Weird but fabulous seeing Germans playing a British marching tune. Then again, I've seen British soldiers playing Preußens Gloria too.
Yes, one would think so. Your comments made me investigate....Here is waht I came across: The March was popularized by the House of Hanover and was brought to Britain by Dutch and German influences...*The melody was introduced into Britain as a military march during the 1689-1702 reign of William III and has similarities with one written for Prince John William of Friesland (1687-1711). Henry Grattan Flood suggested as another candidate the 1672 Dutch march "Wilhelmus van Nassouwe", which in turn was a reworking of a French version from 1568.*
As an American, seeing Germans playing a British march means only one thing-HESSIANS!
Imagine this and Prussian Glory being played on the same battlefield. The enemy wouldn't be getting off easily. Ask France.
Imagine the Union Jack and Prussia#s black-white flag being hoist at the one side, then the French flying their white flag on the other... XD
Prussian Glory + March of the Grenadiers = World domination. Too much power even as I Brit I wouldn’t want that, not fair on the rest
I can say from personal experience that yes you would have a bad day.
Fabulous rendition of the British Grenadiers. Much respect from Britain.
I'm obsessed with this music.
imagine this is what their ancestors heard when they marched on Napoleon with the British
Wellington kaput without the Prussians under Blücher. Wellington himself said that day, "I wish it were night or the Prussians came" to his rescue.
That is very true. Napoleon was very close to routing the British at Waterloo when Blucher's Prussians arrived.
Plus Wellington's own army had more Germans in it (26,000) than British (25,000).
They would have heard far more than just the British Grenadiers and up until the peace treaty all the American Colonists were still British until the new American Nationality was established.
Beautiful! Huge respect to these guys for playing such an incredible version of the British Grenadiers! And with that German touch of discipline and military tradition, it just makes the whole thing *even better*
And, the bandmaster -- and all of the players -- all stepped off on their left foot! Bravo, bravo, meine Kameraden!!
One of my favourite renditions of the British Grenadiers. Good job! Love from the seat of the British Empire
While listening this my coffee and cookies became into tea and biscuits
Some talk of Alexander and some of Hercules
Of Hector and Lysander and such great names as these
But of all the worlds brave heroes there's none who can compare
With a tow row row row row row to the British grenadiers
Those heroes of antiquity never saw a cannon ball
Or knew the force of powder to slay there foes withal
But our brave boys do know it and banish all there fears
With a tow row row row row row to the British grenadiers
When'ere we are commanded to storm the palisades
Our leaders march with fuses and we with hand grenades
We throw them from the glacis about the enemies ears
With a tow row row row row row to the British grenadiers
And when the seige is over we to the town repair
The townsmen cry "Hurrah boys, here come the grenadiers!"
"Here come the grenadiers my lads who know no doubts or fears"
Then sing tow row row row row to the British grenadiers
Then let us fill a bumper and drink the health of those
Who carry caps and pouches and wear thy loúped clothes
May they and their commanders live happy all their years
With a tow row row row row row to the British grenadiers!
You know when its time to run when you here this playing in the coast of your country GLORY FOR THE EMPIRE
Most phenomenal, how cute.
I had no idea this was played by German musicians, but when the bells came about I had a feeling some German element was involved. What an awesome production.
I absolutely loved it.
Greetings from the US.
i love this song I watch this song every day I love this
What a wonderful presentation! Congratulations.
I love how at first it's just a couple of guys but then more keep joining until it's overwhelming

Imagine this playing as hordes of charging Zulus are cut down in their tracks at Rourkes Drift.
Well strangely no music other than bugle calls were played at Rorkes Drift.
The Zulu warriors were excellent fighters who had taken over much territory. Bad generalship by Chelmsford led to the massacre of the 24th South Warwickshire regiment of foot, minus one company at rourkes drift.
Salute to Germania
BRAVO!!! Huzzah! Huzzah!! Huzzah!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hit a like if this gave you goosebumps
Would have been nice if this group wore period uniforms either Prussian from the years of 1736 thru 1810 or British uniforms of that same period. What most people do not realize is that The Prussians and the English has a common bond in their rulers. The English Parliament had enough of the Stuarts and so sought to get a new ruling family into the throne and so they went to the House of Hanover and thus was born the thrones of George 1st, George 2nd and George 3rd. Even Adolf Hitler was an Anglophile and didn't want a war with Great Britain.
They are still looking for someone who sponsors their historical Prussian and English uniforms. Maybe you can contact them...
Yes very true .The Kaiser was related to Queen Victoria. Germany was on good terms with England , and For all his later faults Hitler admired the English.
that would be nice but we already struggle getting our normal uniforms together. it`s very expensive to buy uniforms for 35-50 people.
A good effort.
Really great performance. Proud to be British and German. Love Europe, hate the EU.

