Dr . Campbell , I first found your videos while looking at blood groups ( mine is AB . RH +) but also watch updates on Covid19 every day , but I have been very ill for mainly the last 6 months , but brain MRI shows unusual white matter changes , along with Lesions ... I am aware of my brain function decreasing , including very bad memory , but due to Covid19 all further tests and Neurology appointments have been cancelled , I've found this video very interesting along with all your posts , I have suffered many head injuries through accidents and have deep scares on my head , so this post was in particular , was very interesting and informative ..keep up the good work , and your honesty is much appreciated..

I fell 7ft and hit a concrete floor at a young age and was knocked into coma for 3days. Not being taken to the doctor I have no idea what happened. I am 64 but have struggled with learning my whole life:(
you speak of Increased intracranial pressure and the herniation of the cerebellum through the foreman magnum I wondered if you realize it does not Always Kill ... I have a condition called Chiari Malformation (Chiari malformation is when the lowest part of the cerebellum herniated downward through the foreman magnum into the spinal canal) . Additionally I have Increased intracranial hypertension . Previously called Pseudotumor cerebri. I have had brain surgeries to open the space in the back of my skull so that my brain is not compressed as severely as it was prior to surgery and now also have a shunt to drain excess spinal fluid that would have otherwise accumulated in my brain and was causing severe pressure on my optical nerve essentially it would possibly have blinded me. ...Or over time untreated may have even killed me. I just wondered if you were aware because the lack of education regarding increased intracranial pressure and chiari malformation created many years of misdiagnosis for me and without PURE LUCK in finding a Dr who actually had a family member with these conditions I don't know if I would have survived . If you take a look at my profile photo that incision is from one of my brain surgeries to remove the back of my skull and open up the space in the back of my head to make room for my ever herniating brain.
Amy Montgomery Well the thing is that the Chiari Malformation develops gradually and offers time for the brain to adapt till a certain point. The difference with acute ICP is that it happens too fast, and downward herniation through the foramen magnum will cause and acute compression over the medullary trunk, more importantly the nucleus responsible for you vital stats.
