To be fair to them: it's not entirely incoherent - it's pretty much all designed to evoke the kinds of things a student might doodle in their notebook, when their zoning out in class Which is pretty much a universal symbol for vague social dissatisfaction and aimlessness, Which is a fairly apt distillation of what the song is about. Notice how many of the effects look like they were drawn with pencils, paints or, like, those silly glitter pens? All the real faces look like stickers or like they were crudely cut out of magazines and stuck in with tape or pritstick, Lots of emphasis on hands: Walking their fingers across the desk, mimicking mouth movements etc. They probably stopped just short of drawing a moustache on one finger and holding it under their nose or using that weird stylised 'S' you see everywhere. It's all just the slightly psychedelic doodles of a bored teenager who's feeling bad about an argument he had with his girlfriend :)
