      @@ThermalSolutionsHVACR If Milwaukee makes one then there will be other battery makers to sell equivalent batteries with more amp-hours & cheaper. That's a petty good reason in it self.

    As they say. Seeing is believing.
    Sweet vacuum setup as well.
    Brings a smile to my face when I see a service tech lug a 10 cfm pump on a service truck that just does 5 ton and down service work .

    Update 6/26/2019 - After continuing to try it at the video posters recommendation, I have found that it is quite an incredible little machine. While it is pretty terrible for dehydrating a system (takes 2-3 times longer than a 6 or 8cfm), it is pretty impressive at pulling a vacuum on a new system. I pulled a vacuum on a 2.5ton system in 1:40. Quite impressed. If you have to repair a system that may have gotten a little moisture in it, this pump will end up taking 2-3 hours, but on a new install, less than 5 minutes and you’re set.
    Bought the navac battery operated pump based on this video... word of advice. Don’t waste your money. I paired the pump with the bluvac hoses. It started pulling down fast as hell. Made it down to about 2000 microns and slowed down. After an hour, it went down to 1760 microns. To get you all the info, it was a new 4 ton Amana condenser and coil, about 25’ 7/8” line set.
    Same exact set up as him but not the same results. I’m not questioning the posters integrity, but I can definitely say, it didn’t happen here.

      @SubZero-st3ct ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same here, I tried to pull a vacuum with both cores out and with (2) 3/4 inch hoses and ended up pulling down to 5,000 microns after 1/2 hr. Disappointed I was. Anyways, I’m returning the pump and going to try the 4CFM cordless next. I’m hopping to get better results with it.

    Looks like it broke 500 microns in about 6 minutes, and the decay time was extended. How long from start to the BluVac gave you a passing evacuation? From what I understand that pump will run for about an hour on a single charge. You could have done easily 4-5 systems like that on one charge with those hoses. That pull down was almost straight down.

    We have had the Makita pump for a while but I have been unsure about buying it. It's single stage and they are not entirely clear on the CFM but i think it converts to about 1.75. I guess using the big hose kit would be the game changer for a small pump as you suggested.

    • @DaveVanWest
      @DaveVanWest 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jamesbowmanhvac2149 beg to differ, the Makita DVP180 goes down to 20 Pascals (150 microns), have family in Europe and Central America that use it for ductless split systems. It may be used for automotive because of low flow, however, it is marketed as an HVAC vacuum pump. Would have picked one up when I was there, but Makita is not the battery platform I'm using.

    • @jamesbowmanhvac2149
      @jamesbowmanhvac2149 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I said 100 microns you corrected me to 150 microns. The US uses much tighter standards then many other places around the world. Here in the US we just try to do things better and using a single stage pump just won’t cut it. Particularly if your getting into low or med temp stuff. After you add in hoses and connections the ability of a single stage pump to pull a deep enough vacuum becomes slim. Why use a low quality pump and take a chance on the job it will do when you can spend a few more dollars and get something better?

    • @jamesbowmanhvac2149
      @jamesbowmanhvac2149 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also the US is the largest market in the world. If Makita thought they could actually be successful here they would have brought It here already. NAVAC launched this pump in the US first so must be comfortable with the quality and ability to do the job here.

    I would like to try it before purchasing it, extreme cold & heat operations would be my concern, I wish the manufacturer gives the choice of battery or 120 volts. I am assuming this manufacturer is overseas, because most contractors here either uses Milwaukee or DeWalt, we really don’t want a cordless tool with different brand battery. If the manufacture did these 2 things they probably sell a lot them, I can see Technicians carry this as well as the standard vacuum pump. For me I prefer tools to be small, that is one reason I like the Refco 5 cfm Vacuum Pump. Good video

    Nice video. I got to admit, I was surprised. I can see a use for it. For me personally, I can't use it. For one, I do work on large industrial plants, and two, I live in Norway. It gets cold here in the winter, and the battery would be flat everytime I visit a customer. I already have enough of those problems with other tools. I could probably have use for it for some of the smaller things I work with, like changing filters, but it would mean that some tools would have to go, as space is already an issue.

      Nicholas Simpson I’d use the 12 cfm pump of theirs that I used on a 2500 ton centrifugal chiller a few weeks ago. That would easily handle a VRF system👍. Battery pump, not so much.

      @@AKHVAC sounds freaking epic. Whats a good pump for the price in your opinion. I have had luck with the appion tez 8 , heard some guys using the JB 10 cfm. Never heard of a 12 cfm pump. Id like to look it up. How do i find it

    Looks promising. Just out of curiosity how cold was it when you did that test. I can see the weather in the north possibly being the Achilles heel for something like this.

    Obviously after a proper 24 pressure test

    Proof in the puddin that it’s all about the hoses. It would however be entertaining to see that pump pull through valve cores 1/4” hoses and a manifold to prove the point. 2cfm pump for the win.

    Got to get one, I’m curious if the pricing is less than the currently available battery powered Navac’s .
    That would be ideal for a good bit of refrigeration work, reach in ‘s and walk in’s.

    • @AKHVAC
      @AKHVAC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It another term for when you reach your desired vacuum level, and valve off the vacuum pump. The “decay” test the rate that the microns rise back up. Different rates indicate different things, like a leak, presence of moisture or a tight system.
