He is hurting badly and it shows. It's quite painful to listen to him, very intense. It does though show the beautiful richness in his voice.
Just so painful that he was hurting so much over someone that obviously was only with him due to fame and money. That's what you get when you choose a woman half your age? They say suicide is a permanent problem for a temporary problem. But I think his life long regrets, he buried in the hope of Ginger loving him. When he realized the truth, it was then virtually suicide. That is why this song is so painful for him and for all of us. She was the one on his mind. Not Ginger's fault, she just preferred Aerosmith :(
@Lk TrueRedHead#GODfirst He is free from pain now, think he never got over his beloved mother's passing, she was dearly loved by Elvis. So sad too that his only grandson who he never met has also passed on. I hope his only daughter Lisa Marie manages to pick herself up and tries hard under difficult circumstances to raise her daughters in the way her dad would have wanted. So sad.

Elvis Presley was a very troubled emotional person. I believe he was looking all his life after his mom died. For that special someone who he talk to a understand him a love him the ways his mom did. I know he loved Priscilla but she was nothing Ike him. She didn't like the things he was interested in like God meditation and the after life. Elvis I believe was from another dimension. Heaven. I believe that's why Gosple music moved him. Because he knew deep down he wasn't no King he didn't like people calling him that he even said on stage. I'm no King. To me there's only one king. That's Jesus Christ. That proves he loved Jesus Christ and never denieded him.

When Charlie Hodge was a Elvis Convention in Columbus Ohio 1978, The Moody Blues Album was playing and this song came on. Charlie started singing with it and I lost it. When Charlie looked up and saw it was me crying, he had big tears in his eyes too.
