None of the pieces “you” have ever written can seem to convey any emotions besides “corporate drab”. “You” are chained down by what is profitable, not what is inspiring. Your ego inflated so large you can’t see past your own big head. I applaud your marketing people, somehow they managed to make enough deals to get you on any chart. The only thing inspiring about “your” music is that some how, people put up with it enough that the stores you music is played in are still in business (although struggling and in decline.) Your career is proof that creativity is no longer appreciated. Mariah Carey, the house hold name of mediocracy, eye rolls, changing the radio station as fast as you can, and functionally alcoholic battered wives. Sure you can hit a note, that means nothing if the notes you hit are a chore to listen to, it means even less when you consider the army of people who put time in to your music OTHER than you. It’s shockingly sad that your “music” is palatable to enough of the general population to generate revenue. If you sing like an angel, I DON’T want to go to what ever heaven you believe in! Everybody is talking about the vocals and such. I speak German and it’s the lyrics. The vocals just push the emotions of „crying“ to a next level. Looking out on the window and sobbing? (Parts of the lyrics) This is how it sounds inside of you and Nina just described it in words and gave it a voice. That’s why I love punk and performances that show true passion. „Punkrock should mean freedom, liking and accepting anything that you like, playing whatever you want, as sloppy as you want, as long as it’s good and has passion“ - pg.99
Except a genre doesn't mean you can do what you want, but rather do what you can from what you are inspired from (plus many other factors as mix of individual preferences and skills in music, their decisions together, and so on). Punk-Rock surely got a great deal of artists, but compared to many genres... You'll always find more doomed ones or more liberated ones. By the way, thanks to put the meaning of the lyrics, because I was waiting for that... I felt that there was a purpose, but I was only in a myst. So thanks! :)
@@Donjonneau The song is called "nature tears" and she describes looking out the window at night down on the city street and describes the scenery outside and she is overwhelmed with negative emotions and just cries. It is basically an anxiety attack put in a song (at least just judging from the lyrics, maybe there is a personal backstory she has). I find this song and this performance one of the best pop performances ever sung in German language. It might sound a bit surreal and extra but that entirely replicates the emotion one feels when just crying for no particular reason but the state of the world or one's life.
I always come back to this video at least 2x a year. Strange and so artistically expressive. I laugh at her expressions, yet I'm drawn to the passion, melody and vocal range. Hypnotic
She's incredible, but I'd put Nina in the middle of Kate Bush, Mike Patton, and Zappa. This song is an 8 bar repeating chord cycle. Amazing to be certain. Zappa also never made remarks of the sort. Perhaps I'm autistic and reading too much into a joke. Respect to you, Hagen, Zappa and anyone else I've dragged into this 😂

