so listen, Ricks original morty is evil morty, but something went wrong and he cloned evil morty into our morty. Rick said he can make perfect clones with all memories and everything so thats why the morty mindblower episode was a thing, to show that rick controls memories of practically anyone. So he took away the clone morty's (our morty) memories of him becoming evil morty and possibly everyone elses memory of evil morty in the family, that then also erased rick from being around and thats why everyone thinks he was gone for so long then came back, nobody remebers it cause he took all the memories away. Also explains why rick was seen at mortys birthday party in the first evil morty episode.

Nothing happened, the finale wasn't special. Was this the joke, and was it on us? the whole season Rick kept saying nothing mattered and nothing is special. Then this happened and after the credits that Mr. Poopybutthole talks about all he accomplished and hoped people didn't just sit and waiting for the show. That's why I think this. No Evil Morty, no Tammy or Phoenixperson, nothing big. Just what seemed like a normal episode.

The "evil Morty" will show up for 2-3 minutes at the end if at all. This show will never finish a big an connected story. Season 4 will have 1 episode about bird person with a tiny reference at the end.

To be honest even before this season finale aired I kinda guessed we weren't going to get more to the Evil Morty storyline. Honestly, it seems the more speculative parts of the fanbase have this predisposition to just jump to Evil Morty theorising and hoping when its pretty clear at this point that the creators have no intention of doing what the audience may expect and don't tend to finish storylines in a single season.
Maybe its just my own cynicalness but really I was never expecting any more Evil Morty this season. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see much of him in Season 4.

Honestly, I wish any of this would've happened. I got into this show at the very end of last season and the season finale for Season 2 was freaking amazing. So, I had really high expectations for this finale. However, it felt like just a normal episode. I really think that the Ricklantis Mixup would've been a way better finale for this season; end it with a punch, leaving us on the edge of our seats. That episode's end was by far the best of this season and if the finale had even half that impact, I would've been a lot happier.
TyphonIsKing That's actually a neat idea. If we treat Ricklantis Mixup as the finale, it wouldn't really affect the storyline.
