Hello. I am finally to the point in my life where im done hating my nose. Functionally and aesthetically. My question to you is can you please direct me to a good surgeon/surgeons in the Milwaukee WI area?? I thank you so much for any direction you can point me in. This has been a step that has stopped me many times before even being able to look any further into rhinoplasty. I truly believe this could change ALL aspects of my life!! Thank you so much!!!
Plzz reply I got hit in the face when I was 10-11 years old after I was bleeding and my nose us a but crooked and I got a hump now. Will my health insurance pay for the job.
My ENT gave me a bunch of meds, nasal spray, and I am now doing a sleep study. I can't breathe at night. My septum is very deviated and it's not pretty and it not functional. Since I'm on Medicaid do you think that is the reason my ENT is trying all of these things and not the septoplasmy? I also am always thirsty, always have a headache, at night I get ear aches and my legs and feet feel swollen. It's odd I know maybe not related. But, do you believe a septoplasmy would be benigicial for me? How can I get one because I am miserable!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Kasey. Its impossible to tell without looking inside your nose. The fact is most if not almost everyone has a deviated septum. A straight septum is as rare as a white unicorn! But when its significantly deviated it needs repair. There are other areas of obstruction as well. Large turbinates can cause obstruction. Internal or External valve collapse can cause obstruction. Mucosal edema due to allergies can cause obstruction. Large adenoids can cause obstruction. And ultimately patient expectations can also be an issue. Some people get very focused on their breathing to the point they are very aware of the sensations and the differences from side to side and those people are almost always in distress and never satisfied with their air flow. But the first thing is for a good capable and honest surgeon to look inside your nose and examine you. Too often surgeons want to operate and that is not always the answer - but it may be in your case.
I have a very severely deviated septum. And I wake up in the middle of the night thirsty and will a lot of drainage. The scariest part is I stop breathing in my sleep. Every morning I have horrible headaches and sometimes my nose actually hurts. I can feel the pressure. My septum goes very far to the right it's like (\) . That's the angle. It not only causes all of these problems it's also hard to look someone in the eye and I can't stand pictures of myself. I don't have the money for plastic surgery but, maybe if Gods willing I can at least get the septoplasmy. Please pray for me! Thank you for your response. It was very helpful and informative:)
Sounds like a case more involved than an average ENT can handle. If your nose is deviated on the outside, a "simple" septoplasty will not work most of the time and your best shot is the 1st surgery, not a revision. Find a Facial Plastic Surgeon who can deal with the Septum and the nose as a whole and correct both. I know it is not cheap or financially feasible for most but doing just a septoplasty may not work and will make a more comprehensive subsequent surgery more difficult and limited. See several good but also honest surgeons.
I am not sure what credentials to look for in a facial plastic surgery. And I will probably have to wait until my tax return to even be able to pay for maybe half of it. Do you have any recommendations? I live in the state of Indiana and I don't know what kind of surgeon to look for.
