Seed of Perdition (Chrono Trigger "Lavos Theme", "World Revolution", "The Final Battle" Metal Remix)

- Another big project finished. This time, everyones favorite giant evil hedgehog, Lavos. All his songs as one big track to represent each stage of battle with him (minus that whole gauntlet of boss-repeats because srsly, I don't even.)
A sibling-project to Monument of Non-Existence, this took a lot of effort and revisions before it came out just right. I learned a fair bit of new tricks from working on this one as well which will go into making my originals even better.
Credits:
Entire song composed and produced by myself. (Using my computer only, btw. Srsly, I don't play guitar, people. Gawd...)
Original music composed by Yasunori Mitsuda.
Image Source: Don't actually know who made the original image (did some minor effects on it in Vegas) so if you know, don't hesitate to share so I can credit the creator.
Download: www.newgrounds....
Enjoy. :3
"But the future refused to change"
Honestly the most original and best way of saying game over.
It literally makes your defeat canon
Yes
@Lavos Omg you survived?? I bet you're waiting in some alternate dimension because of some newfound power from absorbing Schala or something.. quit eating my dreams!
IMO that's the canon ending.
0:00 Lavos' Theme - Phase 1 - Lavos Shell
2:09 World Revolution - Phase 2 - Lavos Titan
4:37 The Final Battle - Phase 3 - Lavos Core
I love how Lavos is a reference to the meteor that killed the dinosaurs, but is also a reference to Satan.
And it is supposed that thanks to him we evolved as a species haha
And is the final state of evolution for homo sapiens
BUT... THE FUTURE REFUSED TO CHANGE.
No. The future refused to remain unchanged. And you can thank Crono for that.
But you're STILL hungry.
1005 A.D. The fall of the kingdom of Guardia...
Lavos: [screams]
Sabaton: 🎵 THEN THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED!! 🎵
Sickkkk
if lavos is responsible for every single evolution on earth, then that would mean that every single mass extinction event was lavos, which is scary to think about, also that outer shell of lavos is literally just his ship and the spikes he fires are nuclear bombs.
But in the end Chrono and the gang defeated you and freed us from this mortal coil
Well you kinda came back in chrono cross messing up the time lines so the one I live in was saved by chrono but the latter is pretty bad. But how we are talking through dimensions and time I don’t know
@Lavos Or perhaps..... The future refused to change, afterall?
@Lavos You exist outside of time and space. You see eternally, exist eternally. Past, present, future. Your coming was inevitable from the very start, and you will continue to exist until the very end of time. Just because we defeated one instance of you that doesn't mean that there aren't more. It'll just take another few aeons for another of your spawn to reach our planet and start the cycle anew.
@Lavos Reminds me of the Elder God in Soul Reaver.
Lavos is such an intimidating horrifying concept for a villain. It's like The Thing except way more powerful and way more ancient with magical power. He was so powerful that the only way to fight him and stand a chance was to be powered by the magic that he himself is the progenitor of
this is probably the best remaster of a musical score I have ever friggin heard.
That’s crazy I just replied to someone asking how would Lavos look in our reality. I said like the Thing but not as random since Lavos has all this biological info since it’s crash landed
@@ED-le1pr Coincidences are weird like that. It's cool that we had the same idea. I swear Square villains would adapt well in to horror if you think about it.
Chrono trigger brings back so much nice memories
2:20 Metal world revolution? This is perfection my friends!
Lavos is a catalyst, hastening men into realizing themselves as progenitors and obsoletes.
Looking at the picture, Azala's battle cry "Red star fall!" would have been a great title for this song.
Stain the earth...RED!
If Chrono Trigger ever got a remake, this is what would play against the Dream Eater.
Hell yes it would!
This is very brutal. Love the guitar sound; Powerfull and evil
Thanks, man. I've been working on dat tone after listening to yours and other peoples uploads. :3
oh wow.
I was searching for a metal version of lavos theme, i was not expecting this.
Props to you man, that was huge !
This track is a journey.
And may your "Destin"ation be wonderful!
this is siiiick
Dear sweet lord in heaven this is one of the best tunes I've heard ever. Imagine you kick the hell out of the evil hedgehog and then walk into the maw of the beast and discover the menace inside right as the guitar kicks in. It is perfect. You capture the exact energy and crazy intensity of that final battle. My ONLY complaint is that at 2:52 for a bit a noisy background instrument overpowers the guitar a sec.
But other than that you've done a fantastic song. Damn good job!
