I am using the same plugin, and I like it a lot too. Just wanted to note that while it really works well for the mid/side -setting (around 6:00 onwards on this video), the same lack of the strings will appear when played back in mono. Even though it sounds like the strings are mostly still there in stereo, listen to the mono-version and you will barely hear the strings at all. So you still need to be very careful with that, I believe it is a good habit to check that your mixes are mono compatible.
I was going to post the same comment. It really gave the full track a more "professional" sound and feel. This could have been done with volume automation, but what if the vocal is re-recorded? And you can get crazy: imagine using trackspacer to remove some information from a channel that you then use as the sidechain input on a volume shaper (compressor or expander). So, you only duck (or expand) when the trackspacer's sidechain isn't ducking the middle channel's content (it's a combination of the two channel's information).

Hey, nice tutorial, thanks for that but i tried the trackspacer today myself and i find the inbuilt eq doesn't sound that good or is it just me? Bass starts scraping while ducking? Any experiences with it? The usally way for me was to add envelope follower to a channel and linked to an eq like fab filter's pro q 3 and cut/duck frequencies that way. Not as easy as trackspacer but sounds more natural to my ears. What do you think?
I suspect you could do something very similar without it if you have a decent EQ plugin, by applying it to what you want to be cut and sidechaining what you want to be "dominant" and applying a match EQ based on the "dominant" track negatively and dynamically. It'll be static, but I can't imagine the difference will be that dramatic.
Yeah, I can also walk to work in 2 hours, or drive in 20 minutes. This is the purpose of a plugin, automation and time saving leaving more time for creativity....
@@benking8610 you only need make a copy of your track, then set a bus as output, now you have a non audible signal with the same information than your other track, then put the trakcspacer in your main track, and select the copy track as sidechain source (the bus), now you only need select the specific frequencies you want to attenuate in the trackspacer, because the same track is attenuating itself thought the side chain

Doesn't seem to work for me. I've sidechained everything correctly and yet, the tool ducks my synth at all times, not just when the vocals kick in.

If you side chain the same track itself you can make a cheap soothe2 ;)

Kickstart and Duck are far easier and a lot more effective for Sidechaining.
