I want to make a device that will connect via USB to an iPAD with 8 mono outputs. Is this doable with a Teensy 3.2 with audio adapter board?

So, you are saying if all you want to do is play some sounds when a button is pressed, then this is Way way overkill?

Colin Richardson examples are usually simpler than the capacity of this type of boards. The audio library is very powerful and works in a data flow like language (like max, pd or vvvv). You can make a synthesizer that responds to whatever sensor you throw at it. In a small package with decent enough sound. If you compare the raspberry pi awful sound output this would be a better choice for any number of audio installations. Sure you could do the same with an esp32 and an i2s board that outputs nice clean sound but the librart is where it really shines.

@ I wasn't saying this thing is crap, I was asking is this overkill if all you need to do is play a beep when a button is pressed.
I wanted to make a sensory board for my daughter. Different size/shape buttons and levers to light up something and play a sound. Like a beep. But many different beeps.
But not using a prezo because they just sound awfel

Colin Richardson hey, you could get one of those TPA3118 (mono) or TPA3116(stereo) classD amps. That will drive a better speaker. They are inexpensive and i think they have decent output. If you want to make a soundboard style thing that would be good for that. They are small, half the size of a credit card. There are also some I2S dacs arround, you only need a board with i2s onboard and an sdcard reader or even eeprom with the sound stored. I remember seeing someone on instructables with a similar project. This will also do the work tou want with the added bonus of having a nice software interface for your button mapping sounds, but you will still need an amp like the ones I suggested because the output is for driving headphones. Don’t know if i was clear, hope I helped.
