Ever since the country’s independence, ethic groups seeking autonomy were suppressed, bribed and corrupted by the ruling junta. But the ethnic armies enriched themselves just as the Generals did, and now the Army is in retreat. We examine how things got here, and who the players now are

While i genuinely appreciate what Praveen Swami does @theprint. Can i request the use of maps to simple which area is affected and where the insurgency is, after all its a geopolitical issue as well. For example where these 3 ethnic military is based and which areas have they captured, are these areas closer to NE India,............. just a Humble opinion.

Is this a joke? We always suffer from ethnic communal and caste riots.
As state is weak. Due to lack of capacity govt never interfere and uses monopoly of state violence to control them. Instead political parties uses these to win election. Govt only steps in when shit hits the fan and some of these antisocial becomes seperatist in nature.

That's another brilliant episode in the Explorer series. Your picking of historical events and weaving them into ongoing turmoil and contestations is marvellous. Your subtle reminder to people that nonviolent democratic independence movement saved India from the much anticipated doom is extremely timely and relevant. As from Americans to Britishers, all were counting on India's Balkanization.
Thank you very much for doing this, sir. Your voice was telling that you were perhaps under the grip of cold. I hope and pray, may you get better soon. Thank you.

#Since day one (Independence from UK) Burma was unable to put into a strong Constitution reflecting ‘Social Values’ listed as:
    1. ‘Social Values’ (Equality, Brotherhood Spirit) among multi ‘Ethnic Races’ are not addressed by Army Dictators since day one:
    2. Army Dictators (mostly “Burman” Race) behave like they are supreme towards multi ‘Ethnic Races’ living in the country:
    3. A strong Constitution (Social Contract between Citizens & Govt) to reflect these social values do not exist till to date 2024.
    # Due lack of such a strong Constitution, conflicts broke out between the Army & multi ‘Ethnic Races’
    # Now Army coup (Feb ’21) has caused a huge “Social Upheaval” which become too hard to fix back since it become a war between total population (all National Races) against the Army.
    # Citizens lost trust in the Army, thru reality, that its intention is to grip onto power anyway, anyhow no matter what.
    # With this Army’s mindset (using “force” as only option) and opposition forces who are determined to close Army’s chapter in Burma - that could end up in a Civil War; that is what happens NOW.

India got independence not because of "Gandhian" non violence but because of INA bulk whose troops were British India Army soldiers who had surrendered to the Axis powers and several mutinies in the British India military immediately with the end of world war two. Most notable were the Bombay naval mutiny and mutinies in air force.
This was compounded by the fact that 30 lakh Indian troops had returned to India after the 2nd world war. The British knew they could no longer hold on to India with the help of British India Army which is why they left India much earlier than they planned to.

Its not what went wrong with them….. the fault line is their creation. Both of these countries are holding an important strategic locations but they are as much fragile. Pakistan is being created in a way that half of its balochistan is given to pakistan and half to iran. Half of its pashton areas r given to afghanistan and half are cut to put in pakistan. Half punjab in Pakistan half in india and so as sindh and what left behind is also the disputed territories. What you will expect from such a country to have done good? It is small in area as well. India is way more bigger than pakistan. With more secure territories.

The online crime against Chinese is conducted in Special Economic Zones that Tatmadaw has no control. They are controlled by Triads and pay the CCP.
Chinese "anger" over this is an information operation meant to legitimize more direct Chinese control in Myanmar.
I and most I talk to HERE think that China intends to attack and (1) seize more direct control over the terrain that their pipeline travels to and (2) position forces in Chin state to flank India.

I disagree with sir here, India and Myanmar cannot be compared India has existed as a civilizational state has existed for thousands of year while Myanmar came into existence as a colonial Frankenstein, these two are not comparable

India yes, but not the Indian-Union which has different cultures joined by the Brits.
For example Nepal is part of cultural India, but most of the North-East are not.
Just that Nepal was not annexed by the Brits.

Burma existed before British rule, and no, it was not a part of the civilization state of Bharat. Being a patriot does not mean putting blinkers on history.

The first civilization was Dravidan before Indo-European in India/bharat, then who was the first human in Bharat if you know guys?!
which is older in existence if the bharat is compared to the indigenous population of Australia / Africa.
At any time, the oldest civilization on earth will not really exist, because it will definitely be replaced by another.
