If Judith is now open for a interview now that she made a reunion…I like to hear her perspective about providing the vocals and more involvement in the group as a face.
It's debatable whether or not she provided vocals for any of the singles. Back then producers were incessantly churning out new singles hoping for the next big dance hit. They worked with a pool of studio singers that sounded good and knew the process (we've seen this with VARIOUS projects, Corona and Whigfield are two of the best known examples). Given what the original video to Better Off Alone consisted of, I think that this record was another case of throwing spaghetti at the wall and then the back story being created AFTER it stuck, not before. Even now that they're back to doing 90s shows with the original Alice Deejay lineup, the vocals have been rerecorded (and used over and over) to provide the illusion of live singing, but was she actually ever the singer in the studio? I have doubts, but until the actual singer pipes up (though is probably sworn to secrecy by an NDA), we will never know for sure.
@@DirtyZ Apparently the reason there are 2 music videos for Better Off Alone is that Judy missed her flight to where they were filming, so they had to have a model stand-in. However, Judy is now performing with a hand-held microphone, as opposed to a head-set microphone. This has me confused... is she singing live now? Another example of faces/models lip-syncing to a different person's vocals is Ian van Dahl's "Castles in the Sky". Cindy Mertens lip-synced in videos/performances to vocals by Marsha (Martine Theeuwen). Both Cindy and Marsha then got dropped and Annemie Coenen was brought in to lip-sync to Marsha's vocals, before they then recorded Annemie's vocals for a revised version of CitS.
She recently did a podcast that she talked about Alice DJ and what else she is doing. It's about an hour long divided up into 4 pieces I think. The first one she talks about Alice DJ.

Still being debated to this day and beyond. And now that Judy has given her last performance of this reunion tour, that's it. No more Alice Deejay. I doubt she will come back again in more years time...
Correct, Pronti & Kalmani (Sebastiaan Molijn and Eelke Kalberg) are the producers indeed. Later they formed Dash Berlin and they did the productions, while Jeffrey Sutorius (the DJ), was the face of the group.
For this interview there wasn’t really much I could ask Jurgen about her to be honest. I did ask Judith as well for an interview as well, but unfortunately she said “no” 😕
@@muzikxpress I saw Alice Deejay in concert like 20 years ago, in a small club, Pittsburgh, PA, USA, and it was unbelievable. The ENERGY Judith and her dancers put out was unreal. The entire set was like a medley, for 40-50 minutes or whatever, non-stop. She was unworldly BEAUTIFUL, and really sweet. She laughed and squeezed my arm, when I was stunned, at a loss for words when I went over to her to say "hello," and thank her for Alice Deejay. I can still hear her laugh.
When he had a show here last year I did request an interview with him, but nobody replied to any of my emails... I’m not sure if he speaks English btw...

Sebastiaan Molijn and Eelke Kalberg a.k.a. Pronti & Kalmani did co-produce "Better Off Alone", plus they are responsible for the Dash Berlin productions as well.
Did I hear him say he didn't actually created this song by himself? He heard it from two guys in their studio above the club where he was playing, right? And he joined them because he could get this song to Wessel van Diepen, who could publish it. So, who were these 2 guys and shouldn't they get some credit for it?
@@CademanLillywhite no worries! I hope you enjoyed that one and noticed it’s all a bit better these days haha 😉 I’m doing this as a hobby, so I’m not a pro 🙂
Pronti & Kalmani wrote and produced it. I believe Jurgen may have helped with production, but also put them in touch with Danski & Delmundo (Vengaboys) and helped promote the track with his name as "DJ Jurgen *_presents_* Alice Deejay" rather than "DJ Jurgen *_featuring_* Alice Deejay". Jurgen seems to be the only one willing to do interviews and discuss the song. Pronti, Kalmani, Danski, Delmundo, and Judy are not so willing.
@muzikxpress Which instrumental version are you playing in the background of the video and what's the exact length of it ? I am only aware of 2 good instrumental versions, here's the length of the ones I know, 6 :39 and 5 :38, and is there any other official sounding instrumental versions ?, thanks.

