    They are underrated because radio stations will not play a Capella. It’s so insane

      Even more insane considering most of the time you seriously can't even tell it's Acapella!

      except during christmas until everyone thinks thats all they do and starts hating them !! 🤪

    PTX is SO underrated. so tired of everyone thinking they just do xmas music covers. they're so crazy skilled & versatile & they deserve to be taken more seriously and respected. seems like they rarely are. their latest original album The Lucky Ones was hardly promoted and ended up not doing very well, but its one of my favorite albums of all time (especially the deluxe version!) - right next to Superfruit's Future Friends album !!

    Sadly TMS is not about finding the best singer. It's about creating the most compelling dramatic story. The producers wanted a "rags to riches" story and picked Medusa early on, always keeping her as the "underdog" so they could trot out her as winner. Too bad she couldn't sing! Her style is to screech creatively. It works for some songs but really, really fails on most. They came in 3rd. (As an aside, no group has ever won TMS in the US since the show began. Since they just rejected the best group of all time, I'd say it's unlikely a group will ever win on TMS.)

    Wasn’t it amazing to see them sing Creep at the end, seeing their faces while singing is just so powerful!
    Scott just released his 3rd solo song, called Four that he released on his wedding day (also check out Parallel and Mars.
    Mitch just released Oblivion on July 14, under the name Messer.

    100% Nicole knew who it was. She has personally worked with Scott and knows very much who Pentatonix are. But I think, sometimes they pretend not to know who it is.

    I loved the fact that you identified the first song instantly, and immediately just off-handed, "That's Scott." He said he was actually trying to disguise his voice, but anyone familiar with Pentatonix recognized him within a couple of seconds.
    My favorite of the songs they performed was Total Eclipse of the Heart, because it was really the first time that the audience and the judges got to hear all of the others in the group sing as a solo, and could realize that everyone was an accomplished singer in their own right. And they even got to do an a cappella section for the last 20 seconds or so of the song - which should have been a dead giveaway, for anyone who was still wondering about them!

    For "Breakaway", it was Matt singing when you said that you could not tell if it was Kevin or Matt. On "Total Eclipse Of The Heart", in order, from the start, were Matt, Scott, Kirstin, Mitch and Kevin. Thanks for reacting to all of the performances. They did a great job on all of them. I had never heard of the winner, Bishop Briggs, and I did not know any of her music. She had a very sad sob story week after week. Empathy votes still count.

    That was Matt singing lead in Pray.

    It's too bad they didn't win, but it was unlikely, considering that MS always goes for the underdog and PTX had to go on tour about the time the show was being recorded.
    Did you know that Scott is releasing his first solo album, Parallel, on the 28th of this month? He's already released three songs from it: "Mars", "Parallel" and "Four"...all worth watching!!

    Recommend their cover of Mad World.

    I was in the Berlin, Germany, concert where they sang creep live. In my opinion even better than the unmasked version (they sang the song in the concerts after the official revealing so zhey have had more practice)
    Great reaction and Greetings from Germany

    There were 2 judges that picked them. Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy bot said PTX by the third song and stuck with that through the end. Nicole Schweringer (spelling) mentioned them as a possibility a couple times but ultimately guessed someone else.

    3rd....and no they should not have lost but I think all the judges figured out who they were. Just to throw this at you, Citizen Queen "Evolution of Girl Groups" female A Capella group formed by Scott of PTX. Try also CQ with "Never Enough"

    They recently put out a new original you should definitely check out. It is called 'I Rise', there is not an official music video out yet, but there is an official visualizer with lyrics and a few fan cams out there of them performing this live on their USA leg of this years tour. Here is a link to a better quality video/audio of it th-cam.com/video/NWLGhIWvdf4/w-d-xo.html

    PTX had beaten Medusa earlier in the show but she was saved by the judges in one of their three vetoes. PTX finished third and Medusa ended up with the win I believe. As far as I could tell the finale was strictly for entertainment.

    They COULDN'T win. This was actually running during their recent world tour. Obviously it was filmed in advance, but they couldn't stick around long enough to appear throughout. Note that Kevin didn't do any beatboxing until the episode where they were unmasked. They seem to have been under the illusion that not beatboxing was an effective disguise. The fact that they dropped that disguise in that final performance says that they knew it was their final performance.
    I think they told the producers up-front exactly how many episodes they could devote to the show, and arranged to "lose" after their fourth performance.

    I like Matt but unfortunately, he's the bass they have and not the bass they need. Avi spoiled me. It's not ideal when your baritone (Scott) can sing lower notes than your bass singer. Their voices are so bright and dynamic that they need a true bass to anchor and balance the sound.

    • @Iwonka0081

      i prefer matt than avi. for me matt voice is better sound and more intresting than ptx sound before him. he is the bass of the group for almost 6 years. matt can go lower than scott. i love matt and scott my favorites of the group. remember scott is older than matt in bass when you older you go lower

    • @rfiliagaful
      @rfiliagaful ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Love them both, but absolutely, Matt IS the bass for this group. The "perfect" bass singer isn't about how low they can sing. (IMO) All of the bass competition amongst the groups isn't necessary, and it seems like some groups purposely put extraneous super low notes into songs just for the wow factor and not because it's musically enhancing the songs - including this one that makes Matt vulnerable because the notes are obviously at the very bottom end of his range and so garners criticism. I love low bass notes as much as the next person, but not as a "just because I can" addition that makes no musical sense in the song.
      Regardless, Avi was fabulous and I love all the songs he did with PTX. Though my favorites that highlight Avi are A Light in the Hallway and Hallelujah where he doesn't even come close to singing his lowest notes. Matt was incredible in Mr. Grinch, but my favorite of his is New Rules x Are You That Somebody or Amazing Grace. Again, they aren't at the bottom of his range, but they showcase his great abilities. Matt has earned his place in this group, especially as in a very short time he'll have been with them longer than Avi was. Avi freely made the choice to leave the group; Matt didn't push him out and it's not his fault that Avi is gone. I wish that he would stop being treated as "the new guy". He's definitely NOT the new guy anymore.

      They settled on Matt largely upon Avi's recommendation. I have always wondered if he didn't recommend Matt because he knew that no one, let alone Matt, could really replace him. I find it hard to believe that there was not one single bass singer who could truly sing bass notes, even if they didn't have the smiooth operatic training that Avi brought to the grou.

    • @Iwonka0081

      @@susansisson366 avi didn't recommend him it was ben bram aka ptx arranger that suggest matt to go auditon. Matt didn't want for what group he was audition for. Don't believe every rumor if you don't know that are correct

    • @rfiliagaful
      @rfiliagaful ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@susansisson366 sorry, but actually, that is one of those TH-cam myths. Avi had absolutely nothing to do with Matt's selection, nor did he recommend Matt to them.
