Love that the SGT is wearing a Dragoon jacket, orange piping, with Cavalry chevrons. Costume folks deserve a raise for that little pearl.
To bad they couldn’t be more accurate with the guns used
@@deadhorse1391 yea, I get why they used conversions instead of percussion guns in filming. Also Spencer carbines and Henry’s were just starting to get in the hands of cavalry troops in the eastern theater of the of the war, much less the far flung edge of the frontier.
Orange? Looks yellow. Golden yellow to be specific. Yellow is the colour of the cavalry isn't it?
Look at the piping at the collar and on the jacket. It is clearly orange. Prior to 1859-60 we had 5 regiments of mounted troops. 1st and 2nd Dragoons, a regiment of Mounted Rifles, and 1st and 2nd Cavalry. All reorganized into Cavalry regiments before the war. Orange for Dragoons, green for Mounted Rifles, and yellow for Cavalry
@@deadhorse1391 Too... Too bad.
Costner has made another "How the West was Won" masterpiece. Its beautiful and made with love.
Well chapter 2 has already been made. And 3 is filming now. My guess is it might be shifted to streaming services. Sad it needs to be seen on big screen to really see how awesome the land is.
I don't think future Horizon movies will be cancelled. Kevin will probably negotiate a deal with Netflix for the remaining episodes of Horizon.
Slap fives!
Excellent western movie.
This movie is far far better than its box office shows. If you like westerns you’ll like this. If you’re not that into westerns but like gritty drama, you’ll like this.
I second that. Plus, if you like well-done art and art loved, you'll love it, too. :)
Costner makes a new western masterpiece!! The best film of the year! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Greetings from Australia, Today, my wife Jana and I took the opportunity to see this Kevin Costner movie Horizon. It was absolutely brilliant. It reminded me of old movies like How the West Was Won. Horizon was just a roller coaster of historic emotions. If you get the opportunity, go see it on the big screen before it’s gone.
This movie was fantastic!
My gf and i went to see it. Both loved it. Both of us really wanna see part 2 in the cinema.
Brilliant performances by really solid actors. Script is really well written too.
An excellent movie 3 hours never went by so fast I wish people would have given this a chance because I'm ready to see episode 2
How is this getting bad reviews? What a great scene with great actors acting. What more you need?
A plot.
I watched the movie; scene to scene it's fine but there's no actual overarching narrative. Just a bunch of disconnected stories the movie jumps back and forth between with little rhyme or reason.
Because the acting is mediocre. These guys have plenty of screen experience but this needed people with a bit of stage experience too. This, and many of the monologues in this movie, lack depth.
Did you watch it? Be honest, how many times did say to yourself "Wait, now who is This guy and where did he come from?"
Very poor editing. That's why.
I will always remember on Sunday mornings watching the old Western movies with my Dad in the 50's and 60's. My maternal ancestors were homesteaders looking for land and opportunity in the old West.
Brilliant movie.... ❤❤❤
Congratulations🎉🎉
Watched it Sunday. Loved it. Enough length to flesh out the characters and try to see what life was really like during the westward expansion.
Please Warner, release the three next movies !!!
thanks for bringing this to a small theatre like mine in our small city, the family and I are going to see this Saturday afternoon!
Will it still be in your cinema. It's gone from mine in Ireland. Saw it two weeks ago.
@@guimarboy yes, surprisingly. I live in a city of only 60k people
@@guimarboy Here in middle America (who were the early adopters of YELLOWSTONE) Warner Bros, KNOWS in the coming weeks, many more will take a break from Summer to SEE THIS.
Love this movie
Great understated performance by Danny Huston ! Totally believable.👍🏼
aw man - what a fantastic movie...... absolutely on the Epic scale with beautiful actors giving us superb acting... loved it - thank you WB, Mr Costner and all of the actors & crew involved in this...........
Magnificent movie! Go see it.
Please upload the walk uphill & gunfight scene between Costner & Bower. That scene is gonna be a classic!
NO.
I agree such a tense scene 😬
The SGT was probably my favorite character. Rookers portrayal reminds me alot of Victor Mclaughlin in John Fords Cavalry movies
Absolutely!
Excited to watch this movie.
A great movie! I must've written this a hundred times by now.
I just downloaded all 3 hours of this, can't wait to watch.
Horizon Chapter 1 is a great and ambitious Western. I cant wait to see what happens next.
I cant believe how hard this movie flopped so hard at the box office. But i dont think audiences like movies as much as they did in the 1990s. And i dont think people have the money to frivolously spend at the movies
Critics are hopeless...Wonderful movie. I am so looking foward to seeing series two. Kevin C in his movies tries to show both sides of the story. Although hard to get people into the Cinemas nowadays when it well be eventualy streamed.
He tried to tell both sides of ten different stories in 3 hours.
❤Bellissimo. Aspettiamo il secondo capitolo.
Literally the best movie I’ve seen this year
I definitely gotta see this it looks amazing forget about the lame critics
Excellent dialogue...makes me want to see it.
great movie so far
Im going to watch it tonight. I heard its fantastic. I like the scenes ive seen on here so far.
If Michael Rooker is in it, you know it’s going to be awesome.
Michael Rooker is the only reason I'm interested in giving Horizon a chance. Even in bad movies Michael Rooker's performances have always delivered.
BUT that being said.. that accent made me chuckle. It's not Camerion Diaz in Gangs of New York Bad, but its not convincing at all.
