Hey mate yeah that’s definitely the plan. Eventually I’m ditching my current light setup for a couple real decent spotties at the front and a light bar on the roof
Thanks mate! Oh far out! I just did the conversion on that and that’s so expensive... all landcruisers seem to be holding their value, and older models are increasing value here. But none of them are worth quite that much in Australia
They’re both going to be great. On paper front mount is more efficient and always will be, but it comes down to whether you want something else at the front of the vehicle giving warmer air to the radiator and condenser. Engine is easier to access with front also. But I chose top because it’s easier to install, HPD assured me it’s pretty much just as efficient as their front mount because of the thermo fan, and I got to put a scoop on and I love the look of that!
@@jakedoyle8934 thank you 👍👍 and yes quite possibly will in the future. Hoping to find some time to finish this air compressor and get that video up and then air box is definitely on the list down the track
On the highway my EGTs were 350-400, now they’re 250-300. It’s a little hard to compare though because I’m not entirely sure when the thermo fan kicks in. In the future I might install a manual switch so I know it’s on most of the time. But there’s been obvious improvement so far and it’ll be even better when I get it tuned!
Yes the air still comes in from the snorkel. The intercooler is just like a radiator for the air, it cools the temperature down. It doesn’t suck in air from the intercooler
@@WillsLandcruiser thanks a lot. I save all your videos so I can modify a series 100 once I get one. You definitely help a bunch of people to modify and improve their land cruiser.
At the moment it’s terrible 😂 But that’s only because I haven’t had it tuned yet. Fuel economy will always be out of place when that air/fuel ratio isn’t right in the engine. It’s about 17L/100km at the moment, but I can let you know what it does after I get it tuned in a couple weeks!
Mounting the fan on the underside leaves a clear path for air flow at higher road speeds. The fan is mostly required at lower vehicle speeds; on the highway it's out of the way and allows maximum air flow via the hood scoop and road speed.
I’ve asked around but no one is sure. It doesn’t come on on the first startup in the morning but it seems to run most the time throughout the day- On the highway, in town, idling, startup after leaving the car for a while
@@benwinter2420 I’m thinking the intercooler fan starts at about the 30° mark. Won’t start whirring on your typical first start up but on a hot day it’ll be going before I even turn the engine over
Love the Vid of a great job Will, how good does it look mate. You are very inspiring in "do it yourself". Very Tidy
Nice one, love the light bar but maybe move it so it’s not creating dead air in front of your scoop 👍

Good job Will
From one Will to another
this is an awesome video mate, keep em coming!
Make sure you put a boost compensater on the pump when it’s tuned
Hey mate looking at installing on a 1hdt. Does it make a difference then the front mount?
Thank you so much that will help me out 👍
Looks good mate!
Nice job Will
Cheers Rob!
Hi awesome rig have you upgraded the transmission box after you fitted the turbo
Cheers mate, and nope it’s the same old gearbox and transfer case. It was reconditioned 15,000km ago
Hi, watching from the Netherlands Bud love ur car. Wish I could get a 105 / 80/ 70 myself but prices Are insane.
40k€ for a 105

What is the benefits of intercooler
Looks the goods... any reason for top mnt and not front mount?

Great stuff mate
I like you build and I really wish I could have a serie 100. I would like to know with an intercooler if you can go under water or cross a river?
Thx

Holaaa escribo desde Honduras donde puedo comprar ese tipo de kit
Привет! Скажи пожалуйста где заказывал всё это ?
What's your fuel economy like since putting the turbo an intercooler on? I've got 105series aswell an planning to do same as your one.

@@WillsLandcruiser what is it now?
Keep up the good work
hey mate does the 1hz have an EGR and did you have to block it when installing the intercooler? cheers
Later model 1HZs have an EGR (I think 2002 onwards). But mine didn’t. Always a good idea to get rid of it!
Great job will, since you had the turbo fitted have you tuned your landcruiser?
David Swieca thank you! I’m booked in for a tune at HPD in early September
How come the thermo fan is on the bottom?
It’s designed to pull air down through the intercooler. Guess it’s just the way HPD designed it. I think it looks pretty neat
Mounting the fan on the underside leaves a clear path for air flow at higher road speeds.
The fan is mostly required at lower vehicle speeds; on the highway it's out of the way and allows maximum air flow via the hood scoop and road speed.
Hey mate whats the distance from the fire wall to the back of the intercooler?
650mm 👍
Dimensión de ese intercooler? Cuanto mide?
HELLO, do you know at what temperature the fan turns on?
I’ve asked around but no one is sure. It doesn’t come on on the first startup in the morning but it seems to run most the time throughout the day- On the highway, in town, idling, startup after leaving the car for a while
Fans start when engine hot . . not before

Would this fit a land cruiser 80 with the 1HDT engine?
Couldn’t say for sure but I’d struggle to see why it wouldn’t fit mate
Do you know the hood scoop part number?
Yeah mate it’s BS-2-PL
@@WillsLandcruiser awesome,👍
Valve bounce it & you will burn a hole in piston before needing this intercooler
Hey mate not sure if I’ll get a response with being so late but how did u run the rocket cover breather after putting the turbo and intercooler on
Temporarily not hooked up, ideal to get a catch can and run it back into the intake system mate
