    Thanks so much for your great vids! Am planning our hikes there in april. We gleaned loads of tips and misses. "Resort hell" was a huge redflag for us. Def will try our darnest to skip that. Had to google map & pics exactly where that Starbucks was. Had a general idea where those stretches could be. Much thanks again for all your Olle vids!

      Thanks very much! Haha, well, sounds like your preparations are well underway! Actually a little bit jealous… would love to be back on Jeju and walking the Olle Trail again. Good luck!
      And if you haven’t come across any of our written stuff yet, we’ve got a bunch of guides here:

    is it possible to take a toddler on route 7? i want to see highlights of route 7 with my daughter.
    edit: i found your blog. thanks!

      I would say it's certainly possible for the initial section, probably skipping the oreum (Sammaebong). It's boardwalk most of the way along that coastal section passing by oedolgae and very beautiful. There is also shade and plenty of picnic and rest spots in this section. After that it's probably too much for a toddler. We've written a bit more about it here - www.goingthewholehogg.com/jeju-olle-trail-part-3-routes-7-to-12/#olleroute7 Enjoy!

    Hi, it's me again. I'm addicted to your Olle videos - they motivate me to get strong and fit for my tentative winter track. A question: is it safe for a woman to do all the trails alone? I've been living in Korea for a long time And I feel super safe here, But the official site of Olle trail states "
    Some parts are dark and deserted so it's best to have a hiking buddy. " what are your thoughts?

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you’re enjoying them! To be honest I don’t think it’s a problem. Sure, there are some sections that have no phone reception and are in gotjawal forests for a while, so best to enter early in the day so it doesn’t get dark. But it’s no more dangerous for a woman than a man! A hiking buddy is good I guess just in case you hurt yourself and then can’t phone for help. Normal hiking common sense is all you need really!

      Going The Whole Hogg thanks so much for the prompt answer. I wish my friends were keen on trekking but sadly they are not. The ones who are left Korea one after the other. I'm an experienced hiker /trekker though . Hallasan is the only major mountain in Korea I haven't hiked. I've done Annapurna and Inca Trail. But I'm getting older and weaker, hence the worry. Anyway, I'll do this trail even if it kills me. Cheers and thanks again. Looking forward to watching more of your videos

      If you’re an experienced hiker you’ll have no problem I’m sure, the Olle Trail is nothing compared to those high altitude treks! There are regular group walks on the Olle too, although not sure how often they go in winter. The main Jeju Olle website will have more info!

      Going The Whole Hogg the thing is, I dint want to go in a group. And I changed my plan to cover the whole trail at one time - I mean I might do it later, but for now I booked 10 days around Chusseok and am covering trails 1 through 8. That might be too ambitious considering my present physical condition but I have two months to train. If you don't mind, where did you buy your hiking clothes? Online or were you able to find them in Korea? I'm not roughing it like you, I booked hotels and guest houses along the way

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With a light daypack that shouldn’t be too ambitious a plan! Actually all those hiking clothes we brought from home. So ordering online I guess would be the best equivalent. There are loads of hiking shops in Korea obviously, but the clothes tend to be a bit on the bright (and small!) size for my liking ; ) Have a wonderful time on the Olle, and just let us know if you have any more questions!

    Maybe I missed out but when was this trip ?
    Seems very windy

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Goh Chu Haw we walked the whole Olle Trail in May/June. Some days, and certain areas of the island, were super windy. Guess that’s why there are so many wind turbines 😉

    Women in a wet suit wearing high heels! I can do one better. Watching five Korean women in summer dresses wearing high heels three hundred meters from the peak of Halla mountain.

      No way!! I really hope they just changed for the photo shoot and didn't hike the whole way in high heels!!