The word indigenous comes from the Latin word indigena, which means "native" or "sprung from the land". Indigena is a combination of the Old Latin words indu, meaning "in" or "within", and gignere, meaning "to beget". The word was first used in English in the mid-1600s, but the earliest documented use of indigenous was in 1632 by M. Stanhope
correct- but this word was not in common parlance in the United States unless you were Classically trained or had an expensive education. the Sergeant being Irish would have had a 4-6 grade education at best, whereas the officer would be more educated but do not expect college degrees. the common term of Indian was in use as well as more derogatory terms as there was a real war between the nations.
Another classic
This is a masterpiece🤩
Fantastic
The biggest problem I had with this beautifully shot movie is that they didn't set up the different story lines with context. They just dropped you in the middle of it.
Kevin a fait un nouveau et un grand travail❤zohra zohra
Sgt Orierdan is the best character. Him and mother. Lol
PS please make the next instalment.
Second Horizon movie already completed. Waiting for the right time to release it.
I like westerns and usually like Kevin Costner and was looking forward to seeing this one
Wasn’t a bad movie but was a confusing To long movie that jumped all over the place. Was to much in the movie.
I can’t believe no one talked to him about this,
im sure it will make sense after you see the other 9 hours of screenplay planned
Is it like a thing in his contract that he has to have that haircut? Everyone else looks like they belong in the period, and here comes jack reacher looking like sergeant pepper at a funeral.
No cartridge guns widely used at that time in history. Even during the civil war most small arms were cap and ball.
If you need to sleep this is the one.
3rdski 😊
❤❤
Indigenous? Aboriginal? Surely they would have just called them Indians
Or worse
Actually no, Indians are from India. Some native tribes in America got their names from Spanish conquests.
For a an old soldier in the old army of Britain, I can see the word “aboriginal” being used. Indigenous is less likely, but since Lieutenant Gephardt is the only one who says it, I chalk it up to it as a character trait of his being sympathetic to the Apaches. So while perhaps not used widely, individually, I can see it.
Sympathetic and educated
@@josephknaak9034 West Point education is a wonderful thing!
What a soliloquy...a masterwork of a movie and yet people inexplicably trashed it. Go figure.
There were too many overlapping plots, I couldn't keep track of them.
Jake Sully's ancestor, speaking to another colonel about crushing the indigenous.
Next movie he should market better. Instead of making rounds on the talk shows about how much of his own money he spent, he could have pumped up the supporting cast of actors, released some clips. It was all about him, it bombed at the theater, and now we’re getting some decent marketing.
This scene needed to be trimmed down some. Too much meandering dialogue. Some music mixed in at the right places would have helped too.
A realistic dialogue of the era. Appreciate that.
You're kidding me--a cavalry officer in 1860 called the Indians "indigenous"?
His character is pretty sympathetic to them, so I think it makes sense for him to use that word
Very Ozzie that word....
Even still, he likely would have just called them Indians or Apache. These were the more sympathetic terms. Less sympathetic would have been the "savage red man."
The fake Irish accept that seems to come and go with the sgt. is almost comedic.
💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Not showing in Trinidad at all. 😢
They don't like Heteromovies in Trannietown???
Huston
#Awardwinner
So everybody pontificates like Kevin Costner in this movie....
No wonder Yellowstone went away Costner took everyone else with him too
Maybe the least convincing Irish accent I've heard in years. I really like Rooker, but hearing that just makes this an automatic pass for me
Present 39 Minutes
Guy is MUMBLING.
Cant understand half his words.
I am going to see this one TWICE! IT WAS BEAUTIFULLY FILMED!!
They said Indians then not indigenous and bs
Can only understand HALF of what they mumble. Whatever happened to speech coachs?
Obviously a Yankee.
I heard the reviews are bad. I didn't think it would be this bad.
"What were you thinking for a script? Something like Quentin Tarantino?" - "Nah, just some mumbling, and stuff, and it will be like the actors are just reading off the lines" - So not compelling?" - "Yeah!"
And why not in that era of the wast
The word "indigenous" would NEVER have been used in the mid-1800s. It was always "Indian" so stop trying to be politically correct for the sake of ratings. That alone is a factor that turns me against ever wanting to watch this film. Bad choice, Kevin.
I agree with you👍🏻
Bro, they had more than one way to describe things back then. English is not a new language.
@@road_king_dude Yes, the word "indigenous" has actually been around since the late sixteenth century, however, U.S. Army personnel would not have been using it to describe native Americans in the 1850s or 60s.
@@davedawe2420 Well this particular character felt it better suited his diction.
I was not impressed. I hope the second part is better. "There must be something better on the Horizon". It's just about some scam artist selling dangerous land to unsuspecting people hoping to find some kind of freedom. Even his surveyors are killed but the sell is already everywhere. Probably needs the settlers to wipe out the Indians as there is something in that area he wants to make his fortune on.
Not watching anything with Kevin C in it anymore
How the west really was?

Too many actors from Yellowstone killed this movie.
I just didn’t like the woke thing… indigenous people instead of Indians?
This movie killed Yellowstone. I will never watch this
2 of the worst accents I’ve ever heard 😂
Indigenous wasn’t even in peoples vocabulary back then. Poor writing…
I thought I would make a woke movie and nobody watched it surprise.
I’d rather watch my toenails grow.
Incredible dialogue. Outstanding.
Pretty lousey
