@@ChettaMonster , I taught at a university in Seoul. Korea has a mandatory retirement policy for full-time professors when they turn 65. I will definitely go back to visit within a year or two.
interesting, I have heard teachers and related professionals are very highly regarded in S. Korea, but I didn’t realize there was a a mandatory retirement age. Congratulations on what sounds like a long and impactful career ❤️
As we enjoy this video together, tell me about the traditional music from your country of origin - do you listen to it regularly, or only on special occasions like holidays and festivals?
My mother is from Ireland. My parents listen to modern Irish music all the time, but I prefer the more traditional Irish music. I listen to it occasionally, just when in the mood for so more traditional.
Yes! I don’t know if this qualifies as traditional or modern but I love: Molly Malone, Fields of Athenry, Whiskey in the Jar, Wild Rover, 4 green fields and of course Danny Boy always makes me get teary eyed ❤️🍀
So my dad is Indian but my mother is from South Korea: I love listening to both styles of music. Their diversity is beautiful, and I love how I can easily have the taste to two cultures. (However, I'm from Houston, Texas :D)
Thank you for the wonderful music. I spent the last thirty years in South Korea and retired in the US last summer. I still dream of Korea every night.
oh wow! did you have family there? or work? it must be hard not to be able to visit with everything going on.

Whiskey in the Jar and Wild Rover must be older, I remember my mother and uncles singing it many years ago ❤️

I was born in Guatemala... The folkloric marimba is very upbeat and childish in nature. 😅
Would it be ok to use this music for a puppet theatre play to show korean folklore to children?
