Honestly this guy is an angel. He raps about his addiction to nicotine, but in a way that allows people to relate it to their own addictions, but also relationships.

Sean West exactly and people are comparing logic to trash rap songs saying the other songs are better. Not even a competition, this song actually has meaning unlike some other rap songs.
Nikki: Nicotine (Refers to as the girl he loves but knows isn't good for him) Mary: Marijuana (Refers to as a girl he was with when he didn't know any better) Jack: Jack Daniels (Refers to as the friend that he went to but wasn't there when he needed him, "Where you been jack?") Logic's lyrics are so deep. The whole album is amazing.
"I love it when your fresh, I love it when I take your top off and we share the same breath" That line be hitting hard. The way he made it out to see as if it was a girl, rather then Cig's is utterly amazing.
For Logic, this was about cigarettes and his addiction but he wrote the song in such a way that we can relate it to our own addictions, our own toxic relationships, even if for us, it really is another person or something completely different, and I honestly love how he's made music out of his own life but made it for other people.
Don’t hate on any of the albums, his fire is still there, but it’s small. But like fire, some fuel and some heat, add some amazing bars. You got yourself him back. He’s gone through a lot of things. It’s no wonder supermarket and coadm weren’t such big hits as UP, TITS, and BT.
Joshua Pabilonia look, I don’t want to get into an argument, but who cares if he’s trying it to top off any other good rappers. Sure the negativity from his first two albums and uses it in the next. But it’s still music, still has a good flow, it’s a different style, but maybe later on he’ll go back into his old flow and style. It’s only a matter of time. There’s no time to judge or anything like that. If we ever meet again in the next album, who knows, maybe it’ll be like coadm or it can this album all I’ve again.
Remember when he was dropping songs with a verse or two about Nikki and everyone wanted to know who she was, and than he dropped this and we were all like DAAAMN THIS GUY DEEP

My favorite Logic song. I'm a recovering heroin addict(my name is also Nikki, lol), and every verse just hit home for me. I am glad to say I haven't touched my "Nikki" since November-December. It hurts listening to this song even though I always play it. Almost all my life I've been sad and or depressed, and the past three years I've been depressed. I've had three therapists now and still nothing has changed. I've thought about ending it and everything so many times but when I heard this song, it hit me. I was starting to smoke cigarettes when this album came out, and for a while, I'd play this song every time I smoked. Recently last month in February, I went to go see Logic in Sacramento, bought the V.I.P and everything. I remember he gave me a hug because after the signing and picture because I told him that he saved my life, and he did. As I Am has helped me and a lot of his other tracks. When he preformed this live at that show I broke into tears, it's amazing how music can affect someone. I can sort of relate to this song, talking about Mary and Nikki, the craving, the taste, seeing her everywhere, Nikki was my stress reliever. I haven't smoked cigarettes since November of last year and doing "well." I thank Logic, VMG, and Hi-Rez for doing what they do, they saved my life.
severus no man its not that one dimensional you gotta see how he's adapting to the main stream while still sticking with the message and vibe he's had since day one
Just connect it to an aversive stimulus. For me it was almost drowning at about half an hour of swimming in the morning, because my heart and lungs got fucked up from 3 hours of hookah the night before. Haven’t smoked since 2014.
Tell me about it man. Go listen to old Eminem songs, that shit is where lyricism is at its best. This is just reviving what's been dead for so long cuz these "gangster rappers" are too "real" and yet each song is the same...money, pussy, and weed. Sad that Logic has blown up this big metaphors..and there are plenty of rappers who have done this wayyyy before him.
Just told my dad I vaped and that I’m trying to quit and that I needed his help and he wasn’t that mad. He was understanding and wanted to help me. And man this song made me do it. So hard for me to do and logic motivated me
Man I love Logic versatility throughout his whole discography. This track just hit different as adult versus as a teenager. I get the references the metaphors and the message. This man was ahead of his time. He still is… can’t wait to bt3 + more
I think the song is about an addiction period. People can be addicted to anything; drugs, alcohol, ciggs, sex, a person. All of those themes are incorporated in this song. I think hes telling us what addiction he has and that is with ciggs.
Listened in '14, '15, '16, '17 now '18. Let's see how long I can keep this shit going. I'll post each year. Now in '19, sorry for the delay '20, still as dope as the first time I heard it! '24 moved across country and play this almost everyday to reminisce.
Chris Uribe I mean before you find out it's a song about cigs it sounds like a breakup song. he can't get "her" out of his life idk some bull like thay
Nicotine is a neurotoxin. In tobacco, it is the active substance that makes you addicted. Nicotine gets into the brain within seven seconds of smoking. Due to its chemical structure, nicotine acts as a natural messenger in the nerve cells of the brain and can create relaxation, happiness and excitement. This quickly achieved kick causes a short sense of reward. When the added nicotine level drops again, the reward system in the brain calls again for the drug. From these directly experienced positive effects is the high addiction of nicotine. The nicotine in tobacco produces dependence in around 80% of smokers. The addictive potential is comparable to that of heroin.
not to be a spam but i just did a version of my owns and would love some feedback from everyone if it wasnt to much to ask. just looking for some love and a way to connect.