I don't know why this doesn't get more likes and views. Huge success.
lavos killed the dinosaurs
And was possibly responsible for the Permian Mass Extinction too.
VestedUTuber since the chrono trigger date is about 1000 years in the future, 1999 there is 2999 here(around that)
MrMegamanGaming
The Permian Mass Extinction was 251 Million Years ago. I don't think a thousand-year gap would effect that.
VestedUTuber i mean the ct timeline is 1000 years late, like robots in 1000 ad, so 1999 there would be 2999 here
In reality, a "big fire from space " really did exterminate the larger Reptilians, allowing mammals 2 later thrive. After an ice age, etc. Evolutionary speaking.
Game: But...the future refused to change.
Chrono: Bitch, i'll make you change!
4:38
What a dramatic drastic arrangement and magnificent transformation!!!!!
I was moved into another world of Chrono trigger once listen to this music!!!!
U r definitely talented composer and the man who can provide surprising and excitement through a music!!!
This is still one of my absolute favourite videogame remixes, the energy as it bleeds through emotions from fear to sorrow to burning hope is just tremendously on-point.
Well. Wow. Been listening over and over. This song is awesome, and its barely noticeable its comuterised. Seriously kudos on that.
Lucky me to have fallen on it, ill be watching your work more closely, and adding quite a few of your songs in my playlist when im streaming games.
Thank for everyhing!
This is absolutely awesome. Well done! This would totally suit a modern remake or movie adaption.
O_O WANT =O
I listen to this all of the time! This is such a satisfying version. Thank you for putting it together.
This song gives me hope. No matter what peril lies ahead.
Thanks.
-Part 1: Friggin' perfect, you caught the grandiosity of this.
-Part 2: Honestly i have never thought this part blends well with metal, i mean the cool thing about World revolution is the transition from the desperation vibe from lavos theme into the more uplifting parts of the song, back and forth, and i don't think heavy metal captures that pretty well. But still amazing work.
-Part 3: You managed to keep the computer-ish vibe from the tune while still managing to make it metal, amazing.
I'll give it a ImI / 10
These riffs are....pure EVIL!
Gnarly as fuck my dude.
Love this version. Sound much darker than the original ones and they are pretty original. The parts you added, mix perfectly ;D Good job man
This is totally the heaviest CT remix on TH-cam. Great fucking job man. Fuckin brutal. \m/
HOLY GOD, WHO ARE YOU, WHY ARE YOU AMAZING!?
Legit good remix.
Love it, thanks for post! beautiful, epic, dramatic, challenging, Fearful, Apocalyptic, Courage!! hope you make more.
This is epic
THIS REMIX IS FUCKING AWESOME. CHRONO TRIGGER IS MY FAVORITE OLD-SCHOOL RPG. Thanks for reminding me how awesome it was.
Time to add another track to my "listen to when headphones are working again" list! Earbuds fail, but better than no audio.
But the future refused to change
the earth now decays
It's life has been drained
Scorched land rotted corpses
broken cities, shattered dreams
fractured clocks and twisted scenes
Time is dying, space is crying
entropy is laughing, the end is watching
Crumbling towers and great old devourers
Shell of cosmic rock and heart of hungry power
Larva of the stars from the abyss
The black omen of the red star
Gods, this is awesome! Beautiful work!
So badass! I enjoyed the whole song, but 06:28 and on is just mind melting love it! \m/
Boy this piece!!! I am battling Lavos along with Crono and the gang and I am Fucking wining, That is how this music feels like. All the pictures in my head. Man! It is a roller coaster.
A super powered version of lavos is what comes to mind when listening to this remix. The creature is stronger, faster, deadlier. Our heroes are in grave danger!! Awesome remix!
A near perfect blend of beauty and savagery. Amazing!
Best Chrono Trigger ost remix out there, hands down
Just found this. It's great! :D I love the ominous tone. Ty for sharing.
How have I never listened to this? Goddamnit Lash, you impress me all the time.
Yes.
Imagine if this played at the end of 2020
thank reality it didn't
2020 is undeserving of such consideration.
OMG THIS IS THE MOST EPIC REMIX EVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER
That was pretty awesome!
OMG damn it's incredible! 😎
At last... our final meeting...
*YOUR LIFE ENDS HERE!!!*
Badass.
Love the sound of impending DOOM this brings. Very fitting.
this is amazing
remember that lavos awakened from under the ground, meaning this image takes place not in 1999ad, when the world was killed forever, but in 65 million bc, when it was first poisoned with his existence
Yeah. Listening to this every day of the rest of my life. It's that awesome.
