    • @ericwalsh2954
      @ericwalsh2954 4 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      Also in the EU we use a minor mixture of them since it's easier for example we use inches and feet instead of centimetres for heights and leghts (a person will know there height in feet generally and will measure a board by its length in inches or centimeters which ever is the smaller or easier to work with number number so as to save space or time, example) you generally know a kilometre because you know how fast you can run 5 (about 20 mins so a kilometre is a 5 min jog) our system is more about being as simple as possible to say and work with which is why generally you only need to know theres 100/10 of a measurement in the next highest level (funnily enough our use of feet and inches only happens when it's with our own body or something that is a completely even 10 feet which generally won't happen)

    Example: The crew of a Tribal-class destroyer at the battle of Narvik, went ashore to steal a German motorbike and quite a number of automobile parts after dealing with a sniper by bombarding him with an octuple 40mm Pom-Pom. And at the Battle off Matapan, the crew of a British destroyer attempted to steal an entire Italian cruiser.

The Sherman was a literal death trap that lit first every time. The T-34 broke down after 25 kilometers every time. Especially since here in the US we use both imperial and metric. I use metric on a daily basis and can visualize at least units of volume weight and distance just fine. Like, if you've ever done anything remotely scientific or engineering related you've used metric volume, distance and temperature measurements. To be fair though I find it just as silly when people from other countries comment on a primarily US channel demanding metric measurements. Ypu can use Google if you need to convert.

    • @annnnnnnn394
      @annnnnnnn394 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      connly33 it is not always that easy to convert measurements. For example, when I was baking and the recipe mentioned cups, I searched it on the internet to convert to grams. I looked on three different websites. They all gave me a different amount.
      For example, 1 cup of flour can be 120 grams on one site, 136 grams on another and on a third site it can weigh 150 grams. If it was two grams, it wouldn’t be much of a difference. But 30?

    • @CondoreComputing
      @CondoreComputing 4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      @@annnnnnnn394 I agree. But that's not converting units, like grams to oz. That's converting measurements, from volume, cups, to weight in grams or vice versa. 1 cup of loosly packed flour is lighter than one cup of dense packed flower. It would be like converting cups to pounds. Its always an estimation. I got a cheap little food scale for cooking when I try out international recipe's and it helps a ton :)

    • @thehellhound8582
      @thehellhound8582 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @André Martins Which relies on both how fine the flour is and compression. A good example is sugar crystals with powdered sugar, weight wise you can fit more powdered sugar in a cup than coarse crystals.

      The bad comments. One channel, but still a good example of how morons can ruin the fun.

      In the context of the WWII US military, that's true-ish, but that's more of a "not all tank destroyers are tanks" - because a tank destroyer was basically "anything we slapped an AT gun onto for use in the TD corps.

      I trust a 3 year old to tell the tank apart from anything else better than the people they're like tank destroyers aren't tanks

    I'm not even interested in weaponry and stuff. This video just appeared in my recommended page and BOI AM I GLAD IT DID! Thank you SO MUCH for giving mean commenters the answer they deserve in an honest way and without being "cringe" -as the way they word it lol
    As a Turkish myself I never understood how people managed to be so simple and stupid to the point they just believe one selfish perspective of the history and argue in the most disrespectful way with those who know/think it differently. That gatekeeper stereotype is everywhere in Turkey tbh and they're constantly devouring my life energy in every point in life...
