For something a little different, here are the top 5 cruises that I *hated*! I jest. "Hated" is a strong word, but these 5 cruises in particular left me wanting a whole more fun, including a refund sometimes.

Great video ♥️ our worst cruise to date was actually our very first cruise, which was on pacific explorer on the first cruise after the shut down. It started with me being physically pushed away from taking a photo of the outside of the ship by security (him saying the ship was private property and photos weren't allowed and he pushed me in my back all the way back to the terminal), that was not a great start. Then our luggage got lost until late in the night
Drinks kept getting added onto our account and we had to keep having them removed (as we had the refreshments package, so should not have been paying), then being told we didn't have a drink package, which we definitely did. Then being told we had no credit on our onboard account so could not buy anything (but we had put over $600 onto our account pre cruise). This was all sorted by day 2 and we ended up having a great cruise. But not before day one has me calling it the cruise from hell and saying I would never cruise agsin and that I was going home as soon as we got to Brisbane (our port of call). It was almost enough to turn me off cruising after one sailing. But I decided to give it another go and have now been on 4 amazing cruises and have 4 more booked :) cant wait till our February one with you Adrian ❤️ just hope I'm well enough to do it ❤️

I had three memorable experiences that I will share. Winter of 2023 I did a front facing mini-suite on a Princess ship from LA. There was line from way down at the front (where they strung lights on) up to one floor above me that ended on a flag pole. The line was not tightened sufficiently around the pole so when at sea there was non-stop clanging. After taking a video to guest services, they were nice enough to offer me an inside cabin to sleep in and my reserved room for day use. The second was the Carnival Miracle back in 2014; on that one they could not fix the AC in my cabin. It one setting the entire cruise--max! I spent most of the time on the balcony to stay warm and when inside, I had to put a winter jacket on. Showering was fast and me wrapped up in a robe and towels running to the balcony to dry off. Thankfully, that was a cruise down the Western side from Long Beach to Mexico so the outside weather was warm--Carnival did nothing even despite a senior officer recording the temperature in my room and telling me it wasn't a safe one. The absolute worst was around 2017. I took Holland America Oosterdam for a seven day on the same itinerary as the aforementioned cruise. The ship was run down, all carpets had water stains, furniture thread bare and the couch in my room so dirty, I could only sit on it after covering it in towels. It was such a depressing dirty ship that I actually invoked the Passenger Vessel Act (I believe that it the name) and departed in Puerto Vallarta. I could not bear doing two final days at sea in that thing. One year later the ship went through dry dock so I decided to give it a second chance and will admit that they did an excellent job cleaning it up. Though on that sailing, there was a propulsion problem so that cruise was delayed one day and we had to spend overnight in San Diego while one of the propellors was pulled off then repaired on the pier.

I didn't start cruising until August 2010, have almost done 40, mostly solo. P&O WAS my favourite line, but like you - 2 ships are now in my worst 5 cruises - the most recent being a Byron Bay Beach mini-suite on Pacific Adventure. The hot tubs were basically JUST that. Zero bubbles, not even a broken button. Ironically - I got Covid on Queen Elizabeth - but loved my deluxe ocean view room, room service and afternoon tea. Also the library and guest lecturer. The buffet and open deck burger bar weren't crash hot and the indoor spaces were definitely preferred to the open deck

The recent video you did about the NCL Spirit was great to watch. I had been on Spirit many years ago, long before the renovation. It looked like a whole new ship. It was beautiful even before the renovation, and I had such a great time on that ship. I remember it having a very oriental look to it. Like your review, I found the ship easy to navigate, beautiful, great food and service, and the entertainment was wonderful.

Last trip on Pacific Encounter. 10x our room flooded from blocked plumbing and overflowing toilets. Dozens of rooms seem to have the same issues. Public bathrooms all out of order. They didnt really seem to care as had so many complaints. Only hot water from the taps as well. The ship really needs a good overhaul. The forums suggest this was not a one off but a regular occurrence.

I think it depends on the level I know level 11 which friends were has all issues, we just did an 14nighter last week and never had any issues we always being on deck 5 it's the best deck done it like 4 times no issues and never had issues with the public toilets!

@@sarahmcivor1500 definitely seems to be the higher floors we were on deck 10 and it was a disaster. Guy who came to unflood us after 3 hours. We asked him why he took so long and he said he had 30 jobs prior to us and 60 on his list to go. That was on floor 10 alone!

I've been on over 30 cruises - here are my worst two:
Inaugural cruise on Pacific Aria Perth to Sydney (included the Five Ships entry into Sydney Harbour) - many venues not open, and the plumbing was bad in our cabin and worse on the same deck further down with sewage and showers flooding into the corridor. I seem to remember we were given another cabin on a different deck.
Inaugural cruise on Pacific Eden, after the Five Ships entry into Sydney Harbour, Sydney to Sydney or Brisbane - plumbing issues again on our deck, thankfully not our cabin except for toilets not always flushing. Ship was packed so dining options including the new Pantry concept did not cope well.
I have sailed on Oasis Of The Seas when it was very new - 7 days in the Caribbean - however I took note of feedback and booked all possible dining venues and shows so we didn't miss out. Was great to be able to just walk to the front of the queue to get our seats :)

I had a terrible cruise on Spectrum of the seas leaving China in 2019. Without being rude the Chinese were so pushy. Also even though we had priority boarding the dock kept all westerner standing in hot terminal for 4 hours to let Chinese in first. The only saving grace was we had mini suites which gave us a special dining and pool area

Have to agree about Service on QE; as frequent Princess cruisers (25 since 2017) we were very disappointed after the build-up but David from the Mid Ship/Gin Bar provided what we regard as the best service ever experienced on any cruise. The food wasn't what it was cracked up to be either!! But we're giving Cunard a second chance; we're off on QV in Princess Grill for 22 nights on 5th Aug, just 3 weeks away. Getting excited!!!!

