the job is cake, has a chill work environment, fast advancements, but I hear the job doesn’t offer any valuable skills that would transfer to a civilian job. IT, CTR, and CTT were my top choices, but my score lines didn’t qualify me for them and took YN instead of going PACT Seaman which I considered 😬.

And I worked with the BMs. It was tough and hard work and we got dirty but somehow everything aligned and I was able to strike Yeoman. Been in seven years and I’m a second class trying to make first. So hopefully I make it this time. And yes and no on the civilian job after the military. You can always do Human Resources or maybe even accounting. I’m actually in school trying to get this cyber security degree so that I have something to fall back on.
@@davidcardenas3315 boot camp is different than when I went in 2013 especially with Covid. So make sure that keep an open mind and stay safe out there. When you get to a school try to score top of your class so that you can choose where you want to go. Try to go to Cali or overseas

Yea that’s what I actually plan on doing is finishing up my associates in CIS and work towards the bachelors. How much downtime do you have to take classes? But overall bro how do you like being a Yeoman? What’s a typical day for you?
I have two college degrees, 900 hrs of flight time, 3 pilot licenses and certificates, but not a citizen, I’m a permanent resident and because of that I cannot be an officer, so starting at E-3

Will you still go in as E3 with over 60 University credits. Would you be able to enlist in as an E4?
@@meka1816 no. The highest you can enlist in is an E3. If you were prior service and previously held that rank then that'd be different.

Yes it is. Rate is literally the same thing as an MOS in the army