Awesome man. AWESOME.
Just as a fun little note, I listen to this everytime I draw something dark or doom-esque.
WHY CAN I ONLY THUMBS UP ONCE? THIS IS AMAZING
Perfection!
Brings tears to my eyes...
This is beautifully faithful to the original while bringing a totally fresh and incredibly sinister perspective to the entire suite. Bravo.
Very curious to know what programs you used to get the all the full, rich tones that you accomplished here.
Side note, the high harmonies on the guitars during the tail end of Seed of Perdition gave me the MEANEST stank face.
Can't stop listening to it
this is reeaaaally nice!
This is awesome!!
AWESOME! 10/10
That intro ALWAYS reminds me of Mobile Suit Gundam for some reason...still awesome tho
bring it on you dragon leech!
Great remix :)
Heavy Metal Music of The Gods!
Ugh it fucks my heart that chrono trigger got... abandoned by Square
O_O wowwwwwww
+IBroLLyI ISephirothI Lol. ;) I Conquer ♥.
Against all Odds, Stand Firm, Even if the odds are greater then you, for all time.
I King yah
Toma tu like buen hombre.
this is how the battle would sound if Crono had a guitar instead of a katana!
great job!
1:20
Hands-down my favorite track off of Badass Boss Music V3. Hell of a closing track to the whole album.
Damm!! This is a Real Metal Cover!
Well, have my like... you deserve it.
But the future refused to change
goosebumps
Did Uematsu have a hand in the chrono trigger score? 'world revolution' has me convinced.
(because no one else is on his level of truly peerless epicness)
+Rez Calm He did.
+Rez Calm Nope. It is all Yasunori Mitsuda. Square has a LOT of brilliant composers working for them. Uematsu may have been one of the best, but trust me....he was in good company.
+Rez Calm He composed about 9 or 10 tracks after Yasunori Mitsuda became to ill to keep working on the soundtrack. But yeah, it's mostly Mitsuda's soundtrack. And yeah, Mitsuda composed everything revolving around Lavos :)
I really enjoyed this version. I think a cover of the reptite lair would be awesome too.
Woooaaaw ! *-*
One of my, if not Favorite.
..... Aaaaaaannnnd, subscribed.
runeskyr85 and....ditto...copy catted
marriland was here!
I approve.
fuck me running that is amazing!
I'm not into metal or my ex gf. But I have to give u credit to this one. U did very well
So Lavos... Didn't expect us didya?
We're going to kick the shit out of you
With this soundtrack
I really like the place that this song came from, but it definitely needs to be remixed and remastered, It could be truly epic.
Good things come to those who wait. c:
@@Lashmush oooo :D
What VSTS and other orchestration programs did you use for this. This is amazing
I wish i could give thumbs to all the people with brilliant comments. To think that we are here listening to this, we must not be so different :)
Nice, added.
Nice
So chunky, you can eat it with a fork!
is it just me or are those guitar rifts sound like something off of bat beyond
👍

I found this through the Chrono Trigger subreddit, and I must say, this is absolutely amazing. Only thing I have slight problem with, as a drummer, is the little "over the top" drumming on some parts. I'm guessing the drums are programmed?
Otherwise, incredible. Love the song, both your interpretation and the original in the game.
Edit: Also, why in the world doesn't this have more views??
Everything in the song is programmed. I do try to adhere to a "should be playable in real life" construct whenever I write music but usually i'm mainly thinking in terms of not having more than two handstrikes at the same time for the drums. The BPM and hand-shifting between drumparts might be a bit superhuman here and there.
In regards to views, it probably needs more cats.
Lashmush True that. I actually noticed that there wasn't any distinct "three armed" parts in the drumming. Generally good work!
Anyway, I downloaded it from Newgrounds and have it on my phone now. Thanks for the epic song. Kind regards from Norway.
+Lashmush MEow
@@JonasMageroy Most OG comment ever. Check out Helix6 my dude!
One of my best songs on newgrounds, cheers!
May you make a Zeal theme, please? :3
If I get a good idea to base the remix on I'd say it's definitely a possibility.
Lashmush Yeah make it Corridors of time
+IBroLLyI ISephirothI No, Corridors of time has been overdone, no matter how great it is
sick remix, you never seem to disappoint. May I ask what software you use to compose and produce? thanks.
Renoise and a ton of virtual instruments. c:
