In this lesson, we will learn the very important skill of adding fractions. In this case, we will add fractions that have unlike denominators, which means that the bottom numbers of the fractions are not the same. In order to add fractions, the denominator of both fractions must equal the same number. In these problems, the first step is to change the fractions by multiplying the numerator and denominator by the same number with the goal of expressing both fractions in terms of the same denominator. Then, we add the fractions as usual and simplify the result. Here we use fraction models to understand what it means to find a common denominator and to fully understand what it means to add fractions together.
There are many math teachers on TH-cam but when I'm doing a new topic and I don't know who to trust with my learning I come to your channel. Thank you sir.
Welcome!
Wow!!! You were born to do this. You are what I call a True teacher. Thank you.
At 50 years old, I decided to take an IT course and because I don't have a college education, I need to take a basic skills assessment. To my dismay, I've learned it will include fractions and decimals! I haven't done math with fractions or decimals in ages! Thank you so much for making this as simple as possible!
Am 45yrs and also here learning fracción to asist myself and my son .
He is the best maths teacher to my own judgment
Ok
You always have a great pattern of teaching math lessons that can easily be understood by students in elementary grade..Great job , sir..God bless..Students are learning from you well..God bless..
Thank you so much!
How does he do this 😵😵💫🤔😱
Yeah you're right
hie sir need course how much plz but am starting From directed numbers
Love your channel! You are helping me explain these math concepts so much better to students....

No don't do that
It was very helpful
Although I don't need this kind of lessons myself, I strongly believe that your tutorials/instructional videos will make it into history. Your approach and ease of passing information to the viewer are highly valuable. I reckon that many people without access to quality education will grow to become better people (or engineers) with your help. Whoever's got some math or physics deficiencies, I recommend them your channel and the website. Please keep up the excellent work.
By the way, thank you for the series on Laplace Transform.
Thanks so much - I really appreciate it!

Hi his lessons are just great Because he helps me remember some things I have learned in 5th grade what do you think
And you also make math super easy thank you
May God bless you more and more and all the good people out there! You have no idea how much you've helped me understand this. You are such a great teacher!
Great stuff! I wish I had those magnets back when I was a kid struggling with fractions. Question: what do you think of the "butterfly" method of adding fractions?
Hese blown my mind once again! Like dudeeeee you have helped me so much! Hese been making math click for me! Thanks so much Math and Science! Hope you get 1M soon! 👍📌
*note: 6/9 is odd and even, but can still be simplified to 2/3. So when it is said that you can not simplify any further because one number is odd and the other is even, that might be a little confusing!
Amazing video though! CLEAR visuals and reasoning. I love love love this!! ❤️
Great point and thank you!!
You’re a true teacher! If kids could learn math that way, many of them would love this subject. Math is amazing it depends who teaches you that. Thank you so much!
you are the best at what you do. thanks for helping me love math again.
Hhat is this thing
Thanks for helping me teach my son I never understood in school and now I do ❤️❤️
Your teaching methods are exceptionally impressive and effective. God bless you and your family.
ThBk you so much!
If you think the same thing as me then we will all agree that he is the best teacher so you guys have to think about what you are going to say to him
Very clear explanation, thank you professor!
Welcome!
Unquestionally, he has a great talent for teaching; he makes every effort so that the least of his students will grasp his concepts. He is doing a great job!
Yep his doing great🕴😁😁
I clicked on this because it looked scary. But... you simplified everything to make it very easy to learn.
I wish I could give you a trophy for TH-cam TEACHER OF THE DECADE.🏆🏅🥇🎖
I will be so glad to have amazing teacher like you thank you so much
Wonderful amazing great video!!! I was very disappointed because I did not think in your first explanation what the problem, when converted, would look like in tenths! I thought I was going to have to visualize and conceptualize the changed fractions myself!!! AND, I really, really wanted to see what was really going on after you converted the original fraction! BUT, you HAVE Shown what really happens after you change the denominators (to all tenths)! SO, a BIG, THANK YOU, from me to you!!! And, it's actually more of a reason than what they look like.
Dear Sir, you are truly blessed to teach with skill and paitence ? Your channel is awesome ! God bless you always 🙏 thank you
I noticed that the common denominator is usually the larger denominator of the two fractions within the problem. And multiplying the smaller denominator of the two fractions by a number that makes it equivalent to the larger denominator to find the common, add, then simplify.
Oh my God this man makes maths so enjoyable, simple...thank you Professor..
I watch your lesson before helping my duother. Good job 👌
Cool you cool i got a A+ thanks

