For sure. I can't wait to report back after a season of heavy use. I plan on getting 3 or 4 more of the casting rods here shortly to test out some of the heavier power ratings.
I just bought the new KVD 7'1 cranking stick. Love it. The fritz perfect cranks is my favorite though, I mean they are similar but I'm a David Fritz fan boy lol 😂. His 7'11 is my deep crank rod.
The he 7’10 rod says it’s for deep diving crankbaits but it only has a lure weight rating of 1/4-3/8. How will this rod be able to withstand fishing a 10XD? Is this the rod Kevin uses for deep cranks?
@@owenwaddell8281 it make take a couple of days because of the holiday, but I will contact them tomorrow and stay on top of it for you. I know the Fritts MH 7'11" rod says up to 3oz.
@@SteveRogersOutdoors I thought that as well. I would prefer not to have a rod that long but if that’s the only rod available I’ll have to do it. I thought he had a 7’4 MH that was weighted for up to 2 ounces but maybe I’m wrong. Thanks for the help though!
@owen waddell I talked to Lew's. That is the correct rating on that rod. There was supposed to be more in the series, but COVID complications forced the line to be narrowed down. I would try the Fritt's series if you are looking for a composite rod for that weight rating. I hope this helps. Steve
I can't wait to get a full season with these. Always love trying new stuff. I sold Quantum as a sales rep for a couple of years. I moved a lot of them.
@@SteveRogersOutdoors Steve I did buy the GC4 KVD rod for my KVD reel. Thanks for your video I bought this matching set with confidence. I'm looking to use very soon.
I would try adding some grease to the small removable grease port on the bottom side. I haven't experienced that - let me know what happens after you grease it.
I personally have not used the black custom combo, but I can say that I have been very happy with the KVD rods and reels. I worked a retail event last weekend for and there were lots of folks looking at and buying the KVD baitcast reel. I have used the rod designed for jerkbaits a lot this year so far and it has been impressive.
I got the last kvd caster in stock which was the display told me I could wait for more didn't want to take a chance so it was a left I use both hands to reel anyway no luck on the cc caster rod so I got a bass pro shop cranking stick for 80 then I caved and bought the 12 kvd crankbait kit for 70 dam you cabelas lol thanks for the help but I do plan on getting the cc still

Some nice qualities in that price range for the rods and reels. Nice stuff kvd. Thanks for sharing Steve!

Good review man!
Thanks!
OMgosh! I would absolutely love to have one of these combos! Great vid Steve!
I've really enjoyed using mine so far. The 6'8" jerkbait rod has been so much easier to use than the longer one I had rigged before.
Great info, looking into buying one this week.
I've been very happy with mine so far! I have more coming soon.
Thanks for the website man gonna subscribe

I love the Fritz rods too. I use a couple of them all the time. I just love getting new equipment to try out.
Great clip ,what's the frog rod # thanks🐸🎣
It’s the GC5
Looking to get my first casting rod combo. Thinking about the Lew’s Black Custom🤔
That would be a good one. Best of show at Icast a couple of years ago.
Thanks much Steve
You're welcome!
Can I use this for saltwater as well?
I’m talking about the rod
Should be able to. The guides are stainless. Great question.

Great question. I'm wondering if that is a misprint on the website. I will get ahold of Lew's and find out for you.

I use his “old” Quantum rods for cranking --awesome stuff
I can't wait to get a full season with these. Always love trying new stuff. I sold Quantum as a sales rep for a couple of years. I moved a lot of them.
I run his old kvd tour cranking stix. Hands down the best big fish crank rod I own. Hope these are just as good
How would you compare the kvd rods to the lews team signature series
I really, really like the KVD series. I would say not quite the Team series, but for the price, a very solid series of rods.
I'm buying this kvd reel but I'm open to match up a rod, it's up for research for me
For sure. So excited for you! Love getting a new rod and reel. The research part is pretty enjoyable. I've really enjoyed the reel so far.

@@DFox-ud3gx awesome! I have really liked mine so far. Let me know what you think after catching some bigs on it.
I have a lews kvd that I’ve had for about 2 years. When reeling it feels almost vibrating. I tried oiling it, new line. Didn’t help. What could it be?

Should I get this kvd rod reel combo or just get the lews black custom combo 🤔dam any recommendations

Awesome ...I only use alx rods
There are so many good ones. I need a bigger rod locker! Lol
@@SteveRogersOutdoors very good point......
What KVD reel would you suggest to pair with the jerkbait rod? Thanks in advance.
The 7.2 or 8.3 would work really nice. The bait is moving on the slash, so the reel is just pulling up that slack line. I really like mine.
I like using crankbait, spinners most of the time
If you like using crankbaits make sure to check out the composite crankbait rods. They really make a difference on the hookset and landing the fish.
