    Eddie, thanks a lot from Brazil. You helped me a lot with your tutorial. I was able to configure the blind. I ask for your help regarding the air conditioning that gets hot. I understood in your video that I must get the code for the option that heats up. My device has fan control with 4 speed options and also has the option of swing on or off. It's a Fujitsu. Should I save all configuration options? Example (heat + 30 degrees + fan 100% + swing on), (heat + 30 degrees + fan 100% + swing off), (heat + 30 degrees + fan 70% + swing on), (heat + 30 degrees + fan 70% + swing off), (heat + 30 degrees +fan 50% + swing on), (heat + 30 degrees + fan 50% + swing off), (heat + 30 degrees + fan 20% + swing on), and so on until you complete all heat and cool mode combinations, all temperatures, all speeds and all swing combinations? Another question, the right way to capture the control code is to leave the control in the desired configuration, then turn it off, then put the BroadLink in learn mode and then click on the air conditioning control to turn it on?

    • @eddiedsuza
      @eddiedsuza  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Paul - you have to capture and save every configuration option to make it work natively in Homekit ... you'll need to be careful with your copy & paste as well so that when the plugin saves & restarts - you don't see an errors.

      I'll be honest with using AC's and Broadlink - it's a pain to capture every temperature value and configure every functionality and no. 2 AC's have the same code. I'd recommend get a sensibo that will auto do all this for you and save you time n frustration. For simple on / off commands - this plugin works fantastic.

    Hi Eddie, sorry to resurect this thread, but I just found out about your channel by looking about information on how to integrate an IR Remote into Homekit.
    Thanks to your tutorial I have discovered your incredible videos and I'm totally in now.
    However, I have a problem using Broadlink RM 4 Pro with Homebridge. The integration works perfectly and I have set it up to control an Audio Amplifier (on/off and volume up/down buttons) as if it was a TV.
    The control from the Broadling application works fine, but using Apple's Home app, the pressure of the buton to power on the device is too short. I mean, if I use the Bradlink App, I can see the orange light on the controller lighting for a couple of seconds, and turn the audio amplifier, but from the Home App, it only bliks too quick and is not enough to turn on the device.
    I've tried with the setting to sendCount 3, but it only blinks three times too quick so the device doesn't turn on.
    Any advice?
    Many thanks for your time

      Ivan ... i am glad you got the integration into HomeKit ... is there a way in the plugin configuration to add in a delay command. This plugin has the capability to add in a lot of device types and i havent had the opportunity to test them all out.

    I *really* appreciate the work you did with this video! (You probably didn't expect having to do full-time tech support because of this...) I'm getting ready to tackle this but have one basic question. My Broadlink device is currently configured with all my home theater components and IR commands. I assume HomeBridge/HOOBS requires the process you have outlined, as opposed to being able to access the HEX codes that have previously been learned?

    • @eddiedsuza
      @eddiedsuza  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Appreciate the feedback as well... Well if you are using Homebridge or HOOBS - you'll need the plugin to capture the HEX codes again to configure your devices but this does not interfere or break your current setup that's connected with the broad link hub.

    Hey Eddie. A 'rabbit hole' of searches led me here...Perhaps you can provide some input based upon your experience with RF control/integration.
    Will the Broadlink allow for control of ANY 315MHz/433MHz device? I want to have HomeKit (via HomeBridge) send a signal to lock my car doors when I initiate a 'good night' scene.
    * From my research, it looks like I could alternately use an RF Scan tool (software) to grab the HEX Code from my car key fob(s)...then 'possibly' input the HEX into the plug-in configuration?
    There is, literally, zero information available for adding car locks to HomeBridge...but, in simple terms, it's a very similar action to what the Broadlink device is doing for RF controlled accessories in the house.
    Thoughts?

