One more thing to add. Just as with almost every bait, do not mix it up all with groundbait at the start of the session. The groundbait could easily kill the jokers. The problem is not even the dead joker, but if you keep it long enough in the groundbait, the joker will dry out and they will float instead of laying on the bottom. Check your groundbait and if it contains salt, be very careful, jokers do not like salty groundbait, it will kill and dry them quicker. Without a doubt this was the best video about the joker I have ever seen.
Could watch and listen to Matt Godfery all day long. Lovely video very informative. Never fished with Bloodworm and Joker before but after watching this i think i am going to have to give it a go - Dave
Thank you Matt on brilliant and informative video. As a young 61 year old who hasn't fished with B & J in over 25 years as it went out of fashion with the advent of moving away from rivers and canals to commercial still waters and then became hard to get as no one was scraping commercial, certainly in my area. I had often thought of getting a match pack and giving it a go again but the older we get the more we over think things and end up not doing it. Thank you on reminding me how simple it really is. could you point me in the right direction to a good supplier. Soft southener from the Lea/Lee Valley Isaac Walton's old stomping ground
Hi Steven, thank you for your feedback. The best thing to do is to order this online, it's delivered ro your home safely and securely. We advise you to contact Farnworth Tackle & Bait; www.taffysbloodwormandjoker.co.uk for more details. Thanks Steven.
I've never used bloodworm and joker so this was a real eye opener for me. Absolutely brilliant video, easy to understand and explained in such a simple way. Thanks Matt
Very informative video bloodworm an joker are two baits I’ve always thought of trying on my local canal an now feel comfortable with trying this following watching this well thought out and brilliant video.
Thanks for the Informations Matt. I personally have fished already with alive Bloodworm and Joker but that its same as it is with Maggots and Pinkies also the dead Bloodworm and Joker catch bigger fish that I didnt know yet. So thanks very much, I just learned one thing more.
I've followed this to the letter mat I've kept my bloodworm for a month what anglers don't realise you might only use 20 bloodworm in a match and you get at least 150 so it's, worth keeping pal 👍 thank you 👍
Thanks Matt, this is by far the most informative blood worm video I've seen, 36 years of fishing I've avoided bloodworm Purley because I didn't know how to use it or keep it, going forward I will definitely give it a go 👍
I love Bloodworm and Joker fishing it was always something I wanted to fish with as a youngster, I grew up watching my Angling heroes using it on home internationals etc. It seems less popular nowadays and hard to find venues that allow it.
Hi. Matt..brilliant insight into bloodworm and joker fishing..I've used it for many years but I'm sure it will help newbies to give it a try..well done..keep em coming mate..
Great stuff and very informative Matt. Just a shame I’ll never get to put it into practice as bloodworm and joker and the use of are none existent down here in Dorset. Used to use it a lot years ago but that was when team fishing and travelling the country in the 90’s but have not used it since.
Hi Wayne. Bloodworm and joker is available to order online. You can get it sent direct to your house. Follow this link for more info, www.taffysbloodwormandjoker.co.uk
@@TackleguruTV Thanks might give it a go at some point although, although it says to order online I can’t seem to be able to do so. Click on the bloodworm logo as it suggests but nothing happens 🤷♂️ Can you order online or is it phone orders only usually?
Brilliant video best blood worm specific one I’ve watched I’m literally going to try blood worm for the first time on the Gloucester canal shortly so this vid couldn’t of come at a better time 👍🏿can you recommend any good suppliers Thanks
A nice insight into the little red men, I wish you had shown the gb and leam mix, a lot of people struggle making the mix correctly, also I notice The Natural pattern float is this something we will be able to get hold of soon? I love fishing with this natural bait only problem is a reliable source, you mention freezing left over joker but how do you stop it drying out and floating which seems to be hit and miss, do you ever freeze worm and add to a gb mix?
What a brilliant video and hosted by one of, if not the best angler on the scene.. I have been wanting to try bloodworm and joker for a while and watching this has gave me the knowledge to hopefully fish it with confidence but are these baits primarily used when fishing the pole or could it be used when feeder fishing???
@@TackleguruTV awesome stuff.. I've actually already ordered some from my local tackle shop and really looking forward to fishing with them.. I'm feeling rather optimistic about it
Brilliant and very informative Matt - cheers. I've also been taught to hook bloodworm through the head segment...but when I've fished in France, I've been told by Jean Desque to not hook bloodworm through the head as they die too quickly, but rather just close to the head (something like the second segment if memory serves me correctly). What's your take on this?
I've not used it for years and live using bloodworm and joker. Doesn't the groundbait kill the joker. I used to just add the joker to the groundbait just before cupping or balling in. Ie would add a little joker to however much ground bait I wanted to put in each time?
Joker does not live in freshwater,Joker lives in stagnant stinking water it is not a natural bait.People used to get really ill gathering joker in the stagnant watercourses of the old canal circuit around Lancashire.Billy Makin got really ill after using some that had not been washed off,he never used Joker again.
Credit where it’s due. I’m not even a match angler and I really enjoyed this
Probably one of the best and most informative films ive seen on TH-cam fantastic well done 👏 truly a credit to are sport.

Brilliant video matt. So informative and, easy to follow. Top tips, will definitely be giving a go this, winter.
Spot on as usual matt. 👌 really helpful
Great video. 👍🏼😎
Great Vid Matt
I've fished with blood worm and joker, and had fish with joker on the hook with 24+22 hooks when fishing gets hard in winter
Great video very informative . Where can you get the shorting pattern sheet you used please

nice one Mat 👍
top man matt been a long time pal hope ur well
Great video Matt supper ;)
brilliant, nothing real new but spot on mate! Is there a reason for having marker on the line where the shots are?
Thanks Owen, this is just to simply mark where the position of the shots go on the line. No other benefit, than simply having the exact mark.
@@TackleguruTV awesome. Does the marker not kill your line? Or do you use is once after making the rig?
Great video! Does ”Will’s” 42 pattern include the hook length or did it start from the loop and they you add a 6 in length to that?
He says it's from the hook length loop.
It is from the loop Mats, so 42cm from bulk to Hooklength loop :)
Brill video. Any tips on how best to put them small stots/shot on the line?? Mine keep coming off!! 😥
Hi Darren, make sure you use shot pliers. These are very handy when putting small shot on the line

Hi Mark, Bloodworm and joker is equally effective on a feeder. It is something a lot of the Guru anglers fish with in the winter.

The toughest part of the bloodworm is the green tip/head as Matt explained. That is the best place to hook this bait. Thanks Johan.
great vid, make it look so easy, i'd also like to know where you buy from online?
Taffys bloodworm is who I get mine from
