The Leafs gave us a preview vs Edmonton of what they can do when they play physical. It gives our forwards time and space to do their thing. Obviously they can’t play that way consistently in the reg season and risk injuries but I fully expect to see it again starting game 1 vs WHOEVER! And Boston or Florida or whoever they throw at us, won’t expect it and won’t know how to react to it!
I REALLY hope Edmondson can stay healthy in the playoffs! He is a super important piece of the defensive core! They need that physicality! If he’s not healthy then the Leafs are gonna have a much harder time winning!

I think Lilly is capable of logging some important minutes but I like the looks of this D core when guys are playing physical, finishing checks, protecting the blue paint.

Getting him and mccMann signed for a while at 2.7 mil combined is a tidy bit of work from Treliving.
There is still some untapped potential in Benoit's game. I would like to see the Timmins/ Benoit pairing experiment continue and would like to see Benoit throw more bombs from the point.

Brodie has been a solid D for 3 years, but I think his father's sruggle with cancer affected him starting in last season's playoffs. That was exacerbated when his father died just before camp & it has obviously bothered Brodie for much of the season. As I watched Liljegren bungle a 2 on 1 vs New Jersey on Tuesday, it made me pine for Brodie who's been one of the absolute masters at defending 2 on 1s. I hope he can level up his game for the playoffs. He played to his abilities vs Washington, so maybe sitting a couple will help him. Benoit is a wise signing imo as I believe he has another level he can get to with Toronto. MLSE spends money on player development which helps guys like Benoit.

A great signing, considering Benoit adds a little bit more GRIT on defense! This years roster is NOT built too go deep into the playoffs. Tre needs to ADD 2-3 big, heavy, and tough d-man to be true Stanley Cup contenders! A top 9 POWER forward would also bolster the roster.

Nobody wants to be reminded that they've been out so long, especially when the team needs him. It will continue everytime he has to face the media, including after his first few games, win or lose. It's not difficult to know what stupid questions they'll come up with, especially for Mitch. Every player, and Keefe, will be asked about Mitch's return for the first few games. It's ridiculous, especially with the number of times they deal with these same reporters, asking the same questions, EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

Brodie has been a solid D for 3 years, but I think his father's sruggle with cancer affected him starting in last season's playoffs. That was exacerbated when his father died just before camp & it has obviously bothered Brodie for much of the season. As I watched Liljegren bungle a 2 on 1 vs New Jersey on Tuesday, it made me pine for Brodie who's been one of the absolute masters at defending 2 on 1s. I hope he can level up his game for the playoffs. He played to his abilities vs Washington, so maybe sitting a couple will help him. Benoit is a wise signing imo as I believe he has another level he can get to with Toronto. MLSE spends money on player development which helps guys like Benoit.
Our best dman is locked up! He is underrated passer and rarely makes a mistake. The guy is a machine.
