    Thank you so much for your insight and amazing knowledge of the game. You explained everything in a way that did not go over my head. When I studied cinematography in college back in the 70’s, the reality of being an independent cinematographer afterwards kept me out of the game in addition to getting drafted into the Vietnamnam War. I had to become photojournalist to have a career. But after 50 years as a successful freelance photojournalist and author of 6 books, I can now afford equipment that was not within my reach in the 70’s. I’ve started with a Blackmagic 6K Pro rig, 6 Rokinon DSX cine lenses and other equipment for creating shorts that I love. Your post has inspired me to do more and even though I’m 75 now, the passion is still there to do short films. Thank you and continued success and blessings to you.

    Great video Brittney!!! Just one thought. You mentioned something like “there are some cinematographers who don’t know anything about lighting-and that’s okay…” What do you mean by that? Because in my mind, knowing how to light a scene to create the desired look is absolutely essential. Also I agree with Brady, your talking head shot is 👌🏼🔥

    • @BrittneyJanae
      @BrittneyJanae  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey! So I moreso mean some rely more on the gaffers knowing than them. So they may tell the gaffers what they are looking for but that’s it. They don’t know much of the lighting terminology. For me I can do a whole diagram and speak to my gaffers specifically about what I want. Im not like a pro because im not a gaffer but my goal is to really be able to dial in to meet my gaffer.

      @@BrittneyJanae gotcha! After thinking about it more, I thought you might be thinking along those lines, of some relying more on their gaffer’s expertise. Makes sense! Thanks and great video!! 🔥🔥

    these are great tips and you are awesome! but...TBH this "movie" is being made to sell GH7s/Atlas lenses/bokeh rentals and has a bunch of "filmmaking influencers" so is most likely going to be not very good. As usual, these guys are trying to sell something to viewers they don't need and make money rather than make something unique/good. Sad this is what "movies" have become. Lets see where this actually gets distributed...

    • @BrittneyJanae
      @BrittneyJanae  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You do know you can make a film without it being distributed? Are you saying if someone makes a film and it doesn’t get distributed that means it’s not a film?
      Honestly I actually rent from Bokeh as a DP on my projects! Most of the projects I’ve done on this page I’ve rented from Bokeh. Did they invest to help us make this film YES, but what film has not had investors? Executive producers are literally people who have put money into the film. Brady and I are both Cinematographers. They hired us to DO this film. And we treated it like any other DO job. Rather it’s good or not, go out and shoot something! That’s how you grow, that’s how you learn.
      I guess I’m confused on the issue at hand. Is it because we had sponsorship that helped us make some of the films we want to make? Because what Hollywood film doesn’t?

    • @BrittneyJanae
      @BrittneyJanae  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Also I want to say as a DP who does commercials and documentaries this was my first time DPing a narrative. It was a great experience since I’m trying to dip my toes into Narrative. So I def want to thank the sponsors for putting money down for this to happen. Because now I have that experience as a DP. So again I don’t really see what’s wrong?

    • @jaredking232
      @jaredking232 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That’s all fine and it’s great everyone is able to find work on this film and get paid. My issue is that it appears like this film is being made with the express purpose to promote TH-cam channels and sell products/services.

    • @jaredking232
      @jaredking232 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      And not for some kind of artistic merit. Project like this, in my opinion, further turn movies into just more content and erode an industry of movies created with actual artistic intent and merit.

    • @BrittneyJanae
      @BrittneyJanae  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The point of the movie was to create a movie. We are thankful sponsors gave us money for it. As a DP in the industry when someone invest in your film they expect to get something back. It’s the same as if you did a gofundme. The more they invest the more they get back. Doesn’t change the point of wanting to make a film