Sad to say I have never cruised Cunard, but like your comment, I have heard the same several times over.
Love the Luminosa, for us she’s the right sized ship, geared towards an older demographic. We like her.
Can’t say I recall anything to do with the water, I was on her for 37 days, I love my tea, and I can taste anything wrong straight away. Maybe they now have it sorted 🤞🏻After 3 cruises on Pacific Adventure, it would have to be my favourite ship home porting in Australia. Like you Adrian, I look at what is offered, value, and whether they deliver. No good expecting Moët when you can only afford home brand bubbles.

We did our first ever cruise in Nov - Dec 2023 on Queen Elizabeth as a group of 7 and loved it so much that we have booked a second cruise in Dec 2024 on Queen Elizabeth. My sister who was with us also on the Nov - Dec 2023 cruise has already done her second cruise in Aus and about to go to Alaska all on Queen Elizabeth, then has a Nov 2024 cruise booked in Aus. As you can see we all loved our time on QE and each person has their own opinion and this is what Adrian is giving his opinion. So much to do, not enough time, loved the food, staff were lovely and very helpful and efficient. The Art Deco and the facilities were just what we needed to relax, recharge and enjoy ourselves.

But have had friends have bad rooms just did a 14 nighter and our friends couldn't use there toilet on deck 11 on Encounter it was the whole level and family got a room.above the night club on Liminosa they finally got moved day 3 of 7 nights but others rooms not so lucky they give them lots of onboatd so they just had to go party till 2am every night.

We spent 13 nights on the Ovation & loved it. The secret about having breakfast without a crowd was to get there early. Our worst cruise ship was the Pacific Explorer - cocktails were terrible, Deck 7 had sedge leaking onto the deck, waiters including bar waiters were rude. Maybe just as well its leaving the service.

    • @TheCruiseandTravelGuy
      @TheCruiseandTravelGuy  หลายเดือนก่อน

The longer cruises on Ovation are much better. I think the short cruise mentality kicked in on ours, and everyone tried to do everything they could in the little time we had. So it was bedlam 😂

Thankfully p&o have worked out most of the bugs with pacific adventure as I'm due to sail on her in September. But there will always be minor things on any vacation/cruise etc, as long as it doesn't ruin the experience and you take it for what it is, then you still have a good time.

I didn't enjoy my last cruise in January 2024 on the Pacific Explorer.
I didn't HATE it, but i just felt that too many things didnt meet expectations or go as planned.
It started with a port cancellation weeks before departure. Then our first day in Hobart was completely rained out - it pelted down the minute we tried to leave the ship. Didn't see much of what we wanted to see on our shore tour that day.
The beds in our balcony cabin were too squished together, it made moving between them difficult; half the bain-maries in The Pantry was shut for repairs for 3 days in a row for unknown reasons; food was generally hard to find on the ship for some reason (and wasnt of great quality); the complementary coffee in the Pantry was utterly undrinkable; two of our booked shore tours were cancelled and we had to hastily rebook new tours; my sister broke out into a mysterious case of hives one morning (cost $150 to see the onboard doctor) and the dis-embarkation process was a nightmare.
We did have some fun and enjoyment despite this, but it just wasn't what it could have been.
And yes, were are lucky to be able to cruise four our holidays - I get that, but... you know.

yeah, a bad cruise for me is laughable, but much better than being at work .. weeeeeee .. MSC Magnifica out of Miami was bad, service and food, but did find a bar that was not bad, and had some great dinner folks at our table, and again, laughed it off, but usually went up to get pizza at the buffet afterwards ..

I’m going back on Pacific Adventure soon, have plans to go back on Norwegian Spirit, and would happily travel on most of the cruise ships I’ve reviewed again in fact. Having cruised and worked on ships since 1970, I think rating a ship on a two or three day 'cruise' is a little unfair - and anyone who goes on these cruises is there to get drunk and go crazy - have always been the same even on 'Fairstair' in the late 70's ( which I worked on for 4 years ). Cruising has changed radically and ships these days are FAR too big and SO expensive without duty free drinks and mandatory gratuities - they have changed it from a fun time to a very ordinary holiday. Bring back the 70's.

Watch my Cunard review and you'll find I specifically mention that I believe the subpar experience had something to do with the short cruise.
I'm actually working on a video at the moment that's all about mega ships and how they might not fit in with modern cruising after all... For what it's worth, some of my favourite ships are those of the ex Renaissance fleet.
      Thanks for watching.
