The game "Portal" came out about a year before this one(2007) I think, costed about $10, was made by less people, and is a much better experience overall... It's like they made it in the 1990s and didn't release it until 2008...

2:19 the phone continuously ringing, the sinister background music, and Noel's dead eyed stare combine nicely to make this feel like the perfect horror scene. Like almost the exact same thing happens in Don't Hug me I'm Scared and I could not tell you which one is scarier.

If I had to guess, one of the 10 studios involved in this monstrosity at some point realized the game was absolute shit so they just decided to just start trolling with hidden items in the game.
It's literally the only explanation I have

The Nintendo DS had a US version of this with Howie Mandel and it literally was coded to be the exact same every time you played it. Case #12 had 1mil every single time

The lore is actually kind of weird, the banker is not a good person, he stole candy from a baby, bought a country, married a supermodel, likes expensive restaurants, and is overall just a dick according to the honest interview.

Fun Fact: Here in the U.S., the children's show "Sesame Street" featured a skit called "Meal or No Meal," complete with puppet-host Howie Mandell. The puppet-contestant selected a covered dish and then had to decide if the items shown were a meal or not (e.g. plate of cookies = no meal). More drama & excitement than this game. Maybe Nintendo should acquire the concept rights? 🤔

So the US version has the 1.5/10 on IGN, with some reviewers even giving it at least a 5/10. Metacritic gave it a 56/100, with a total of 3 mixed reviews and 1 negative review by critics, and 2 negative reviews by users. I think the main reasoning it got anything at all was because of the Mii support or something.
The UK version simply has no ratings. Like anywhere. It's so bad it doesn't even exist as a product.
I myself live in England and actually have this game, but it's a different version. It isn't as bad as people say it is.

In case anyone is reading this comment five years later, it's "bad" that 50p is off the table because it means that the contestant didn't have 50p in his box and therefore might have a much larger value that is more than the banker offered. Of course, this can't actually be the case because Dan offered the max amount it's possible to win, but they didn't code the game with that in mind.

After accepting an offer: That's because you are trying to Hunt the £250,000. The game mechanic is to con the Banker. He cannot offer you more than the maximum amount left in the game. Suppose you found the maximum on the board was £100,000, then the maximum the banker can offer is £100,000 (often the mean of the totals). By accepting the £250,000, you want to sell your box that contains any amount lower than what you accepted.
It is for the banker, who you are.

Depending on what you get it removes it from the list no longer letting you get that amount of money, at the end of the show you would choose a box and whatever is in it that's what you would get
I think in the American version they just open all the boxes to show what was in them, but they don't continue playing. Then again, it has been awhile since I've watched the show

As the banker it's good when they knock out high amounts.
So basically... if he was offered 50k and took the deal, it would be seen as good to nock out the 250k, 100k, 75k because with those out of the game he knows he couldn’t have won anymore money that what he was offered. If all the higher boxes were still in the game but in the next round he took out 3 blues that would be horrible for him as he would have been offered more money by the banker after that round and it also means that with less blues on the board his chances of having the 250k in his box increases. That’s pretty much the gist of it👍😂
It's because, since it's lower then the offer, the offer would've been better. You know, if it wasn't max already.
This game seems like a legitimate scam to coax old people out of their hard-earned cash. Think about it, it's overpriced as hell, it's based on a TV game show and it's for the Wii which was branded as a console that you could get fit while playing. There is literally no other explanation I can think of as to why this game has so little effort put into it.
By the way the reason they were all booing the low value reveals in the banker mode was because after you deal you play on to see how much you could’ve won. So all the people are like oh no if you’d played on there would’ve been less blues and you would’ve got a better deal. Of course this masterpiece didn’t exactly take into account coding for a 250k deal lol

For the texture change at 13:57: when he's doing the dance, the box is part of the character model and its texture UV's are wrong.When he puts it down, the box becomes its own geometry and its UV's are correct again. Seems a little sloppy... likely an artist working on assets and character animations wasn't paying attention to details; either that or they had to rush/crunch to get the game out.

And just by a quick google search, other games which released in 2008 include...Fallout 3, GTA 4, Spore, Dead Space, Metal Gear Solid 4, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Lego Batman.
None of them hold a candle to this masterpiece.

The thing in Banker mode where they were upset about £5 is because he already took a deal from the bank and usually when you get lower numbers the bank offer gets higher. So they cheered at 250,000 going away because it meant that he made a good choice going with his deal, because he couldn’t have gotten the 250,000

If I were on "Deal or No Deal", then I'd just immediately take the banker's first offer.
Because, sure, maybe I could have won the £250,000 box, but if he's offering me, say, £75K then I'm perfectly happy.
I turned up, met Noel Edmonds and then someone gave me £75K. Going home with £75K would not be the worst thing that happened that day.
Even if I go home with just 50p, then that's still 50p more than I had when I showed up.
There is no failure state in this game. Whatever you do, someone gives you money.

I get what you're saying, but one could also argue that you came with nothing so you've got nothing to lose. Because sure, you could take the £75,000, but you (presumably) still have a shot at the £250,000.

It's good to get the lesser amounts because what you choose is deducted from your total winnings, I believe.

After giving it some thought, I finally understand the "banker" section of the video. After the deal was made, whenever a low value item was eliminated, that means it wasn't the one the "player" had, which increased the chances he made a bad deal (you want to be holding a low value box after making a deal with the banker). Any eliminated box below the deal value would be treated as a bad thing. When the 250k was eliminated, it wasn't the one the player had and the deal he'd locked in was at least that much, so the player had made a good choice making the deal.
It doesn't excuse how terrible the game design is, but at least it makes some amount of sense.
I can code a better game than this and all I know about coding is that you use ";" and "{ }" somewhere

Minecraft: Story Mode isn't even really a bad game to begin with. It's a decent game with shoddy writing that's clearly catered towards children. This is just awful.

I had the DS version which didn't have the introduction video and all the characters were still photos. But it did have the shows intro. Nobody talked and you couldn't choose a character. The only voices was when you had a bad box or a good box.

Also, something I’ve always thought was odd about deal or no deal is that people come from all over England to win money, but only one gets picked, if your not picked then there’s no point you being there anymore you might as well just leave since there is no chance of you winning cos you weren’t picked.
People stay there for weeks on end sometimes. If you don't get picked you stay to the next show.
It isnt uncut, i was there at the stream, he was playing the game for over a good hour.
A lot of these shows tape numerous episodes back to back. So if you're not on one episode you tend to stay around and hope to make another one of the episodes taped that day. Don't make it in any of those? Come back in a month and a half when they film more and try again.

It’s pretty simple, and RT basically had it down: the contestant picks a suitcase/box from the group and keeps it for the rest of the game. They then pick suitcases to eliminate from the models on stage, and after a few are opened, the Banker calls and will offer cash for the contestant to take in place of whatever’s in their suitcase. If they refuse, the cycle continues, until an offer is accepted or the final two suitcases are left, upon which (normally) a chance for a swap is made, and then the contestant’s suitcase is open and they take that much money home.
The Banker will always offer less than the maximum amount left on the board (and I don’t think it’s formulaic, but it’s priced to where it’s enticing to take at any time).
