Faber-Castell Perfect Pencil $275 vs $15 Comparison

- The Faber-Castell Perfect Pencil is a fun plastic pencil extender with a built-in eraser. You can get the Perfect Pencil 9000 for about $15 ( amzn.to/4cNIwQk ) ... or you can get the luxury Graf von Faber-Castell Perfect pencil for $275 retail (or sometimes under $200 via Amazon amzn.to/3zqeTWF ). What's the difference between the two? Are these pencils even that good, let alone perfect? Should you invest in a pencil extender for your wooden pencils?

That’s really interesting! I think I would stick with the $15 version personally
Faber-Castell is a favorite, exceptional; Love your channel!

Thanks!
Have never been drawn to Faber-Castell. Their products have always seemed unnecessarily expensive.
I agree with their products today but they’re vintage stuff from the 80s and 90s is pretty great
They also have a bizarre idea about how thick and bulky a writing instrument should ideally be. The flare shape on the end reminds me of those big upright tubas.
@unsharpen I'll have to check into some of their vintage offers.
their fountain pens are quite nice, always deliver
The Perfect Pencil oozes luxury; if you’re comfortable with that and want it, then you pay for it. If not, there’re loads n loads of options. However once you’ve used this pencil, difficult to get used to anything else.
nice to see the dark mat again ♥️
Thanks!
Just got home after a long day at work and I was very pleased to see your new video !
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@unsharpen- oh for sure !👍🏻
I really like Faber-Castell 9000 line, so I am tempted to buy Perfect Pencil 9000, just for fun and appreciation. It is interesting they use shorter pencil then the usual 9000, I already use tip protectors and pencil extenders, so to have same brand one is nice. But for practicality, it doesn't seem worth it.
I found some of the perfect pencils on their own. They got me the most bang for the buck. But even via eBay they were pretty expensive
Oh wow cool pencil !
The Perfect Pencil sounds like a good idea for a sketcher. Personally I would go for the 15$ version and look for a good entry level fountain pen with a gold nib.
On another very different note, I got a beautiful lacquered S. T. Dupont Classique Rollerball. Had someone in this Community hacked a refill to fit it? If so, which one and what you did?
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: The hacking of a Dupont Classique Rollerball Refill part.
If you like the idea of these but want the convenience of a container for the shavings, you might check out the Perfect Pencil III.
The sharpeners on both are utter crap, especially if you are used to a sharpener like the Blackwing longpoint. I don’t understand how Faber-castell can get away with that on the deluxe version. The green B pencils are lighter in graphite darkness than a B pencil should be. The premium pencils are much, much better. But the cost is obscene. Neither of the pencils is as good as a Blackwing or standard Japanes😊e pencil. This is an example of conspicuous consumption.
Great video. I imagine when the creators of the pencil sharpener part assumed that people would be using this in an office setting or somewhere that has waste basket close by and they would just sharpen it right over that. Just my guess.
I just checked these on amazon and, honestly, the 179 dollar price tag is not bad compared to 45 bucks for 5 pencils xD
That's grey market, at official retailers they are going from $275 up to over $800. Wild
@@unsharpen That is madness lol!! I mean I have a problem with pencils but no amount of FOMO will get me to fall for that one!! :D
The number one example of "wtf" marketing... actually no, the REFILLS for the premium perfect pencil are number one. Every purchase should require a mandatory donation to a charity.
for that price I'd go for a pilot h-2005 lol, though different people like different things.
the honda or the mechanical pencil haha
@@jezparkins2230 the mechanical pencil 😄
Yeah, that's a classic. I'd tend to agree.
The pencil is decent, nowhere near the best. The sharpener isn't the best either. I've also owned both and can say they are definitely a PASS.
A Von Graf Perfect Pencil special version was offered to B.Obama once - € 400 model - when visiting the EU institutions as a gift...(Durão Barroso)
Derwent has 2 metal tubes extenders for € 8...
LOL.
Overpriced cap