    • @eddiedsuza
      @eddiedsuza  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Bradley - Perhaps you can add the door lock as a switch because none of the plugins for Homebridge supprot locks. All youll need to do is ensure the broadlink learns the HEX code.
      The idea here is you can use as a switch which is - Open = Car Open / Off = Car locked (something like that)
      Well i defintely didnt see anyone doing it with their cars ..... Good Luck and hopefully I helped.

    • @uniqueflh2941
      @uniqueflh2941 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eddiedsuza - Thanks MUCH for your reply!
      This idea is bizarre I know. But, given the key fobs for cars all operate on 315/433MHz I thought I could get it to work...
      Unfortunately, it appears that cars are using 'rolling codes' for all aspects of remote operation - and it seems that the RF Modules (for HomeBridge/Hoobs) are incapable of matching that security protocol.
      I am going to continue to do some research, but I am not confident it will work.
      Also - it is a VERY difficult solution to try to find any data on. Apparently I am the only one who wants to LOCK a vehicle with a 3rd-party device. But there are ALL sorts of resources for UNLOCKING a vehicle. Seems there are many people who want to get into cars...
      Anyway. Thanks again for the reply.

    I have a tower fan in my office that uses IR controlled through the Broadlink. I have a few questions. Is it possible to add or rename a command in the JSON?? My fan has a 5 button remote.... Power, Speed, Oscillate, Timer & ION. I'd like use commands like this "Siri (or Alexa), change office tower fan speed," or "Siri (or Alexa), oscillate office tower fan" ... or even the timer ... the timer can be anywhere between 1 hour to 8 hour, each press of the timer button increases it by 1, so with the timer off, pressing the timer 2 times sets the timer for 2 hours. If pressing the timer button after setting it for 8 hours, it'll turn the timer off - i.e.: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 0, 1, 2, etc. I'd like to say "Siri (or Alexa), set office tower fan timer for 3 hours" and it'll send out the timer button command, wait a half second, send out another timer button command, etc.
    However, the issues I have is I'd rather have the "swingToggle" labeled as oscillate, I only have one fan speed button that goes from 3, to 2, to 1, then back to 3... etc; There's no button command for the ION, or timer. Can these be added??
    Also, the only options I have on Alexa under the device section is power and swing toggle...
    Any ideas??
    Instead of this:
    {
    ...
    "name": "Example Fan",
    "type": "fan",
    "data": {
    "on": "ON_HEX_CODE",

    "fanSpeed60":"FAN60_HEX_CODE",
    "fanSpeed100":"FAN100_HEX_CODE"
    }
    ...
    }
    Can I use this:
    {
    "name": "Example Fan",
    "type": "fan",
    "data": {
    "on": "ON_HEX_CODE",
    "off": "OFF_HEX_CODE",

    Hi Eddie,
    Still v much enjoying your videos - in fact most of my home automation setup so far is down to your education.
    I’m sticking my comment here, as my question is to do with IR devices. I have set up a single Homebridged remote controlling my plasma and my preamp like they are one device, with Siri commanded scenes and everything. Works brilliantly.
    Except… if one of my kids decides to switch the tv and preamp on the old fashioned way, homebridge is obviously unaware of it, and the switch states aren’t updated. So they are inverted and I have to say “telly on” to switch it off to call the kids down to dinner (brutal daddy…) Then later on when I want to watch tv I have to “resync” the IR device switches in homebridge manually. Not the end of the world, but mildly irritating.
    Any solutions for this?
    Thanks, and keep the vids coming!

    Hi Eddie,
    Great video, although I would have liked to be able to cross check your code with mine. I have extracted all the hex codes and put it into the cofig, but I keep getting this message when I restart the Homebridge:

    [BroadlinkRM] No accessories have been added to the "undefined" platform config.
    Initializing platform accessory 'Learn'...
    Initializing platform accessory 'Scan Frequency'...
    So the accessories are not added to Homekit. I don't get a Homekit code to add it, like you do in the video.

      Hello Onder - I did see a video online where someone integrated Broadlink with HA. But once the device / plugin learns the code - you can practically get the whole control via the remote app in apple.
