Can’t believe I was 14-15 years old when I first heard this music. I was a shithead teenager riding my BMX bike around and getting into trouble. Now I’m 35, been married for 10 years and I have 2 kids. But the music still makes me feel the same.
Same ages here with this band These guys, Built to Spill, and Modest Mouse had something different to offer from every other band at the time and even now. Long lonesome drives Just me and my Jung book
First heard this band in 2008 and I still come back to them quite often. Always gives me an extremely strong sense of nostalgia for 2008-2013 time of my life. Love SKM...keep swimming in my heart!
@@lotusnaturals1897 I actually just visited Seattle where this band is from, now I can safely say things are looking up. Also, I can understand the dreariness and somberness to their lyrics a bit clearer now having seen the Washington, and Oregon state landscapes, and the cruel energies which inhabits there. Sometimes you just have to travel, I think we're born Nomads by default but get stuck in our ways and just sort of go along with it because it's what we're told we're supposed to do. Thanks for checking in.
I like how their lyrics are often nonsensical observations and throw away feelings. It's like they are jokingly telling you that the instrumentation and the performance are the point, nothing else.
@@JfromthaDale it's awesome, I can understand people not liking it but for me it's just a simple, pleasant loop to get lost in, for me it only feels like a few minutes instead of 10 so it works great!

hnnnnnnng
ok that trumpet section is way too fucking long
that was not trumpet, it was cello played by the singer's future wife
slightly agree. always thought it ruined this otherwise epic masterpiece
@@theStepFamm it's them saying fk it and defying standard music

@@lotusnaturals1897 very observational take, insightful too, A+ of a comment, someone reading this will actually remember it.
