Bm C Am Em, he's specifically just playing the octave and third of the chord. if you don't understand that, it's just the G and B strings of the Bm C and Am, and the G and D strings of the Em
On that part I always play a lifted A minor starting on the 4th fret then back to base A minor to G major on "and hold" I hope this isn't too confusing but it sounds pretty correct to me
