- So a few weeks ago I let you have a sneak peek of a performance taken of something top secret I'm working on.
... it was with Josh Smith on guitar, Gary Novak on drums... and me on bass.
Well... the comments you guys left were totally overwhelming. Honestly, you guys blew my mind with how into it you were.
But, there was more than a fair share of you that emailed in asking whether there were anymore performances on the way... and honestly, I wasn't planning on sharing anymore until that top secret thing was ready for release, but... this new tune I recorded with them is sooooo damn funky, I couldn't help myself, lol...
So... here's another new performance from me, Josh and Gary... and as you'd expect, the guys are killin it!
Ooo... and there's a bass solo in this one for ya too ;)

The grooviest of groove, the bluesiest of blues, the jazziest of jazz, the funkiest of funk. That was tremendous. All hail the king of the skins: Gary Novak.
Always nice to listening to people that can play. Love that bass sound. Lemonsong vibes.
Lemon song is some of the best electric blues bass ever recorded, heavily slept on.
Sometimes we forget how such an amazing bassist you are Scott. Awesome groove there and such a beefy tone on this P Bass.
Seeing Scott playing in a gig is a whole other level of bass lesson
a great example that the bluesy stuff doesn't have to be played in the usual boring jam session manner. Love your band stuff - you always have top notch players & songs.

Hi Scott,great line up,great tune. Heard of Josh a while ago and have met Gary Novak at a Jazz festival in Germany. He's the most humble and gentle person you could ever met. Always thought Gary was the forgotten hero of electrified jazz, love his playing. Keep up the good work!
So much videos out there featuring excellent musicians playing awful meaningless technical modern music. What a difference is to play some soulful bluesy tones, because then the instruments shine.

Josh is one of my favorite guitar players. Amazing. You guys all sound killer! Let me also add this, any time I think I can actually play the bass I hear guys like Scott Devine and I quickly realize that I can't.
Credit where it's due - this is the same arrangement Josh plays with Travis Carlton, and a number of the bass licks are lifted from Travis. Check-out the 'Live at the Spud' album.

Great P-bass tone and bass solo Scott. My ears are tweaked a tad--either the bass is tuned too sharp, or the guitar is tuned too flat. Check that both of y'all's tuners are calibrated to A440.
James Jamerson never owned a tuner and nor did the greatest legends of all time bother with precision calibration. More vibe!