@@mathsandsciencechannel I LOVE YOUR VIDS
Thanks for teaching me Something Useful
Good work sir
Usually, teachers will explain how to do the solutions but not answer WHY we did the solution. I am trying to have a good grip on Math and Chemistry fundamentals. I will be a college student soon, it embarrasses me that I am slow in both subjects, and I even chose a STEM course. I am afraid to be a laughing stock in college and decided to learn these things. Thank you so much.
I am not excellent in math or science, but if I could learn English and Art on my own, maybe there is hope for me.
I like your video because it helps me in my work and test i think it can help my brother's
You are really helping me thank you
Very good teaching...I'm not an english native speaker but I got the whole idea.
You make maths so easy
Thank you so you tought me a best fraction in my life may God bless you 🙏 for ever
Wow you are great at explaining!!! Thank you so much!
This really helped keep doing what you do!

Hi
You can also do it by finding the LCM of the denominators.
I had never understood aboit fractions but now I do. Thank you very much
Very informative thankyou!
You are the best professor of math
This person is underrated, this person teaches better than my teacher 😂😅
Thank buoy so much!
Thanks sir and God will bless you
Nice One!

Very good explanation
I want LCM addition and subtraction
A 33 minute video with no ads? Absolutely unbelievable 😮
Edit: Who agrees?
Much respect, I have sabscribe
Brilliant , simple explanations
why we use 2x2 and 4x2 to make 4 by 8 in simplest form why we don't use 1+1+1+1 by 1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1 and cut similar one to make 4 by 8 in simplest form
Liked very informative
Thank you.
Can u help me with work
Here is my thought I think he is a good teacher and he is very talented.
hello! I am a math teacher from another country. I am interested in methods of teaching mathematics in other countries. Where do you order teaching materials?
THANK YOU... SIR...!!!
I think LCM and LCD are the same except that LCM is more generally used and LCD is used with fractions, while adding fractions.
Kids would have enjoyed your lesson, adding fractions. Even the adults could if they haven't done it earlier as I did it once.
A story is to motivate
A lesson is to teach
An example is to inspire
Time is to test.
Thank you!

@@mathsandsciencechannel I think of some shortcut methods to find LCD:
1. If the denominators of fractions are primes, just multiply them to get LCD.
2. If one denominator is divisible by another evenly, then dividend is the LCD.
3. List some multiples of larger denominator, divide those by another, the first multiple that divides enenly is the LCD.
I wish I had you when i was a kid I would give you a hug thanks 🙏 im trying to build my foundation learning everything back in school my teacher was bullying me when i was a kid I had social anxiety i was making excuses to not go to school to avoid made fun of by my school kids they know I had heart palpitations because they can hear it and i was absent minded because I was anxious and on stress from 6 am to 12 i hide behind the desk most of days in school i missed the large majority
and thanks for the information

Ong bruh 💀
Sir what would be the answer of 2/8 + 2/9 ? The denominators are even and odd they haven't same multiples .. please sir
Make a denominator to 72. Multiply by 9 to 2/8 and multiply by 8 to 2/9 so 18/72+ 16/72=34/72
Thanks

Math and Science
if i add fraction and i don't simplify the sum fraction will my answer be correct ???
for example:
1/4 + 1/4 = 2/4
Yes, it is correct in that it gives the correct addition of the fractions. However, you will probably get points taken off for not simplifying to lowest terms. So, it is mathematically correct but we always want to simplify when we can.
I guess he 's right
