Nice! Once you start, it's hard to know when to stop. There's a certain (warped) sense of humour unique to us in Oz, which is good to hear! Found your channel looking for what problems others may have found before I restore my drill press, similar to yours. It's given me a few ideas & reminded me of a few of my own that I'd (almost!) forgot. As a multiple tradesman, my father brought us up with an interesting perspective on tools. "Find more than one use for every tool you own & they'll serve you well & save you money" "And, as always, customise everything" is a very good saying. 👍 Nothing is perfect from the factory with too many compromises. Who really wants what everyone else has got? 4:35 "Oh, wow! It's got a wasp nest inside" 🤣🤣 At 4:21 there's a reback egg sack! 🤣🤣 Better mud wasp nests than paper wasps!
Yeah I was going to clean up the top half as well but once it was all rust free and working again I started using it as a drill press and didn't bother with the top end rebuild because it wasn't broke. It's funny that you mention finding extra uses for tools because when I was in trade school I learnt that anything is a hammer if you can swing it... It's not a great second function for a lot of tools but also not untrue As for the wasp options I found a 10cm paper wasp nest in the front of the blue canoe jet boat when I was putting the steering back together so that was fun. Luckily it was also empty so not a huge hassle.
I would never have thought of using the drill press itself to surface the table like that. Now if only the table on my project drill press wasn't a square one with t-slots in it!
Ooh T-slots. Maybe you could try the hand drill option 😄 but it's probably safer just to put a new scotchbrite wheel in a grinder and hold it flat on the surface.
@@juscozcustoms I was thinking along those lines as well. Not having a lathe, your method of cleaning up the pillar left me a bit jealous, but it also got me thinking about how I can rig up something to spin the ~6' long pillar from my drill...
Using the drill to clean itself! *chef kiss*
3/4 HP hand drill was a hefty handful but it did a good job.

I might have to find a bit of copyright free funk for a future videos.
Shiny 👍😎👍
A lot more than it was😁
It has proven to be a very useful tool with the Bitza build so I'm glad I found it
