    Probably one of the best slot car race non silent silent movies I've ever seen

    Really enjoyed this, Tom, thank you! 😊 The track design is excellent. 👌😎 Also, the Ferrari overtake that you featured... going from last place to 1st place in one perfectly timed manoeuvre was brilliant and - had that been a real life overtaking manoeuvre - would have been the stuff of motor racing legend! 😮😳😬😱😨😰🤗👏🤩
    I have been planning to buy an extended, decent sized digital slot car layout for some time, and was set on going down the Scalextric Arc Pro route, but then I watched a few Carrera Digital videos and realised how well designed the Carrera system is... I especially like the Pit Stop refuelling system with individual Driver displays, the countdown light overhead starting gantry, the position information Tower, the innovative automatic Pace Car/Safety Car facility and so forth. 👍👍👍👍
    Annoyingly, however, Carrera is significantly more expensive than Scalextric, and the track takes up quite a lot more extra room, so I’ll have to think carefully before opting for one system over the other. Also, here in the U.K., Scalextric is much more widely available and better known than Carrera, and Scalextric seem to have a much wider range of cars in many more racing categories than Carrera. Nonetheless, if price were not a factor - I’d probably go with Carrera, for the reasons mentioned above.
    Do you know whether it’s possible to run or adapt Scalextric 1:32 Digital cars to run on the Carrera 1:32/1:24 Digital track, while still benefiting from all of the Carrera Digital features? If so, that would probably swing the choice to a Carrera system for me.
    Thanks again for this very enjoyable video, Tom. 👍 I’m now going to check out what other ones you may have recorded! 🖖😎

      Thank you very much for your comments! I haven't got any experience with scalextric so I cannot really help you with that. The reason I choose for Carrera is because I had a carrera go racetrack as a kid. When I saw videos of the digital 132 tracks, I was immediately sold by the number of advanced possibilities that a digital track brings.

      Thank you for taking the trouble to reply, Tom. I’m sure I’ll figure out which system to go for in due course... if I actually have any money left after indulging my existing hobbies! 😬 🖖😎

    will 1:32 cars drive on a 1:43 track?:)

    • @tomsweegers8009
      @tomsweegers8009  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That will not be possible, the 1:32 cars are to big for a 1:43 track.

    • @llainen

      Tom Sweegers ok thanks! But do you know if cars from other brands that is in 1:43 scale will run on a carrera track?:) and are 1:32 cars faster then the 1:43? Thanks for answering:)

    • @tomsweegers8009
      @tomsweegers8009  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've seen other video's where they rebuild cars to make it a digital 1:32 car. Here is an example how to convert a truck so that it could race on a digital 1:32 track:
      th-cam.com/video/UiD37zQU0XI/w-d-xo.html
      So it may also be possible to convert a 1:43 car to race on carrera tracks.
      1:43 scale is actually faster than 1:32 scale.

    Hi Tom, great track. Has different aspects between lanes. What size is this and what were the main Carrera sets and tracks, accessories, and add-ons used to make this. Sorry I am new to this and would want to build one for my son and his friends. Is this using a Digital Go track? How many cars can run on this track at the same time? Thanks :)

      Hello Jonji, it’s really nice to hear that this inspires you to create your own race track. I also started that way by looking at youtube video’s from other Carrera users.
      The first thing I bought was a basic starting set called DTM Challenge, with this, you have everything you need to start your first race. Later I expanded with expansion sets, I’m not sure if the serial numbers of them are the same at your local shops but here are the sets I bought first: 30367 and 26956. Also I used a road narrowing but instead of going from 2 to 1 lane, I used it to go from 3 to 4 lanes with the help of the pit stop lane. Other useful things to start with are the position tower at which you can see who is in first place and how many laps/time you have left, driver displays at which you can see your remaining fuel if you have a pitstop and a lap counter or pc unit in which you can create races and see the statistics of the race.
      At a Carrera digital 132 track, you can race with 6 people and add multiple computer programmed cars. Carrera Go is something else, you cannot change lanes and can only drive with 2 cars (each a separate track).
      This track has a size of 4.7 meters by 3 meters and a track length of approximately 20 meters.

      So we finally bought our first set. Just thought I would ask you again Tom for comments if you don't mind. We just bought a Pure Speed 1/32 Digital set and a Startlight. We already have the Wired Controller and a couple of old Infrared Wireless controllers and 8 cars. What would be a good addition to our set? appreciate your advice.
      Not sure if it would be redundant if I buy a Carrera App Connect Set and a Position Tower. Don't they do the same thing and display the results? Pros and Cons?
      I know that no sense having a Carrera Digital 124/132 Lap Counter if my priority is the APP Connect.
      Not sure if I can buy the new Carrera 124/132 Pit Lane as a standalone or do I need to buy Carrera Digital 124/132 Driver Display (6 displays for that matter if I intend to have 6 drivers racing) otherwise, I cannot utilize the pit lane right?
      Can I just have the Pit Lane and the App Connect? Will itstill work and the App Connect Displaying all I need. I am prioritizing what I buy so I can maximize the benefits but not spend too much for now. Thank you
