I love the music and the animation. I do not know the style that would hold the sword with the right hand on the bottom. As a Kendo practitioner and traditional weapons practitioner, I have always utilized my right hand on top both with the shinai and with the katana.
Although rare, left handed attacks (if dominant), have the initial advantage. So, if left-handed, ambidextrous, or cross dominant, it is possible to attack in this way. However, such a strategy is thought to be stronger at first, and weaker during a longer fight. This is due to positioning.
Because kendo fights tend to go beyond the first few attacks, and the traditional hold is right hand on top, this grip in the photo is rare.
Perhaps she is a very confident sword fighter.
@@lukevandevoorde2246 This isn't left-handed really - this is right-handed with the hands in the wrong place. Otherwise we'd see her running the other direction and the sword's blade would be facing the other direction (because everything would be on the other side instead.) Strong hand on top for power, weak hand on bottom for control.

actually I'm fairly sure that is a legit way to hold the sword when running but I'm no expert
