I worked 10years in financial industry and made a mid career switch to nursing. Currently a nursing student in my final year, most of my classmates are teens, old enough to be my kids. Never too old to study, life is short and just do what you want to do in life. Don’t regret a moment.
I am turning 55 this year and I have completed 7 years of studying/researching for my PhD in AI on a part-time basis while working full-time in AU. It is NOT easy to pick up the books at this age, let alone researching for a doctorate!
He's amazing. Really can tell that he's passionate about learning and I agree with him. Regardless of your age, do not be afraid to take a different step and refresh your mindset if you feel like you're in a rut. All the best to his studies and future! I hope we can hear more updates from him (be it verbal or video wise, if he allows of course) in this journey. 💜👏
i also went back to polytechnic studies at a later stage as compared to my peers (not as late as dennis chew). and i have never ever regretted it. one of the most fulfilling 3 years of my life.

If i were to go to poly i would have been 26 on my first year and 28 on my final 3rd year
@@jianxiongRaven just do it, think about it long term, you do it now or wait till your company endorses you? and after you do it you can further pursue your degree

Wah dennis really v. inspiring, interesting and seems humble to learn. Fellow cubicle dwellers will understand: What he said about "life is short (and boring). U have to purposely make it interesting for urself." I would feel awkward if he was my coursemate. Cos i would wanna impress him more than the teacher. He has the power to give you good media job after graduation if he "clicks" with you.

在外国 我在大学看到许多50 多60 多拿degree 跟我们同学考calculus。
只是在亚洲人 觉得很羞耻 这样大年龄去大学读书。 我本人不觉得学习有年龄界限
其实年纪大了，事业稳定了，去学校读书根本就不会有压力，反而非常轻松自在，有自信。如果是事业不顺，要重新去上学，才会觉得辛苦吧。上课读书哪里会难??
@@phchua8451 其实读书跟工作是没有关联的。 我很多朋友读书很差 但是在事业上他们很成功。 同时间我也看过读书超级厉害 还拿奖学金 但是事业只是平平淡淡。
还有不要以为读书是很简单的事。 在我大学有些人因为读书的压力拿不到奖学金去自杀。读书也有它自己的难处 工作也有它自己的难处
所以我不同意 你说的 读书有几难。。
尤其越南人因为读书 不睡觉天天待在图书馆读书 也有些一直努力读书 但是也考不到 固定的分数。
我也明白为何你有这样想法 因为很多父母尤其 不是拥有很高学历
他们每次都跟孩子说 你们读书上课有几难 反而 工作才难。
但是我可以跟你说 读书没有你想象这样的简单。 如果这样简单的话， 那些人不会花5-6 年去考医学位 还有 4 年去考法律学位！也有人花了8 年时间读博士！连我考得 petroleum engineering 都要4 年半
@@phchua8451 读书不厉害的人。。或者说考试不厉害的人会觉得很难，尤其是对考47，48分的人只差几分就及格的人😭😭😭，然后还要重修重考还不知道会不会及格还是肥佬简直是精神折磨。
读书是识字知道理…训练自己的思维也是为了与这每天不断有新知识与新科技的世界打交道…并不是读书等于赚钱…
以前的家长没有受到太好的教育，教养孩子完全只能用自己在社会上学习的方式去教育孩子，读大学就能赚大钱也只不过是哄孩子读书的方法而已，就像小时候父母说如果你顽皮就叫警察来抓你的方式一样…
读书好不能于赚钱能力好，但现在这个科技时代，老板不读点书，如何看懂合约书？去政府部门办事听不懂看不懂如何是好？请翻译官吗？他能帮到多少呢？有些私人的产业问题还是得自己亲力亲为的……
就连出门在外，不识字谈何容易…所以吃过不识字的亏的父母才会一直鼓励孩子好好读书……
大老板不读书也能当老板是有的，但企业能做多大呢？没有一点点学历，去跟其他大企业老板打高尔夫时就能知道“聊天差距”在哪里了…
读书不是万能，但读书能训练脑袋思考，有没有名牌大学文凭不重要，重要的是要培养“阅读”的能力，来学习与时并进，李嘉诚到现在每天都还有阅读的习惯，马斯克每天都要学习新知识，所以不要再说不读书也能当老板，也不要说读书一定赚大钱

@@lyekahkit9366 Definitely many can and qualified to. How can Dennis be better? Dennis doesn't even reply me who was a fan a hello or give a general reply to a crowd. We met in the studio filming when I was 14 and he was a teenager. He got no real heart, he can teach? We can be fellow pupils in school now, he can't be teaching better than the teachers.

What he brings is real life experience, how to deal with ppl, how to give directions, how to progress in this industry, for those students there that take such a specific course, they should be smart to get into his good books.
@@daryls4070 I was also in studio to work. We got our shoots. I 14, he a bit older. Who really is his fan? The hello was outside 2 or 3 years ago. I thought he not like that. I wrong. His experience, our newbies and youngsters with talent, can easily cover, gain and replace. A lot of teachers also lousy, you are right too. My clever and rich PhD friend in nyp teaching media one is lousy, total no heart for pupils, he can't understand poorer background pupils.

Just a suggestion , i highly don't recommend using HDD , the gift he received, Just stick to a heavy duty (high write) thumb drive OR a portable SSD / NVME flash disk. The lifespan for flash drive are based on writes, meaning how much you write on it it can last 5-10+ years, i have one from 10 years ago used daily but it was built using MLC meaning it could last really long, nowadays mostly are QLC tech.
Just avoid HDD please, slow, easy to spoil , not worth your time and effort from are the potential issues.
can’t help but think of how there are many students that might potentially exploit him in school. like for example, teaming up with him(bc he’s experienced and would prolly do a good job, good for bell curve), then slacking off and letting him tank the project by himself. nowadays a lot of reptiles🐍🐍