Great catch with the tongue, but what the *_FUCK_* are you talking about, "underrated" :DDDDD nowadays kids don't know shit anymore. She is the mother of punk for a reason!!
You probably know it, but anyway, starts with: G6/D, F#7/C#, Fmaj7/C, E, then the same but all with E in the bass. The beauty is that all four chords have the note E in common.
Goose bumps every time I watch this video. Unique voice able to space different styles on a rock music and her theatrical interpretation make all this a masterpiece 😍
Man imagine having the balls to be this weird and crazy with your music. Badass 😂😂 I love her vibe and earrings. And the guitar player with that thick eyeliner is my fav. I grew up with pop music that nowadays is the mainstream, but on my years of listening to rock music and going as back as i can on the "rock timeline", i've realised that artists back in the day could come up with the weirdest and craziest song or way of singing and people would be like "yes, art. We vibe with this 😌". Now everything sounds the same and they try so hard to hit the "vocals" that they need to sound good. I dont think they could handle Janis Joplin way of singing.
Only just found this woman. I love her sense of style, not sure yet what to think about her music but I really do appreciate that she marched to the beat of her own drum. I can’t help but think that a song with Nina and Kate Bush would have been super trippy.
I love how her eyes pop out of her skull as though something in another realm has taken over her body. Man, those facial expressions are insane. It's kind of amazing that an interesting and musical voice comes out of all that craziness. Lol, chicken noises at the end ^_^
She's like Jim Carrey with singing talent. She should have been a bigger star. She's so much more fascinating than our current crop of vapid pop whores.
I guess the vast majority came through the image of the video, only few will understand the message of the song, the others are only curious, a walk through the great youtube
@@nstruebluey39 The title is Nature's tears. I'm not entirely sure about the translation, but I think it's about remembering an old friend while watching a sunset through the window on a cold but beautiful day. In the next part, she is praising the beauty of the quiet night in the city, however, she is deeply saddened and full of regrets probably because of that friend in the past
She is a goddess, reborn as a powerful singer. This song (not understanding German) drive me in another world, where everything is great. Thank you Nina for your courage and talent
It's basically a reminescence of a poetic classical song with lyrics about nature - her: watching a colorful sunset from her window (probably in 70ie's Berlin), melancholic feelings and thoughts, sung with quite lyrical vocabulary, however also mixed with everyday words and banalities (like the sound of a motorcycle), the whole thing sounds more like an ironic parody of a nature poem. Which makes it so special. Add her trained opera voice with crazy vibrato to it (that also falls into crazy nonsense sounds and rock singing) and it makes an amalgan no other female singer has ever achieved before and after. Each time she screams 2 octaves above normal, and precisely, I have shivers over my spine. Only Deep Purples Ian Gillan could scream just as beautifully in "child in time".
Been listening to Nina Hagen since 1982 and, with the benefit of hindsight, IMHO this is possibly the greatest four minutes of her long & glorious career. I know that sounds like hyperbole, but that's how I feel.
Imagine being this Goth, Punk and iconic all at once.

Mimi lmao 🤣 and yet “you” are here with 99 subs and 3 total videos. The only thing inspiring about “your” music is that some how, people put up with it enough that the stores you music is played in are still in business (although struggling and in decline.)
Your career is proof that creativity is no longer appreciated.
Maybe I will hear one of your neurotic Christmas songs again next holiday season? Hopefully not.

Lyrics:
Through the open window I can see
The tiny clouds hovering in the sky
The wind is blowing, my nose is freezing
... a few exhaust pipes are spluttering.
Ah, the sun is going down
Red and gold, as it should be
I look down to the street below
And see a friend standing there
Suddenly my heart feels heavy
I just need to see birds fluttering
And my eyes turn up to the sky
How it hurts my soul - how beautiful!
Nature in the evening, a peaceful town
Tormented soul, the tears flow
It all makes me feel so feeble
And makes the tears flow even more....
It's so beautiful 🖤

This clip brought me to tears. Couldn’t understand why because the performance is so odd/silly. But then someone translated the lyrics… just incredible. Between the meaning of the lyrics and Nina’s vocals, she nailed it, beyond language. I cried and I don’t even understand German. True legend. True punk. Much respect.

So thanks! :)
The quote you used is by Kurt Cobain, pg. 99 sampled it, but yes
I was thinking precisely that. She's free up on that stage. Freer than most of us in society.
I wish Iknew what she was saying
@@Donjonneau The song is called "nature tears" and she describes looking out the window at night down on the city street and describes the scenery outside and she is overwhelmed with negative emotions and just cries. It is basically an anxiety attack put in a song (at least just judging from the lyrics, maybe there is a personal backstory she has). I find this song and this performance one of the best pop performances ever sung in German language. It might sound a bit surreal and extra but that entirely replicates the emotion one feels when just crying for no particular reason but the state of the world or one's life.
Holy fuck, what she pulled off was just insane. One of the best ever.

She's incredible, but I'd put Nina in the middle of Kate Bush, Mike Patton, and Zappa. This song is an 8 bar repeating chord cycle. Amazing to be certain. Zappa also never made remarks of the sort. I dont think they could handle Janis Joplin way of singing.
twenty years ago probably someone like you would have said the same about mumble rap, so idk
there’s still weird and cool stuff coming out today and some of the pop music is still good too even
there's always eccentric new art coming out if you search hard enough, art is ever evolving.

Every year or so I come and watched this. So wonderfully unhinged.
