Check out 2:45. It just pushes through the motor and is secured with a 1.5mm screw-tightened harness. You can't go wrong since it connects only one way for the data plug on the end of the boom which levels the tail section with the wings. Maybe I can show it a bit closer in a short separate video.
Ok thanks, so it's a specialized motor with provision for a carbon spar to go through it's centre. I can't seem to find it as a spare part on VCI..@@EdRickerVlogs

@@EdRickerVlogs thanks, it is really a very interesting developement in this field of uav and electric motors, it is the 1st I see of it and I think we will be seeing many more designs, twin boom/twin motor etc. Exciting!
Nice video. Good to see you on the fixed wings :) My money's on the oscillations being down to the motor. I had persistent annoying jello on my AtomRC Dolphin at lower throttle recently, swapped the stock motor and all vibration gone. Not sure how easy it is to swap out the motor on the Dove though, looks quite proprietry.
It looks very well designed. I only don't understand why the servo and aileron horns are mounted on the undersides of wings in most new designs. Where I fly in the semi-desert, grass does not exist: just dirt and stones and tough thorny bushes so a hardened underside would be great. The Nano Talon has some sort of hard adhesive plastic that sticks to the bottom. Or an option for removable landing gear is okay too.
probably just need to balance the prop to fix that 40% occillation. stick a small piece of tape on one blade and throttle up. if its worse try the other blade.
was searching for who chased Shelby, you were flying Walksnail on your quad right? What antennas do you have on your quad and Vrx or Goggles? Your range seemed quite good for Walksnail!
Hi, actually I was flying DJI Digital in all of my chase videos. At the time they were TrueRC stubbies but now I use Lumenier patches. I had worse luck with signal penetration with Walksnail, so I sold my Walksnail equipment to a local friend (MSR). I'm not sure if he chases with Walksnail or not since he bounces back and forth between that and DJI often.
I use a 3s 2200mAh LiPo for about 13 minutes of flight while recording 4k on the DJI O3 Air Unit. You might get more flight time with a different video transmitter and a slower cruise.
No flight controller. I just wire it up with voltage and ground and deactivate the temperature control so that it operates at full power without flight controller arming.
Never really calibrated it, just connected it and found the CG. But I did nosedive it into the ground and it's in about 10 pieces lol! So yes, I'd say fragile, although any foam plane would have broken.
We eventually got permission. Started out as guerilla FPV but we made friends with the cops and now we've got the ok as long as we don't cause damage or piss off people too much 😂 There are also days/times/areas that are off limits, gotta be responsible.
Bahaha!! I still feel pretty new considering I've only flown the T1 Ranger before this, and it's spent about half its life in pieces waiting to be glued back together lol!
Check out the new VCI Dove: www.vcihobby.com/en/col.jsp?id=102
Wow, that motor around the tail boom. Custom design. I'd love a close up review
This is what caught my attention too. It's only briefly mentioned though. How does the carbon fibre spar go through that motor??

You need a prop balancer....Or soft mount your camera....The hollow motor was the most interesting feature, and yet you didn't really show it...😳😳😮😏🇬🇧

Nice video buddy ,it's because of you I bought the mini 2 👍thank you.
Awesome, glad I could help then, and hopefully now!
Hey, cool video! Where in Raleigh were you flying? That seems like a cool location.
It looks very well designed. I only don't understand why the servo and aileron horns are mounted on the undersides of wings in most new designs. That's unfortunate. Maybe they'll design some landing gear for uses like you describe. Doesn't hurt to make the suggestion!
Interesting plane for sure!
I think so too!

Cool Wing, but I need some more info. Battery type and what's the max flight time you can get out of it?

Calm Ed Ricker here 😉
😂
03 needs to be soft mounted, that hard mount is causing the jello
Do you have a flight controller on board? I'm new to HD fpv but I thought the 03 air unit only works if plugged into a controller.
No flight controller. I just wire it up with voltage and ground and deactivate the temperature control so that it operates at full power without flight controller arming.
Have you tried the baby ar wing pro ? Just got mine and need to get it going.
After like 40 quads I need a fpv wing that fits in my backpack. 😅
Nope never tried that one personally.
after how many time/flights you have to calibrate the whole thing? looks fragile
Never really calibrated it, just connected it and found the CG. But I did nosedive it into the ground and it's in about 10 pieces lol! So yes, I'd say fragile, although any foam plane would have broken.
may i ask how the o3 is powered ?
I soldered the O3 power wires directly to the Dove's ESC + and - pads
can I use 4s on the PNP plane or jus 3s?
The ESC is rated for 3s. A full throttle 4s may blow it.
ED Ricker Here....
😂
А где такой мотор найти?
I dont think you can replace the motor on this type of frame.
The motor can be replaced fairly easily, but finding a place to purchase it is another story :)
@@EdRickerVlogs Thanks for the feedback, keep us updated then.
Did you get permission to fly in this spot, or do you just arrive and fly? I want to fly on similar spots but don’t know who to ask for permission
