This is a Toyota HiAce Double Cab 4X4 pick up truck. Its on Toyotas H platform that can be made into other body styles. Has a 2.5L 4cyl diesel engine mated to a 5 speed manual. Pretty solid little vehicle.

This is what my 4WD Hijet wants to be when it grows up. I'd love to have a 4WD Toyota diesel Hiace with a full size pickup bed (no fender wells intruding as on pickups in the US market) and a full size crew cab. It'd be great to drop a custom made camper box into the bed and make it an overland vehicle although I think the ground clearance is less than most people would assume from the appearance. I wonder what it would cost for liability insurance in the US.

The mystery box that's talking to you is the Japanese Toll card slot. Most of the time on startup they let you know that the cards NOT inserted.

It's been a few years but if my memory serves me right, it wasn't horrible. The gearing in the trans was good enough for the highway.