Good question, I have no idea tbh!
muzikxpress Thanx
Innes Mac Never say never 😉
Innes Mac already spoke to 2 people involved and both said “no” unfortunately 😟
Innes Mac correct, but they both weren’t interested so they said “no” unfortunately...
I was hoping he'd say who's voice they used over the instrumental track of Better Off Alone 😔
I say they used Kim's from the Vengaboys
Still being debated to this day and beyond. And now that Judy has given her last performance of this reunion tour, that's it. No more Alice Deejay. I doubt she will come back again in more years time...
What doesn't get mentioned was the guys he made the track with were two of Dash Berlin before they were apart of Dash Berlin.
Correct, Pronti & Kalmani (Sebastiaan Molijn and Eelke Kalberg) are the producers indeed. Later they formed Dash Berlin and they did the productions, while Jeffrey Sutorius (the DJ), was the face of the group.
Pronti & Kalmani also formed Candee Jay.
Wish there was more talk of Judith!
Can you interview the master of italian dj? I’m speaking of Gigi D’Agostino
When he had a show here last year I did request an interview with him, but nobody replied to any of my emails... I’m not sure if he speaks English btw...
Pronti & Kalmani
Edit: das een goeie radio-stem
Good
Good channel!
Thank you!
He gave me a sigarette when I met with him at this small local club where I was a resident dj back in the day one night when he was headlining. I didnt even smoke, but I kindly accepted and shook the mans hand lol Kinda funny story.. :)
Bakko 😂😂😂
5:13 what was the other track? 6:50 Doing your own thing means ...you are better off alone LOL
Is this guy also behind the Dash Berlin project???
No, that's not Jurgen, but Sebastiaan Molijn and Eelke Kalberg a.k.a. Pronti & Kalmani.
@@muzikxpress thanks ✌. You take amazing interviews..so much source of information.
You are welcome, glad to hear you enjoy them! New interview will be online this Sunday!
System F / Gouryella / 🙏💞💞💞
@@muzikxpress it is so insane to know pronti and kalmani is actually dash berlin xd
Why didn't they speak about Judith Pronk, the singer???
She wasn’t involved with the writing / composing of the track, so not really part of “the story behind the track”, that’s why 😉
@@muzikxpress For millions she was Alice Deejay, for me She was Alice Deejay, i didn't even know that it was a project until one year ago. Godd to know.
However i feel that that the Girl on the cover doesn't count nor our opinions as fans. THANKS.
What's the connection with Dash Berlin?
Sebastiaan Molijn and Eelke Kalberg a.k.a. Pronti & Kalmani did co-produce "Better Off Alone", plus they are responsible for the Dash Berlin productions as well.
@@muzikxpress Which one of them came up with the lyrics "better off alone" after a breakup with his partner?
I am amazed DJ Jürgen didn't get a credit on Alive Deejay version!
If you check the Alice Deejay releases on Discogs you do see DJ Jurgen is in the credits as well ;-)
@@muzikxpress That's true. I guess I only ever knew it as by Alice Deejay, don't remember Jürgen getting much of a mention
@@philrichardson99 his name is still in the credits and the first versions were released as “DJ Jurgen presents Alice Deejay” as artist.
What equipment did he use to produce this song?
Logic Pro

@@libertymarketing410 🙌🏻🥳
Did I hear him say he didn't actually created this song by himself? He heard it from two guys in their studio above the club where he was playing, right? And he joined them because he could get this song to Wessel van Diepen, who could publish it. So, who were these 2 guys and shouldn't they get some credit for it?
If you check the credits on the CD Maxi and the vinyl of "Better Off Alone" you see that everybody who wrote / produced on the track got credited.
How I interpreted it, is that those 2 guys made "something else". And later they made several tracks "together", including Better Off Alone.
Was at a party with him in 99. Such a kind man.
ah nice! And yes Jurgen is great!
The background is too loud mate, might wanna lower it the next time. Can be distracting.
Thanks for the feedback, this was one of my first vlogs from a couple of years ago. I’m sure it’s a lot better now in my current videos 😉
@@muzikxpress Didn't notice the date mate. I watched the Ralph Barendse one and that was cool :)
@@CademanLillywhite no worries! I hope you enjoyed that one and noticed it’s all a bit better these days haha 😉 I’m doing this as a hobby, so I’m not a pro 🙂
@@muzikxpress You are doing a great job mate
@@CademanLillywhite thanks so much!!!
Did he say he got the song from 2 other guys?
I’m so confused did he produce it or the guys he met at the club?
Pronti & Kalmani wrote and produced it. I believe Jurgen may have helped with production, but also put them in touch with Danski & Delmundo (Vengaboys) and helped promote the track with his name as "DJ Jurgen *_presents_* Alice Deejay" rather than "DJ Jurgen *_featuring_* Alice Deejay". Jurgen seems to be the only one willing to do interviews and discuss the song. Pronti, Kalmani, Danski, Delmundo, and Judy are not so willing.
Thank you
@muzikxpress Which instrumental version are you playing in the background of the video and what's the exact length of it ?
I am only aware of 2 good instrumental versions, here's the length of the ones I know, 6 :39 and 5 :38, and is there any other official sounding instrumental versions ?, thanks.
I made my own edit of the instrumental version that you can find on the German CD Maxi single ;-)
