Dear Rosella I recently discovered you on Facebook and some how found this. Have been celebrating The Feast Of The 7 Fishes since I was born. Now I continued the tradtion with my wife and now 5 kids. My Nonna had a version of the Salsd you made but I really like this recipe and will definitly make it for Christmas 2023. We usually have about 30 people over each family contributes a Fish Dish. Since everyone has so much fun we look forward to Christmas Eve every year. Thank you Rosella, I wish my Nonna were alive to see your videos,and share in this most wonderful feast

I made this recipe for lunch and it is sooo good. I don't know if I want to save some for my husband or not, lol. I only used 4 types seafood: mussels, scallops, octopus and shrimps.
I can't wait to make this salad - it looks so scrumptious! I do have two questions: 1) If there are leftovers, how long will it still taste fresh if refrigerated? Or can it be frozen? 2) What kind of white wine do you use? Thank you in advance for your kind response!

To get a crisper texture on these fishes, it would be good to put each of them in an ice water bath for ten minutes for a crunchy crisp mouth feel. Just before seasoning and assembling. It's a wonderful dramatic difference . Give it a try, you'll love the texture.
I’m 100% Italian I make my fish salad very early in the morning on Xmas Eve I’m sure you can prepare everything overnight if you desire just make sure if you do it’s in a nice big bowl and cover it very tightly I know they’re saying add olives and carrots We DO Not add them We add just fresh garlic , celery , , fresh Italian flat parsley, pure extra-virgin olive oil, fresh lemon , a dash of black pepper (Optional ) and not too much salt , you can always add more after you taste it remember garlic has a lot of salt too. Just be careful with the salt.lol About the muscles? I make mine separately in a big pot and will never get rid of the mussel juice I don’t add the mussel juice to the salad no way… My mussel juice is like gold to me so , I can dip my Italian bread in it Well, there you go… (PS )plus all the fish they added. I even add sliced scungilli in the can by La Monica brand (aka Conch ) all ready cooked and is soft as butter We love it!!😋but , I don’t use the juice it’s packed in i drain it that’s the way I was taught by my grandmother. We don’t add all those other carrots and green olives fillers if anything , some Italians use small or medium size pitted black olives whole or sliced That’s the real Italian traditional way.lol 😊😉
I love seafood salad. Many times for Christmas, I would stuff myself with squid salad and ignore the foods others would like. BTW, mother Corleone Sicily, father Palermo Sicily.

All apologize , but musells do not need to be desanded since they do not grow in sand , they are harvested on pilietings . Good though still happy with the outcome .
So - Who is the real cook here? We have an older lady who really knows what she is doing. And a younger lady who is taking the credit . I would like to see the older lady do a series of her own.

You keep it organized and make sure all the info necessary is communicated clearly so that the recipes can be replicated. You bring the nonnas to us. People want to self design every thing they encounter to meet their own small whims. That's their problem, not yours. I look forward to making this seafood salad soon. It's not something I've done before, for some strange reason. Brava!

My Dad always made a fish salad for Christmas Eve. I now carry on the tradition we use crab instead of the baccala. Merry Christmas enjoy

Overnight will toughen the shrimp. Just a couple of hours.. Frankly I would leave out the shrimp until ready to serve......

Yes to fully soften. They are very tough. You can check them after 15-20 minutes and if they taste tender enough to you that's fine