This looks like it's a scene from a video game
Sad that the only Germans who still use visors are navy and civilian bands.
Watching it at 0.75 speed gives it a better sound and proper speed.
@@Marco-bf4uu my musical knowledge is shite and also i made this comment 2 years ago so you’re probably right
Germanic bois together strong
Free America in German form and same tune to British grenadiers love it either way
Sadly my Pennsylvania Dutch ancestors were probably Hessian deserters since that Franz Family still lives in Americay yet still owns an original Hessian token now owned by my Uncle. That is if they weren't already yanks.
Nobody knew of those lyrics until like 4 years ago
its an obscure or possible even modern creation
Where is the KGL? also the Prussians from waterloo?
why do they look like WWII German officers from a-far
Say no more Germany, Nige, fire up the Lancasters!
British grenadiers in German uniforms, with German soldiers playing the march? haha!
Well, to be fair, if they were playing German or Prussian military marches, I'd be worried they'd be off to seize Poland and the Sudetenland so
Fantastic...Like this, they will try to take over india, canada, basically everything not continental europe..again

I can't see any soldiers in that video? But there are British soldiers playing German marches like Coburger - why not? Both countries are allied and have beautiful marches
Nevertheless the Panzerlied should belong to the dumping ground of history or at least it shouldn't be celebrated as they do in your video

In other word, I want to know what group use the uniform.
Speaking German! I very much doubt it. We had millions of indians and Africans to conscript if we wanted to but we kept it voluntary in the colonies. You forget that most British are Anglo Saxons and English is a West Saxon Language. The Guals kept the Roman Legions on their toes and even prevented them from occupying what they called Hibernia. The Brigantes tribe of Northern England also caused the Legions far more trouble than even the people of Judea or the Germanic tribes. The RAF defeated the Deutsch Luftwaffe and the Griegsmarine was too small. The Royal Navy fr too big and no land invasion would have been possible without a large Navy and competent Air Force. Many very brave men on all sides, but the result would have been the same though without America and USSR it would have taken until 1950 and beyond to win. The Italians and Germans in Africa had many nations troops facing them, British, Nepalese, Indian, Australian, New Zealander, South African, Palestinian(Jews), Polish, French, Belgian, and other assorted nations. A good mostly clean fight without the Axis forces murdering innocent civilians and competent generals on both sides. After the war, the allies did not strutt around bullying and murdering the German population. They set about de natzification and restoring democracy. The tommies and jocks were not vindictive and nor was GI Joe. The Germany economy was allowed to grow and prosper and rather than be the masters they let you self govern and assisted in preventing the madness and cruelty of communism from taking over Europe. The Tommies and Jocks have gone home now and their politicians are in the process of dismantling their armed forces( Must be taking back handers from Czar Vlad the 1st of all the Ruskies) Totalitarinism disguised as democracy, reins in Russia today and poses a threat to real freedom such has we are allowed to experence it in the west. The tommies never lost when fighting with other allies against German states along side other German states, prior to Germany becoming a nation in 1870. Britain was a nation for 1200 years before then.
I was watching a TV prog last week of war diary's written by ordinary German women .It struck me strange when on seeing British troops occupying her village , one wrote ....We were so glad to see the English soldiers occupying our village.
Hard to imagine anyone being glad to see the victors , but I am guessing she was meaning she was glad it was not Russian troops.
Look out Boney, "Old Hooky" and "Marschall Vorwarts" are coming for you!
Germany porice ?
I like to imagine they are summoning the other band members.
BREXIT?!?! YES WE CAN
Where was this filmed? It looks like a courtyard to a castle or palace. Possibly a fort or neighborhood?

For a civilian band, that would put our Guards band to shame. Well done.
In May 1945 the tommies came not as conquerors but as liberators from a extremely evil and corrupt regime of dangerous psychopaths and to restore democracy to Germany.
You're forgetting about Poland, France and Belgium. Could not resist pointing that out. Hee hee hee!!
My Dad lived to 99 .He died 3 years ago .He was awarded the Legion d Honneur medal because he was there on D day 6th June 44 .

Desert Rat you can join the Spielmannszug if you live in Germany a lot of villages have their own rifle club (in German schützen) but they are no soldiers it’s like a volunteer thing and every year there is a rifle club Festival when it is they shoot and the rifleman who shoots the best score is the new champion marksman and you can even join when you are 12 years or so

do they know that fitted military jackets are supposed to have belts?
Crazy Taco probably cadets or something, even then, unfortunately Germany isn't as militarily proud as it used to be.
they are not military....its just what most marching bands wear round here (and all ive ever seen had no belts as well). Usually the same or similar Uniform as the local traditional "schützenverein"....think less of a military uniform and more of "formal" hunter/woodsman clothing really
No, musicians are unarmed so why should they wear belts? those are civlians, they follow their tradition.
British Grenadier: Never thought I’d die alongside a Jerry.
