This the best demo for the herring bone I have even seen, your videos are so clear & very well explained, not forgetting the patient tutor. Thanks for posting such easy to follow videos.
This is a wonderful tutorial. You have a good speaking voice and show each step plainly. I have never liked herringbone clothing, but this is beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
your video is the best love it slow & clear & quick to the point !! and most important WE can see the whole project as ya go a lot of videos I've watched are hard to follow cause the recording does not stay on the project and they are talking about other stuff instead of showing the step by step AND pausing at each one so we can see that we are still with you in the right spot !! Thank you so much I hope to see other project from YOU !!.
Thank you . I avoided this wrap only because I didn't think I was ready for it yet. This morning I woke up w/ it on my mind. You are fabulous @ these tutorials. Easy to understand and follow. Now I know I can do this. I love working with wire and am new to all of this. Keep these great videos coming. Good bless
This is the best herringbone wire wrap video I have seen. You make the instructions so clear. Might I say your tutorials are always so easy to follow. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Hello Again!!! I just HAD to come back, and after watching you demonstrate this again, and paying extra careful attention [my first endeavor was close but I missed the neatness factor! ;) Now,I can honestly report that I have reached SUCCESS!! VOILA! You can't imagine how pleased I am with this video and myself,,the links have a rich feel and heft to them making for an elegant element for design,,I still had to observe closely to tell which direction you started and which you wrapped toward.THX :)
Perfect! This was exactly what I was looking for so I can make earrings for my aunt. If I do well, I may become adventurous and try to make a matching bracelet. Your instructions are very clear and concise so thank you very much for this awesome tutorial! 👍 🙂
I love listening to your tutorials guys! Brilliant and easy to follow. Julie your voice is so soothing. Makes me feel that I can do these tutorials! Love you all ! Well done and keep it up! Keep the tutorials coming please! X
Hi! Thanks for the suggestions, I will add them to our request list. We try to get to as many as possible but can't promise when we will be able to. I am so glad you like the videos!
Ok, A newbie here, and just made 2 of these and YES, they are different lengths LOL. They don't look right, or I should say exact. More practice. Thank You, and I liked your FB page too.!
Hi! If you have a stone that does not have a hole, you can try and wire wrap along all the edges and see if you can get a secure fit, but you will not be able to wire wrap it in the same way as shown in the video and you will need to be really cautious that it is secure. Wyatt White did a video for us showing how to wire wrap a piece without a hole, this might help you: "How to Do a Wire Wrapped Stone Setting"
Making it long as you suggest might very well work, I would say to give it a try for sure. The only other thing that I can think of is if you wrapped some wire around the two end loops to create a band, but I am not sure how comfortable this would be.
Very Good! However, might I suggest instructing which direction to wrap the 1st loop direction,,lol,as when I was following along,I ended up opposite of where you did, like a left-hander might, but I sorted it out and started all over again, really pretty design,I've been trying to learn the proper technique for a couple years now,so easy, yet looks so difficult! Sure hope sterling silver wire comes back down to earth one day so I can use that instead of the cheapie kind, but for now practice THXALT!
i truly love your tutorials, they are very informative ... I have learned a lot from your channel ... was just wondering though if you have done a tutorial on the chinese wire knot? ... and was wondering if you have done a tutorial on a basic wire ring with a FLAT spiral on top to use as a ring blank for polymer clay or flat stones/beads??? if you could do one that would be very helpful, it would further not only my wire basics but also my polymer ring making skills

@LilianaBarr Yes we used jump rings to connect the wrapped beads. The bracelet is called the Herringbone Wire Wrapped Bracelet - Project B618. You can find the details on how to make the bracelet and earring set on Beadaholique's website. Just check out links in the video description underneath the video to find them.
That's really awesome!! Thanks for the tutorial! I'm going to try that tonight! I think though,... that it should be called a 'fish bone' wrap, instead of herringbone, ... because I had a herringbone necklace, and it didn't look like that!
What would be the best way to incorporate this design into a ring? I thought perhaps making it long enough to fit around the finger, then bringing the two ends together in the back and wrapping it some 24g wire. Thoughts?
Is there a way to do this without having a hole in the bead? Like if you wanted to do this to stones and crystals and making sure that the stone stays secure?
+Natalie Caballero Unfortunately this particular wrapping technique needs to be done on a bead with a hole so that you can shoot the wire through the hole and use it as the foundation for your wraps. It is possible to wire wrap crystals without holes but it is usually a more free form type wrap.
Do you think you could post a video on a beaded star ? there are only two on the tube and the fingers are in the way I can't follow it ! I tried 5 times thanks so much hope to see it on here .
If you try it with a different shaped bead, your wrappings will be odd shaped, they are going to mimic the shape of the bead. The round bead is really perfect for this technique because it creates nice smooth wraps. I would suggest trying other shapes but I think you will be happiest with rounds and ovals vs. squares and rectangles.
Excellent video, Julie. However, with the first pair I will need to start and pause this video once I start actually doing the herringbone portion. Too much to remember!
This is such a lovely design, and if you are using a "good" stone (pearl / high quality stone), I'm "assuming" you would use higher quality wire, such as SS of SP? For practice, which is the stage I'm at, I'm using as inexpensive wire as possible, and beads, just to learn. Thank you, good video, good explanation. Will try it soon .... PEACE...
Cherrie Scott Hey Cherrie! Although you would need to have both loops, you could use the bottom loop as way to secure a dangling charm or something else similar, and still use it as a necklace pendant this way.

Just so you know, if someone is new to jewelry making like I am, saying to eye ball the length of the wire is not helpful, I need to know at least an approximate length because I can't tell if you eyeballed 6 inches or 24 inches.

Thanks for the video suggestion! We will add it to our request board.
Great video. I just finished a bracelet using the herringbone wrapped beads I made.
Thanks for the tip. This will give me more options when making earrings.

love this idea!

Could this be done as easily using copper
Is there a way to do this with a crystal that has no hole? I'm making a pendant for gift, and I really like the herringbone look

I plan to make and sell jewelry is it ok to use the jewelry designs on your tutorials as long as the designer is credited for the design?
is it possible to make this with just one loop to make it a pendant?
I am not sure if you would be able to do it with just one loop since the second loop (and wire leading up to the loop) stabilizes the wire wrapping.
ok thank you anyway.
Cherrie Scott Hey Cherrie! Although you would need to have both loops, you could use the bottom loop as way to secure a dangling charm or something else similar, and still use it as a necklace pendant this way.
Please tell me that this takes practice to make them look as good as yours!

Thank you!!! Precious

Could you add more than one bead with the same technique?
tbkk100 Yes, just make sure you cut enough wire if you are adding more beads.
I am not sure how you would just do this with one loop, you really need that anchor on both sides for this technique.
Beautiful! I may have missed it, but what size bead did you use?
The bead used in this video is SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS Crystal Faux Round Pearls #5810 8mm Mystic Black: www.beadaholique.com/p-3956-swarovski-elements-crystal-faux-round-pearls-5810-8mm-mystic-black-25.aspx?TH-cam&
