The name. It derives from the name of the prototype presented by Bertone at the 1970 Turin Motor Show: Strato’s Zero.
Units made: 500 units were built to be approved by the F.I.A. (International Automobile Federation ) for rally racing.
Engine. Fiat (owner of lancia since 1969) asked Enzo Ferrari to use the "dino" engine on the Lancia Stratos in rally competitions and to produce a sports coupe (fiat dino coupe); initially reluctant, later accepted as he was interested in participating in formula 2 competitions and in order to do so it was necessary to homologate a production engine made of at least 500 units, which at the time was not able to produce.
