      The Meng Dynasty 明朝 (1368 - 1644) built the Palace (Today's Forbidden City ) at Peking in 1406, completed in 1420 with the entire wooden structures ( close to 10,000 structures ) built without a single piece of iron nail.

      I read your comment while he was making the pencil markings and i was thinking how i could probably do that if i had all the equipment this guy has. Then i see he start using hand tools. Then i understood. Respect.

      I could not make a tighter joint than that even with my modern woodworking tools that I own right now. For a fact, I know I couldn’t get it that tight and snug!! Wtf?! He’s literally needing to tap the dry fit apart from each other!! That’s insane!! Master Joint Maker.

    The joy on this man's face says it all... this video is oddly calming. Sharp chisels, a well-worn workbench, years of practice and refinement making it all seem so effortless. Patience. Faith. A nice break from our modern world.

  • @williamjohnson5707

    Wow, he did that by hand with a better fit that most power tools could provide. Amazing 👏

    • @ppppppqqqppp
      @ppppppqqqppp ปีที่แล้ว +1

      fun fact about this style of woodworking but it actually relies on being technically a "bad" fit
      you want the inner piece to be a *tiny* bit too big or the outer piece to be a *tiny* bit too small.
      The trick is that the inaccuracies produced by working by hand actually make the joint a lot tighter, even if you're building them to match each other.

    Make the joint exactly the same.
    Store one of them in a cold place the other one in a warm place.
    After a day you put them together and when they adjust to temperature they will fit perfect.