I remember listening to this masterpiece while I used to smoke thinking I’ll never quit smoking its been 3 and a half years now and its all past. But Nikki still is the hit.
I love your music Logic. It can some of the most meaningful lyrics or it can be a good party starter. Either way you are definitely my favorite rapper of all time!! Plus you're so down to earth that it's amazing! Love you Logic ❤
Just smoked my last (lucky) cigarette while listening to this. After 7 years of slowly killing myself, I am going to try my hardest to let nikki stop taking advantage of me and ruining my life. God bless you logic, this is the most inspirational song I know.
Believe it or not my first time listening was during one of the happiest moments of my life: I’ve spent a semester abroad in South Africa and went on a road trip with a guy from Nebraska I met during my studies. It was the first day of our road trip and we drove for 8 hours straight. It got pretty dark and as there are no (traffic) lights at all during night time in the rural Wild Coast of South Africa I had a hard time driving. So he played this song and we went on a gravel road with pot holes bigger than Pluto. I was sweating in fear, curving around these holes going 60mph in absolute darkness because we wanted to reach the hostel before it closed during nighttime while my buddy started playing this song. Everything went silent in my head, the car almost automatically drove itself and I entered a stage of absolute calmness. And for some reason I never felt more alive. Thank you Derek - I had the greatest time of my live during the road trip that started on that evening!
All those who smoke and are trying to quit I feel for ya. Started when I was about 16 and I can say it's the hardest thing to do. I've done a couple drugs and none of them compare to cigarettes. It just becomes habit to do it. Can't wait for the day I stop and I firmly stand by all those who are trying to quit.
actually this song is about addiction in general, whether it be a girl, a person, weed, cigs, other drugs or alcohol .Its something thats toxic and something that you cant let go even though it hurts you.
Logic made this song to be open to interpretation. Whether you're listening because of a girl or because of a nicotine habit, everything is an addiction.
Honestly this guy is an angel. He raps about his addiction to nicotine, but in a way that allows people to relate it to their own addictions, but also relationships.

I’m crying!!!!!!!
I cant believe that this album has already been out for nearly 2 years, I remember a few days before the release getting the leak!

Trying to quit smoking right now. Thank you logic.
How’s it going
I bet you still smoking
Just connect it to an aversive stimulus. For me it was almost drowning at about half an hour of swimming in the morning, because my heart and lungs got fucked up from 3 hours of hookah the night before. Haven’t smoked since 2014.

Not dissing the song, but you people saying how clever the Nikki metaphor is are easily impressed
Most of Logic's fan are younger and new to hip-hop culture. Let them enjoy it.
maybe cuz most music these days are made by people who dont put a lot of work into their music
Tell me about it man. Go listen to old Eminem songs, that shit is where lyricism is at its best. This is just reviving what's been dead for so long cuz these "gangster rappers" are too "real" and yet each song is the same...money, pussy, and weed. Sad that Logic has blown up this big metaphors..and there are plenty of rappers who have done this wayyyy before him.
ractzzz man
@Demetri lol exactly what the fuck I was thinking , it's pretty straight forward .
Just told my dad I vaped and that I’m trying to quit and that I needed his help and he wasn’t that mad. He was understanding and wanted to help me. And man this song made me do it. So hard for me to do and logic motivated me
If we hear people start calling cigarettes Nikki, we know Logic made it.
Yep

FACTS
another good one is now

I think the song is about an addiction period. People can be addicted to anything; drugs, alcohol, ciggs, sex, a person. All of those themes are incorporated in this song. I think hes telling us what addiction he has and that is with ciggs.
very true well said

***** You can't be in the middle of quitting, but you can be in the process.
Just smoked my last (lucky) cigarette while listening to this. After 7 years of slowly killing myself, I am going to try my hardest to let nikki stop taking advantage of me and ruining my life. God bless you logic, this is the most inspirational song I know.
Alec Beaird did you quit?
Alec Beaird my last was the lucky one too bro stay strong
I bet u still smoking
One of the best songs I’ve ever heard, every one every line is on point, love it will always listen to this song
this is the kind of logic I want to hear.
Nothing like a song that can make you reflect on everything
heard this song for the first time about a year ago & still to this day listen to it countless times a day
Believe it or not my first time listening was during one of the happiest moments of my life: I’ve spent a semester abroad in South Africa and went on a road trip with a guy from Nebraska I met during my studies.
I just sent this song to my sister who smokes...I can just hope she listens to every word and decides to stop.
She's quitting! :D
***** sadly i cant send this to my girlfriend , since she doesn´t understands alot of english , we are both portuguese btw.
Razz HD translate this song to Portuguese so ur gf will understand smoking is terrible for u and it ruins lives so I hope the best for u guys
nahh like , alot of english words and phrases dont make sense in portuguese actually
Have someone explain it to her like someone who understands English well >.>
Seriously this song is so lyrical man thumbs up to logic for that great song ! Definitely my favourite on his album !
I am in love with logic.
What the fuck
😂😂🤣🤣
Genius. One of my top 5 fav songs of all time.
Helllla
All those who smoke and are trying to quit I feel for ya. Started when I was about 16 and I can say it's the hardest thing to do. I've done a couple drugs and none of them compare to cigarettes. It just becomes habit to do it. Can't wait for the day I stop and I firmly stand by all those who are trying to quit.
actually this song is about addiction in general, whether it be a girl, a person, weed, cigs, other drugs or alcohol .Its something thats toxic and something that you cant let go even though it hurts you.
@Brandon Ohara its true it was based of him quitting cigs. but yeah he also meant it to be relatable to a girl in the beginning then to addiction.
Brandon Ohara people just need to remember that “addiction” is a very broad term. You can become addicted to anything in this world.
Logic made this song to be open to interpretation. Whether you're listening because of a girl or because of a nicotine habit, everything is an addiction.
shit
