@@stephensmith9951 its become a norm to believe germs spread from one person to another and cause disease. its never been proven scientifically. Antoine Bechamp called Louis Pasteur a liar, charlatan and fraud who didnt understand science. Pasteur popularised germ theory and benefited financially from it. Tedward you have no idea how much I appreciate these therapy drive videos of yours. I go back and watch your previous videos sometimes a lot too, I’ve had an obnoxiously shitty week that’s thankfully getting better and this video is like an onramp to the highway of better days ahead. this weekend means no classes so I’ll do some therapy driving of my own. You’re a really great human and your video quality and content show that
I owned two 1980 911SC's. First one got destroyed by a rear end collision right next to Burbank airport, and it was Tobacco Brown. After I lost the first, drive a Miata from new 1992. Not enough power, so sold it and I found another 911SC and drove it for about 14000 before a friend insisted that HE buy it. I sure wish I kept another one, with the costs these days.
Re: distracted driving and greedy moves into traffic. Any time I find myself considering a risky move, in admittedly a fast enough car to pull it off, I think, “do I want to spend the next 10 seconds waiting, or the next two hours filing an accident report?” I’d rather be slightly annoyed than furious, so it’s a pretty easy call.
If the driver spends a lot of time in the higher revs or at higher speeds it’s common to rotate the tacho/speedo to make that range the most easily visible.
Regarding the nostalgia of feeling young and dumb, I get that completely. It is what I chase in a vehicle, and it's why I don't actually find a ton of joy in my ATS-V other than when I go full throttle for a couple seconds. I totally get the desire to be in something way more raw, because you get that feeling all the time without having to seriously break the law and put yourself and others in danger.
It is a pleasure to see and hear your 911 again, it's one of the reasons I started watching your channel 4ish years ago and it's always a treat to get more of it. Thanks for this one :)
Please put the lower lap belt through the holes in the base of the seats instead of over the top of them to avoid submarining! You can get seatbelt extensions for the buckle that you can loop through the hole to achieve this.
Always love seeing this car on your channel. I just bought my first air cooled car - a 1973.5 Viper Green 911T hot rod - and I’m BEYOND excited. This video totally encapsulates what the air cooled driving experience is all about. Thanks for sharing as always!
you're also forgetting the fact that road deaths are increasing because of intentional misconduct on the roads these days. look at the social media scene for "cutting up" basically just reckless driving while recording for social media clout, this influences a lot of people to drive the way they do, as its "fun" (adrenaline inducing), but selfish and dangerous
The gauge slant is a great idea, I need to do that on mine. No steering wheel adjust means you get the choice of the tacho obscured by the factory wheel or the speedo obscured by a race wheel. Pretty much everything you said about the 911 follows my sentiments about my modded 190E. I drove a lot of AMG especially for work including the GT/R and all the 63s and still rate my rough old 190E as pound for pound the most fun for engagement although an older C-class 512-edition is the most hairy if being terrified is engagement and the GT/R of course is a loss of license if you touch the accelerator anywhere on a public road, at all which actually makes that not a fun car to drive at all, you spend the whole time idling everywhere wishing you were on a track. My old car feels fun and powerful within its own context whilst staying easily within road laws and as you said, is tons of fun and completely engaging even when driving casually.
I have a 3v mustang and it’s manual… rn it’s in the shop and also in storage for another 5 months and man I miss driving her 😭 there is absolutely no better feeling than having raw power like that! And the noise that circulates through the cabin is like no other. My family is all used to the feelin of normal cars like my mom 2012 Hyundai accent, when she gets in my passenger seat even she gets a little excited. Man no matter how bad a situation may be, u cannot be sad for longer than 3 or 4 minutes in the mustang. It’s just such a good feeling

Never sell the 911! I sold my 964 two years ago, and even though I replaced it with a 996, I still regret it every day. The newer cars are just not the same.
I've always found it interesting how the flat-six sounds relatively relaxed at 4-5K rpm. My old '72 911T had a similar sound. I hit 5K in my current Miata and it's wailing a good bit more.
I always enjoy seeing you take this for a rip-no rev hang and lots of mechanical noises! The annoying thing is the shift light in the tach, not the slant. The light in my buddy's 911 is ALWAYS on lol, I'd be disabling it. Yours seems a little more sane.
That's the exact Porsche that I wanted back in the day. I could've bought one for around $20K in the late 90's and have regretted not buying one ever since.
Was really cool experience seeing you drive this car, because I've only seen you pull up in it or drive off. She's so smooth like butter. I'm intrigued by these sideways gauges. I'd like to try them. I think I miss driving a little.

Ted, when you get the opportunity, I think you should look into driving the Honda CRX as well. As far as I noticed, that's one car missing a video. Might have a similar feel to this Porsche, but with front engine and things like that.
I've always wanted an older 911 for all the reasons highlighted here but due to the nature of my work I have seen far too many injuries from car accidents, specifically related to facial trauma (head vs steering wheel etc). It is now unfortunately a very hard sell for me to get into something without any type of airbag while on the road.
Love your car and the clear joy it brings you!! I wish I would’ve been following you long enough to have already watched all your content on it. So I’m sure you’ve explained before but can you elaborate on the clocked tachometer in more detail? It seems counterintuitive at first glance. I’ve never seen a car that redlines at “noon” and that position seems to be blocked by the steering wheel from your POV. So on the surface it feels like undesirable placement 🤷🏼

Looks and sound are more important than raw speed.
Congrats on the 88k Tom! I only wish my cars were that low🤣 my '94 coupe is close to 203k (in km, not sure what the ml would be)
Thank you! It translates to only about 126k miles!
Doesn't sound as bad when you put it in miles🤣
I love my 84 M491
Wow 🤩
8:57 I always worry that my '87 is burning too much oil but then I remember I also do this on every on ramp
You live right near me in MA lol. I take my Kawasaki Z900 down by that McDonalds and WalMart all the time.
