I guess it's not so much about the story but about the man who tells it. Stick has shown to be extremely unreliable, lying and manipulating Matt on many occasions - so he just can never be sure if he's telling the truth at all.
There's one thing on the Netflix Daredevil series Stick I do not understand. When Stick tells Matt the story of Casto in the second season of Daredevil, he implies that he is Asian, not to mention that Stick speaks Japanese fluently, but the Stick has Western appearance and the other members of Casto also have Western appearance, after all in What country was he born in?
Ok, so now that Defenders is over, here's my question: where does this fit into with the origin story that Stick talked about with the five Immortals from K'un Lun who formed the original Hand? Was Yaminote following their orders?

It implied Izo's participation in the Stick's youth, it would be interesting if Izo appeared but as he is older than the Stick he probably passed away.

The five fingers of the Hand had already left K'un - L'un when the Stick village was attacked.
So, this...."real treasure" they discovered is one of the 5 fingers of the Hand who rebelled against K'un L'un? Bit of retconning there...
