I've always liked to think that Bonnie and Monty were friends when he was still around, and his absence is the reason why Monty is so angry

I don't think that is true. In one of the new endings, Monty actually teams up with Vanny to destroy bonnie
No I don't believe that I think it was just Vanny making the staff bots destroy him like they did to Freddy in that one Ending.

I find it interesting how, despite the game implying that Monty murdered Bonnie, a good chunk of the fanbase prefers to see the alligator in a more sympathetic light.

Would be cool if Gregory somehow recommissioned Bonnie, and after he sacrifices himself for Monty, despite having been scrapped by him, it ends up making Monty realize the error in his ways, or something around those lines.

This is a very interesting theory. The notes said that this had already happened once, but with Monty everything was (sort of) in order. Perhaps that is why the bonnie disappeared, and they hesitated to fix it, this explains the aggressiveness of the monty.
This is an alternate universe where Monty never destroys Bonnie but rather Bonnie saving Monty

Honestly, I feel as if this happened, not with Gregory, but it makes sense to me. Monty could’ve been damaged from a fall before, and Bonnie witnessed said fall, and then hung around more with Monty in order to make sure he stays safe. Then it almost happens again and Bonnie saves him. Fazbear Entertainment may not have wanted to pay as much to have the damages fixed, and Bonnie may have been losing a bit of popularity, so they gave up on him.

My question is, how did Bonnie not see the bucket he seemed surprised when it came close. So...he didn't see it until it was too late which means that he didn't know what he was saving Monty from, right? Therefore he just straight up ran and pushed Monty for no reason.

Scott was Interviewed and even described how “Monty wouldn’t leave Bonnie’s side, they’re brothers.” Monty was given the bassist role by Bonnie. But the reason Monty damaged Bonnie was because he wasn’t very fond of Freddy, and Bonnie was dressed up as Freddy. So Monty in a fit of anger, killed “Freddy” but later realized it was Bonnie.
Now this is why we see Grimlock Bonnie destroyed in the ruined

That was a pretty good video nice job 👍 but I am sad that my favourite animatronic got destroyed by Gregory but it wasn't Gregory's fault he was trying to protect himself from Monty and then Bonnie got what Monty was going to get if Bonnie didn't save him
Analyzing it well, Gregory is not to blame, Monty without thinking twice had the intention of hurting Gregory, the boy only defended himself, although it seems sad, the fault was Bonnie (well, if he did not know about Monty's actions, it's fine) but if he did I knew that, I thought it was silly of him...
I do not justify Monty being angry at Gregory, because for his actions, Greg had no other remedies....

Because in year 1983 the bite of 87 (in 83) Freadbear and Spring Bonnie is no more BEST friends and today Freadbear (known as Golden Freddy today) he is alone and torturing William being Cassidy for stop existing and this is 'Good' for every animatronic. That means Glamrock Monty and Glamrock Bonnie is same as these two.
